Veil Vol. 2 by Kotteri is a colorful and beautifully illustrated manga that presents two charming main characters, Emma and Alexander (mostly referred to by “Her” and “Him”).
The story is told through vignettes rather than a continuous linear timeline. The art truly is beautiful but the relationship between the two is what is truly captivating. It’s so ambiguous and definitely gives off slow-burn tension. It’s so much more than a friendship but less than a full relationship. They both seem so comfortable with each other, and intimate without it being sexual, that its heartwarming. It’s a soft and quiet manga, but the character dynamic build the more you read. The second volume really emphasizes their relationship more.

Paid more attention to the art in this c. I really appreciate the sketches in between scenes. Their posing is so unique and dynamic, so I imagine the mangaka put in a lot of work to find references or to simply think them up. And the unveiling that their names are simply he and she is absolutely the most romantic thing ever, but even more than that. It reminds me of the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler, where he refers to her as The Woman as if she's the only one of that species that matters. So, too, for our two protagonists. Can't wait to get into the next instalment.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for granting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If a heterosexual relationship isn't like this, I want NOTHING to do with it.

I like the art and I get the concept, but I would love for the snippets to show a coherent story.
Sometimes I get confused because of that but maybe that's a me thing.

Thank you Udon Entertainment for the drc via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I continue to love the delicate artwork and the soft interactions between the two MCs. There's definitely a focus on fashion in this manga series with a few pages of just full artwork in new styles that I am really enjoying. The story itself reads as little snippets of Emma's and Alexander's lives together, like getting glimpses of strangers through a window. While they're definitely more than friends, they're also not a couple or romantically entwined, yet it still reads as a slow burn because as the reader I really want the two to end up together romantically and we see moments of flirtation and sweet gestures but no moves have been made. That's not to say that the reader will be unsatisfied because seeing their almost shy moments of what could turn into something more is very charming and hopeful and shows how their relationship has been developing from strangers, to new coworkers/friends, to something a bit more than that. I look forward to the next volume.

There is just so much love behind the characters 🫶!!! I kept showing my boyfriend the pages and he said they reminded him of us. So lovely. Artwork is as gorgeous as ever

Glimpsing the slices of Emma and Alexander's life together continues to be so incredibly charming. The unique art style and attention to fashion and design reminds me a lot of Ai Yazawa, mangaka of Nana and Neighborhood Story.
Every line and panel is pure poetry, and though it reads like a slow burn with the obvious tension between them, readers are FED with cute moments each scene which keeps me waiting for the next volume.

I love the series so far, with its beautiful artwork, introspective dialogue, and humorous dialogue. However, the authors confirm that the relationship, not being merely platonic or romantic, hurt more than I anticipated. Thank you, NetGalley and publishers, for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Astonishingly chic. There is so much warmth between him and her that transcends friendship but isn't stereotypical love. A love for each other's freedom? The full colour art and all the scattered art sketches make me gasp. There is a real energy to it all.

More of the same from the first volume. The mangaka had even said that these were published at the same time as she didn't even think these were even going to be published, so I understand that it was still in the same type of formatting. As in, short pages, and just hints and clues into their relationship. Still wish there's more confirmed developments but I'm content with how it all plays out.

I loved the first volume and the dreaminess continued into the second, Calming Noir. This comic is so romantic and really invokes the French atmosphere on every page. I've never been, but I'm assuming it does it well. I did prefer the first volume, but I still enjoyed myself. I wish the vignettes weren't so short and we got more dialogue from our characters. Regardless, the illustrations are lovely beyond comparison. I hope we get more from this series in the future. This was a delightful read and I hope to learn more about this mysterious couple. They're so sweet together and destined for a happy ending. I was aptly titled because this was indeed a Calming Noir.

With volume 2 of this series, I'm just very happy that the series is still going. Along with the beautiful art that feels very whimsical, the writing is very well done. It's a sweet and romantic series and I can't wait to read more.

