If you’re a fan of police procedurals/investigations with epic villains and intriguing setting, you’ll want to check out Linda Hurtado Bond’s latest All the Captives Girls! This one reads like an action movie! 😱
This book is set in Tampa and though I’m yet to visit Tampa specifically, I had strong flashbacks to eating delicious Cuban food in other parts of Florida. I loved that Mari’s (main character) Cuban culture played such important part in the story.
Grab this if you enjoy:
🎭 games of cat & mouse
🎭 AI theme in thrillers
🎭 journalists as main characters
🎭 vivid descriptions of yummy food
🎭 Cuban culture in Florida
🎭 Elements of romance
🎭 masquerades
🎭 musicals
If you’re anything like me (or my ADHD brain), you’ll want to read the first two books in the series first! A lot of relationship and character building that ties into book number 3 (this one)!
Our team at @thrillerbookloversthepulse loves bringing you early thriller reviews and recommendations so make sure you follow for their reviews as well. Grateful to @entangled Amara for my ARC!

This is a suspense thriller that is full throttle from the first chapter. It incorporated a lot of the newest artificial intelligence expertise and cyber policing tactics.
Mari is a reporter in Tampa being targeted by a serial killer who is supposed to be dead in a revengeful game involving deepfakes and misinformation on social media. She is being goaded into dangerous situations in order to prevent the killing of loved ones and mass destruction being threatened by Hanks. She teams up with law enforcement, and her love interest Tony, to try to draw him out before he can further terrorize the city and ruin her reputation even more than he already has.
This was a nonstop action crime thriller that will keep you guessing as to what is fully happening and who is behind everything. I felt like I was asking more questions and being turned around in circles than getting answers. There are a lot of allusions to the previous two books involving Mari Alvarez and her adventures, but this can still be read as a stand-alone.

A faced paced thriller that draws you in from the lead in page. Although this is part of a series, it worked well as a stand alone and makes me want to go back and read the previous book.

Lovely read with a lot of twists and turns and lovely characters that will last to be written about multiple times more. The writing suits this book very well and it feels fast-paced but not stressful.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for thos eARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All words are my own.

Another great book from Linda Hurtado Bond. This was action-packed. The kind where you find yourself reading faster and faster. Great mystery and characters. Looking forward to more books from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC | Entangled: Amara for providing an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

I like when books dive right into the plot and this one did just that. It was decently paced, didn't leave me wondering when we're going to get there and even had a little romance to boot.
I think this was a second in a series, so I'll have to go back and read the first, but I'll Def be doing that.

This book had me holding my breath with every chapter!
Crime reporter Mari thought she was putting the past behind her, but when a presumed dead killer resurfaces, she becomes the center of his twisted game.
I love a thriller that keeps the twists and turns coming, and this one delivered nonstop surprises! Just when I thought I had it figured out, something else would happen. The action never let up, making it impossible to put down!
As someone from Tampa, reading a thriller set against the backdrop of Gasparilla made it even more exciting!!
If you love fast paced thrillers packed with action, suspense, and shocking twists, this one is a must read.
Thank you Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC.

While this suspenseful and twisted labyrinth starts to unfold, we also get to see Detective Tony, Mari’s romantic interest who is not always the best at expressing his feelings. You could feel the chemistry between these two and I loved watching their story grow deeper!
With plenty of lovable side characters like Orlando, Matt (aka Gift From God ha!) Izzy and more, this book has got it all! I love a thriller that keeps the twists and turns coming and thoroughly enjoyed this read. I didn’t want to put it down!

Mari Alvarez is back -- and she's the victim now of a serial killer who is after revenge. She learns what it means to be stalked and must rely on her detective friend Tony to help her. There's also another law enforcement officer that could just shake up Tony and Mari's relationship.
I liked most of this. There's plenty of action, but there were also some slower parts that I found myself skimming over. It was all about the revenge plot and what would happen there, and this did leave the reader with the door open for more. Overall, an entertaining crime drama with elements of romance.

Fantastic sequel and thrilling page turner! I love the unnerving use of AI and technology. You can read this alone and get the gist of the story, but reading the previous two books will enrich the suspense.

This was a very interesting book. I was t sure if I was going to enjoy it but I really did! Put this on your list as soon as possible

Thank you to Entangled Amara for the ARC! We at The Pulse have been buzzing about “All the Captive Girls”! Our FMC, Mari, gets sucked into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse by a killer that everyone thought was dead. She must play by his rules or risk losing everyone she loves.
Action-packed and with great twists, “All the Captive Girls” is fast-paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. It can definitely be read by itself, but now I want to go back and read the other books in this series!
”All the Captive Girls” is out NOW! This review will be shared to my instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

This book started out already catching my attention from the get go. It was one plot twist after another. I really couldn’t put it down, Marisol was captivating! She was so bold and brave to go through all of that. And still come out on top.
I really wish we knew more about what happened with other characters afterward. it leaves room for another story line for other characters which I’d love to see as well!

The third and final book in a series is everything I hoped it would be. I read this book first and now need to read books 1 & 2 because they sound so good! I didn’t have any trouble jumping into this book first though. The book opens at a pirate parade in Florida with Mari (rhymes with sorry) searching the crowd for a killer and thinking a parade where everyone is dressed up is the perfect place to commit a crime.
I listened to several interviews the author gave about this book and loved hearing the background and inspiration for the book. Grab this book if you love a good manhunt mixed with a little bit of a love triangle!

