As a momma, I am always looking for new ways to spark fun conversations with me kids in the car, at the dinner table, or just through out the day. The more we converse, the less we screen time and I love seeing how my kids respond to these incredibly funny and creative questions. These lead into deeper conversations with my kids and help to explain things to them that sometimes just we tend to forget. I also love that there the book is broken into different categories to help you choose what type of conversation based answer you want.
I also am a teacher and this is a GREAT way to spark conversations, lead our morning meeting, have a brain break and allow my students to have engaging conversation with one another. Its fun to have votes and see how each topic says classroom conversation.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Would You Rather is a fun book filled with hypothetical questions on hilarious scenarios. I read this with my 5-year-old in one sitting, though it would be perfect to ask just a couple of questions each day and make the fun last for a long time.
Each question allowed us to discuss which answer we would choose and why. Some of my son’s answers fully surprised me and allowed me to learn more about him. His favorite question was “would you rather sneeze pennies or fart butterflies?” 😂 He chose butterflies (because he’s a silly boy that loves fart humor), while I explained that sneezing pennies could end up being a lucrative talent if one were to sneeze enough times. His response was “well yeah, but wouldn’t that hurt?” Then we discussed that a nose would likely evolve from pennies constantly applying pressure to the nose, and so it would likely only hurt for a short time. This entire conversation may seem ridiculous to many, but I love that we were able to learn more about each other while listening to a difference of opinion. What an important life skill to acquire at such a young age.
A few of the questions were repetitive-so we skipped over those- but of the 200 questions, most were enjoyable scenarios we had never pondered before.
