Another Kate Burkholder story knocked out of the ballpark. I say it in my reviews, but Linda Castillo has written 17 books in this series and they never falter. Rage had some add humor despite the seriousness of the crimes in the story. The characters in this series continue to evolve which keeps the series my absolute favorite.

A good addition to the series. It was not anything amazing, but it kept me entertained and furthered the overarching storyline.

Another great Kate Burkholder Amish mystery. An Amish child finds a body part and that is just the beginning. Young Amish are being murdered I’m awful ways. Kate and her crew have the tough job of finding out who is doing this. I love the interaction between Kate and John. I hope this series continues on.

Ready for your yearly visit to Painters Mill?
Once again, Chief of Police Kate Burkholder is hoping for a quiet, and trouble-free summer both in town and the neighboring Amish community. Well, so much for wishful thinking, Chief. Three Amish kids have just stumbled across a body on their family property. And before Kate can get a grip on what happened, more bodies turn up.

As Kate And her new husband John Tomasetti, (from the Ohio Bureau of Investigations) get started on the case, they’re un- prepared for what they uncover, as the worlds of the English and Amish collide.

I adore Kates’ character as she balances her professional and personal life. As I say every year, I would like just a bit more of her and Tomasetti's relationship. And of course, the whole gang makes an appearance from Pickles to Glock and all other members of her force.

Does Kate take senseless chances in this book? Well yes, of course! I’m starting to come to terms with that just being how she rolls, and to expect it. But I needed to at least mention it here!😅

Linda Castillo once again delivers a great addition to a long standing series. I can’t believe we’re at book 17 and still going as strong as ever. (Not an easy task!)

If you enjoy police procedurals with some Amish culture mixed in, (And who doesn’t?💁🏼‍♀️) Then this is a perfect read for you.

It can definitely be read as a stand-alone but you’d be missing out on one of the best series! So I highly recommend starting with book one, Sworn to Silence.

Until next year...

Thank you to St Martins Press via NetGalley

Book 17 in the Kate Burkholder series. I don’t know how the author keeps coming up with these gruesome murder ideas!
It’s summer in Painters Mill. A time for fun and enjoyment. But when an Amish child finds, well part of a body, the police soon discover that the other pieces have been buried nearby too. Looks like it’s not going to be a fun summer for Kate, the chief of police.Samuel, the murdered boy was only 21 and didn’t seem to have any enemies. Just one unhappy landscape client, but dismemberment seems to be taking being upset a little bit too far. Kate must dig deep to find out who else Samuel was involved with. Before she has a motive or a possible suspect, another body is found. Kate struggles to fit the pieces together and soon becomes a target too.
A fast paced read as always, and I was well into this book before I had a clue about what was going on. I just really like Kate, but I’m going to have to go back and read my other reviews to see how many times she’s been beaten up and almost killed. I’m starting to wonder if she has any body parts left that haven’t been injured doing her job. I’m looking forward to book 18.

Thank you soo much St. Martins Press, NetGalley and Linda for the ARC opportunity! I have been a fan of this series for many years and wait on the edge of my seat for a new release all the time!

The way that I completely binge these books every time I get my hands on them. Linda Castillo has created a small town Amish thriller series that is absolutely addicting, and always has me on the edge of my seat wondering who’s guilty, and who is next?!

I absolutely loved this novel, the storyline, and am sooo glad Linda gave us more glimpses into Kates personal life. Tomasetti and Kate are seriously my fav book couple right now, and they have such a good working relationship and he encourages her to have a work life balance. As someone in a busy field I appreciate that!

Highly recommend this novel and series to readers of Amish novels, and thrillers with a side of murder.