Veil Volume 2 once again brings gorgeous artwork showcasing snippets of the interactions between "him" and "her." Their relationship still is not clearly defined, floating between friendship and possible something more.
I could honestly stare at the art alone and be happy, but for those looking for plot, this might not be for you. This is much more of a slice-of-life, character-driven manga than a fully fleshed out story.
Personally, I loved how little plot this manga has. It makes you slow down and find meaning out of their banter and interactions in a way that plot-heavy stories don't really allow as much.

I liked this book more than the first one, it was more sensual, more tension between the characters, easier to follow. Her and Him, are very cute with their talks, and flirting. I can't wait for the next ones!

The second volume was. a bit more intense than the first, and it was just as enjoyable!! I loved the storyline and the characters and the artwork was STUNNING!! I would love to see more!! I need to know what happens next! But the best part about this is filling in the blanks with your own imagining. I really loved this series!

I just cant get over how beautiful the art style is! I love the vibrant colors and how each drawing is so incredibly detailed. Its art.

Well, Kotteri delivered! Maybe not exactly in the way I thought but you do get a little bit more of a glimpse into the lives of these two charming characters. The elusiveness grew on me and I like that, I, as the reader get to choose how I interpret their connection. I have made up a story in my head about them and their future and that suits me just fine :)
The artist and author’s art developed so well, it’s not distracting from the story but you can tell in the details and choices made. It was really enjoyable to see some of the small changes made with different angles, clothing choices, etc.
Overall and once more with feeling: a charming little read that feels safe to go back to when you’re feeling bad, mad, sad. Thank you again Udon Publishing and Kotteri for the opportunity to read and review this manga.

This continues to be essentially a cute collection of sketches and comics of the author's two OCs. A sweet and swift read, with some nice moment shown.

My thanks to both Netgalley and Udon Entertainment for the ARC copy. This has not affected my review at all, which are my own thoughts.
In this second volume of Veil, we keep following our characters: Him (the police officer) and Her (the runaway heiress). Still with insane art, colorful and vibrant, jumping from the page. There's still not a define or linear plot, just sweet and little moments between the characters, but the scenes feel less disjointed and the romance keeps growing slowly but steady.
I also made a review for the first volume of Veil where I said I didn't enjoy it very much, but that I could see the potential and the appeal it could have to other people who were more fervent fans of the romance genre. While I still stick to my opinion, I also wanted to give the second volume a chance since the publisher was kind enough to lend me an e-ARC of the second one, where I hoped that, maybe, the story could get better.
And it did. So I'm glad I gave it a chance, because I enjoyed the art so much and It would have been a (personal) waste not to like something like Veil, when it is so well crafted and drawn.
This second volume, even though, as mentioned before, still following a non-linear plot, is far more coherent, enjoyable and sweet, bordering on sugary. I think I like this one better than the first because we see the characters outside their houses and their jobs, meaning, they have more moments as ordinary people, with no other context in the middle than getting to know each other in depth. And I *do* feel like I know the characters more than I did at the end of volume 1, which I appreciate, or else I'm sure this review would be on the more negative side.
As I'm not a die hard fan of romance, if I'm to read one at least I need depth of character for it to work for me. And Kotteri manages to do that with this second volume, so they finally won me to keep reading their series when more volumes eventually come out.
To sum up: the art is as good as in the first one, but the execution of the story is far better than in the first one, in my opinion.
I still recommend Veil to fans of reeeeally slow burn romances, that like well-crafted characters, all wrapped in stunning art that crafts a sweet and cozy ambient.

It just gets better, I am in love with every inch of this manga. Thanks to the author 🤍
I can’t wait for what’s next because I can’t stop reading it, and I just want more of them<3
They are both so innocent and they have a beautiful relationship. They captivated me, and for some reason I just get this nostalgic sensation, it’s feels awesome. I never felt this way about a manga. I am so happy that I got to experience this. It’s very whole hearted
Hand down my favorite manga of all times~
