This a fast paced thriller that will have you hooked right from the start. There are some great twists and turns and I loved the cat/mouse vibes I got from the story. We get this great tension and sense of suspense throughout the story.
This is the second book I have read with these characters and I can’t get enough of Mari (and a certain detective!) We have really seen Mari grow - she is so relatable and easy to root for.
I liked how the author used technology (think AI, deepfakes, etc.) to tell the story. I also really liked the Tampa setting!

All the Captive Girls was an amazing, fast paced, crime thriller. The story is engaging and keeps the reader hooked to the story. Mari is being stalked by a serial killer. Using deep AI, he's able to fake videos and. photos showing the world that she's an accomplice to his crimes. But when he kidnaps friends and holds her sister hostage, she does whatever it takes to save them, including putting her life on the line! I read this as a standalone, but I kept getting the feeling that maybe there's another book to the series that I should have read prior. There's a lot of talk about an incident that happened in Cuba and a couple other things that left me feeling a little out of place. The story also has a little romance between Mari, Tony, and Matt. Mari has been trying to build something with Toni for about 2 years now with no progress, as he comes across as disinterested in her in the book. Matt on the other hand, is known as a play boy and gives her all the attention she craves. There is a lot of talk about AI in this story and how people can benefit from it as well as how it can destroy lives. I really enjoyed that aspect of the story. The characters are well written and for all the technological things going on in this book, the author did a great job of being detailed and keeping the flow of the story.

Another winner of a book in the Mari Alvarez series! I hope it doesn't end as a trilogy - I want more! Albeit a bit formulaic - respected news journalist has something happen that makes her lose the respect of the public, only to have to fight for and regain her reputation - I love reading about her adventures and the steps needed to resolve and solve the crimes that she finds herself embroiled in.
In this volume, she becomes entangled with a killer assumed dead. It becomes personal when her sister gets involved and another reporter starts encroaching on her career. Modern AI technology feeds into the story in a way that I wouldn't have predicted. The story line never drags and human emotions, including doubt and jealousy, come into full play. These keep the characters real and I never feel that they are awkward or stilted. And when it comes down to the wire, Mari can be counted on to do the right thing, the best thing.
I have read that this will be the last installment in this series - I sincerely hope not, I so enjoy reading about her, her career and the places that her involvement with the police take her. Highly recommended! I don't know that you would have to have read the earlier books, she alludes to those situations but this story can stand on its own.

With a serial killer still on the loose, Mari’s using everything in her arsenal to track him down before someone else becomes a victim. By using real-world technologies, like AI and social media, Hurtado Bond not only keeps things suspenseful, but also relevant. In introducing influencers and AI into the mix, Hurtado Bond focuses on how these technologies are increasingly used in both solving and complicating crimes, while continuing the suspense of the story.
As a sequel to All the Broken Girls, this builds on the first story while adding new layers to both the plot and the characters involved. The balance between solving the murders and the situational dilemmas surrounding AI makes for some compelling plot twists in this well done novel that modern mystery fans will love.

This was an action pack book. Mari was a great character and enjoyed her character development. The book had me keep turning the pages and couldn't put it done. Can't wait to read more from Linda Hurtado Bond.

Thank you Entangled Publishing for this ARC.
All The Captive Girls is the third book in this series, and after experiencing the cliffhanger in All The Missing Girls, I knew I needed to read this! (Read the others before starting this book!)
From the very first page, this book is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller. Mari is trying to save the lives of her family and friends. It picks up at the cliff hanger from the last book. It was actually my fave book from this series.
There is a new attractive, flirty cop Mari starts working with to solve this case. I wonder if there will be another book… I have some questions about things that happened in the end… dun dun dun. lol

