Post Partum by Nolon King and Lauren Street is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the fragile state of the mind during one of life’s most vulnerable periods. From the moment you encounter the title, it promises an emotionally charged and intense ride—and the story more than delivers.

The novel masterfully captures the intricate ways the mind can distort reality when grappling with emotional and psychological upheaval. The authors paint a vivid and deeply empathetic picture of postpartum struggles, illustrating how isolation, self-doubt, and fear can spiral without a strong support system. The central character’s journey is both heart-wrenching and inspiring, as she battles to find her way out of the darkness and back to herself.

The strength of Post Partum lies in its ability to balance an intimate exploration of mental health with a tightly woven, suspenseful narrative. Twists and turns are seamlessly embedded into the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seats while still remaining grounded in the emotional reality of the protagonist’s experience. The sense of vulnerability and the need for trustworthy, supportive relationships are recurring themes that resonate deeply.

King and Street excel in creating a protagonist whose struggles feel raw and real, evoking a deep sense of empathy from the reader. The suspense builds steadily, culminating in moments of revelation that are both shocking and satisfying. The emotional stakes are high, and the journey is as much about survival as it is about self-discovery and healing.

For readers who appreciate a thriller with psychological depth and emotional resonance, Post Partum is a standout. It’s a story that lingers in your mind, not just for its shocking twists but for its honest and poignant portrayal of mental health struggles during a critical time in a person’s life.

With its compelling storyline, emotional depth, and unexpected twists, Post Partum is a powerful and unforgettable read that will leave you thinking long after the final page.

A fast paced suspenseful book with some twists and turns that will keep you reading. Alice is having problems after a difficult pregnancy and seems to be having nightmares, sleepwalking, and insisting that a doll is her recently born daughter (who seems to have died after birth).
Her husband Max is losing interest in supporting her through her issues and she makes a friend with the woman next door Flora, who just happnes to be a psychiatrist.

You will quickly read through this book to try and find out what is real/fantasy and who can Alice trust. I feel like this plot line has been overused but still thought the book was interesting.