Thank you, for a digital copy of this book. The opinions are my own and freely given.
This book is the 3rd in the All The Broken Girls Series.
This book is set in Tampa during a celebration of Pirates, there are parades, balls and all sorts of festivities. This has a lot to do with AI (which frankly I am scared of) and Santeria religion that I am not familiar with. That being said, Mari Alvarez, a news reporter KNOWS, that Hanks is still alive and out to get her. The problem is he died in fire, and authorities can't really seem to believe her. Until, there is a mass shooting during a parade.
This book had a lot of action and some scary AI moments. This was a very good book that kept me engaged. No, I haven't read the first two books in the series, but I didn't feel lost, as the author seemed to explain a lot. I do look forward o going back and reading the first two.

We meet Mari again. This time, a former cop is hunting her. She must figure out how to stop him before more people get hurt, all while keeping her sister safe from harm and navigating a hopefully new relationship. I really enjoyed the suspense in this book
Thanks to Brittany from Entangled Publishing for the e-arc!!

Rating: 5/5
I received the eARC for my honest opinion.
Wow, right off the bat on page one Linda brought us readers, an engaging read, action filled, psychological thriller, with mystery and a sprinkle of romance. I still have not had time to go back and read book one, but I did start with book 2 and I didn’t feel as though I missed anything in that book as well as in this book. I do think I would have a better understanding of the villain in this book, and I will be reading it and any of the books that Linda will be putting out.
This book starts out with Mari getting psychological torture by the killer. He taunts her to stop his shooting at random people if she would just stand up and get shot herself. He then starts to bring her down, by spoofing videos of her saying and doing bad things, so that no one will take her seriously or trust her word on what is really happening. With the help of her long-time crush, Tony and other characters, she is finally able to piece together how he was doing it and who really helped him out.
I loved that we got to see more about the killer, and to understand more on why he is the way that he is. I loved that we got more information on all the characters really, more about Tony, Mari and her sister. I enjoyed that even though this is a thriller/mystery you will still find humored moments, and sweet and caring ones. I found the love triangle thrown in this book to have been well done and something exciting because you wanted Mari with Tony but at the same time here is Matt who is clearly interested. I enjoyed that Linda had AI in this book and the way that she wrote it into the book she also explained why AI is getting bigger in the world today and everything that it can do. It’s all scary but I loved that I got a better understanding of the topic because of her, you really will start to understand how AI can really ruin people’s lives in the wrong hands. I found all the twists and turns to have been perfectly placed, and I loved that I was wrong, but I can see why I was wrong and that is all because of Linda’s writing. This is a fast-paced book and you won't want to put it down.
I highly recommend this book and the previous books as well. You will be on the edge of your seat with this book and loving every moment of it.
I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled for the opportunity to review this book.

All The Captive Girls by Linda Hurtado Bond picks up where All The Girls Are Missing left off. Mari Alvarez, Tampa Bay crime reporter’s, past comes back to haunt her….and everyone she cares about are in danger.
John Hanks, a former cop and a serial killer, had used his position to find his victims. Everyone thought he had died in a fire, but they were mistaken. I love books that use vigilantes to seek justice for those who escape it, but John has now taken it to a new level. He is playing a game with Mari…and the end goal is her death.
More and more books are dealing with artificial intelligence and it makes me more aware of how easily it can ruin someone’s life. How easy it is to to twist the truth, making our world smoke and mirrors, making it impossible to distinguish fact from fiction.
Mari does have a love interest, Detective Tony Garcia. He holds his emotions close to his vest. She believes he cares deeply for her, but he doesn’t show it. What will it take for him to commit?
Linda Hurtado Bond sure does know how to whip my emotions into a frenzy. The pacing of All The Captive Girls kept me on pins and needles. Her ability to lead me down a dark and dangerous path keeps me wanting more.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of All The Captive Girls by Linda Hurtado Bond.

Tampa Bay crime reporter Mari Alvarez thought the worst was behind her. She thought she could return to work, her sister, her friends, and her still-undefined relationship with Detective Tony Garcia. To find something almost normal…until a killer everyone thought was dead contacts her….
This is the third book of the series and it’s just as amazing as the others. Linda Hurtado Bond truly Tudor’s herself as an author each and every time. I truly can’t wait to see what’s next!

Another great extension of the Mari Alvarez story line and picks up after the events of All The Missing Girls. There were so many unique aspects of this book that was not only a surprise but awesome to read about, particularly the use of AI and technology and how it can or is altering real life. The concepts of deepfakes, tracking, utilizing technology and AI to further police investigations was something I haven't seen much about but was well executed in this story. I found that I was interested to look into how much is used in the real world and how much is a take on what are possible capabilities and technology continues to advance.
The expansion of Mari and Tony's relationship and the character growth especially for Mari was wonderfully executed in this book as well. As with the other books in this series, the cultural aspects added to the story but did not overpower the story. I found I was gripped by the story and invested in how it was all going to wrap up. An overall quick, and great thriller read that will keep you questioning how it will end.
