The Body Electric by Beth Revis is a futuristic thriller filled with twists and tech-driven suspense. It follows Ella, a young woman with the ability to enter others’ memories, who stumbles upon conspiracies and secrets that shake her world. The book combines action, romance, and mind-bending sci-fi, perfect for fans of dystopian thrillers and unexpected mysteries!
Beth Revis always creates strong characters but there was something about this that just fell a little flat for me. I love a good sci-fi story, but although the world building was good I didn't actually like the science fiction aspect. It felt a little too far fetched, a good sci fi might be wild but it has to at least believably get us there and I didn't feel like this did it. I also didn't love the dead father aspect. It always feels vaguely toxic and unhealthy when dead family members start popping up as ghosts or memories, etc. I think most people will really like this and it was well-written. it just wasn't for me.
I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it.
This was so beautifully written and it had such a vivid world. I liked how well-thought the characters were, how real they seemed and how shocking the plot was. For a while I thought the author planned this to be a series, if not at least duology, because these 500 pages were packed full of action and amazingness.
I loved her book Across the Universe and this book didn't let me down. While in her first book she is showing a corrupted world where nothing works, in this one she portrays classical dystopian world where everything is wonderful, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, the society works perfectly... except it's not and then everything starts to crumple up.
If you'd like a dystopian novel with a vividly portrayed world and amazing main character, who's relatable, check this one out.
I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.
***ARC given for honest review from Netgalley***
I tired on a few occasssions to read this, and could not get into the story.

Beth Revis is such a good author. I love her writing style, it's something that a reader would easily get hooked on the book.
"I suppose you can turn any scientific study into some kind of weapon; that's just human nature."
This book was really refreshing. Such cool world building, awesome characters, and a mysterious ending not everyone may understand. I had to go back and read it twice, but I loved it!
I never had a chance to review this before it expired. I'm sorry!