All the Captive Girls follows Mari, a journalist, who is being stalked and threatened by a serial killer she uncovered a year ago when rescuing her sister from Cuba. He is seeking revenge and is threatening to take everything from her. He goes after people she loves, her job, and her.
This book was entertaining but nothing really noteworthy. It has a very light love triangle if you can even really consider it that. Mari is kind of ish trying to build something with Tony. Someone she's known for a while but he is basically emotionally unavailable. Then comes Matt, Gift of God, Enzo who is a huge flirt. He gets added onto the case and is hitting on Mari throughout the book. Romance wise, I never felt the connection between Tony and Mari. Honestly, I felt more genuine connection between Matt and her. It just felt like Tony was being forced upon Mari.
Anyway, I wasn't a big fan of most of the characters. I liked Mari and Matt. But the others, her sister and her friends just felt annoying. There was an active serial killer on the lose and after the first run through everyone had you would think this group would take things more seriously. Their nonchalance about it got on my nerves.
I did feel bad for Domingo. He got caught up in something and suffered the most since he was the first of the group to get kidnapped. The killer was smart though. He really stayed one step ahead. This book did introduce a lot of benefits and downfalls of AI. I was intrigued by all the things that AI was able to do in this book.
The end felt like it left a possibility for a second book. It also was highly anticlimactic for all the drama the chase took in trying to catch the killer. All in all, it was fun to read but didn't leave much of an impression.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

My first by this author and I will be looking to read more. This is a fast paced thriller that kept me captivated the entire time and invested in the characters. The book also referenced another favorite author of mine Don Bentley.

All The Captive Girls by Linda Hurtado Bond
This is the third book in the series featuring reporter Mari Alvarez as she solves a crime with old friends and new friends at the hands of an old enemy. Lots of twists and turns in this romantic thriller set in the modern world where technology makes it hard to believe everything you see.
This was a fun thrill ride of a book with nonstop adventure. Set in Tampa during Gasparilla gave the novel an easy pirate themed adventure. Bond is great with character building and depth. This novel called back to the previous two novels, the second one I read last year and enjoyed. This one did not disappoint as the next one in the series. I recommend this one as an avid reader of Bonds or as a new reader. Where some context is good going into this one, it could be read as a standalone and enjoyed too. This is the prefect book if you want an easy to get into and stay drawn into thriller and hunt for a killer.

I read the first book in this series but I obviously missed that there was a 2nd. Doesn't matter, however: this one works as a stand-alone (but it will give things away about the first two). The story opens with a bang: Tampa Bay crime reporter Mari Alvarez is reporting live from her station's float in a parade for the annual Gasparilla pirate festival when shots ring out. She believes knows who's doing the shooting: a killer everyone thought was dead who reached out to her beforehand to let her know he was back and out for vengeance. Mari ("rhymes with sorry") is determined to find him before he hurts those she cares about, but when the bad guy uses AI and social media to cast doubt on her reputation, she realizes she is up against more than she bargained for. This is an action-packed, fast-paced story with strong characters that (mostly) defy stereotypes. There were one or two things that confused me (why was the nephew kidnapped?) but overall I thought the plot was strong and creative.

I did not realize this was the third book in this series. I read the first and enjoyed it well enough, although I did find it a little melodramatic for my taste. But I somehow missed the second altogether, so when I saw this one - with no indication of where in the series it fell - I assumed it was the next. It is not. It is the third, and it literally picks up right in the middle of things in a way that felt disjointed until I did some research and realized there is an intervening book I haven't read.
It is a pet peeve of mine when publishers or netgalley do not tell you that a book falls within an established series - and where it falls within that series. Even Goodreads doesn't list these Mari Alvarez books as a series, which is strange because they are usually very good about that. It makes for a disjointed reading experience and seems as though it does a disservice to the author and the book because readers that go in blind to that reality can quickly become confused.
That's what happened for me.
By the time I realized that I had in fact missed an entire storyline, I was irritated at being confused by the story I was trying to read. It felt even more over the top than the first book did, in a way that did not appeal to me and that did not leave me wanting to read the previous book in order to understand or appreciate this one.
I think that the writing style is just not for me, and I wasn't able to finish. 3 stars since they force a rating and I don't think it's fair to give less than three for something I did not finish.

Disgruntled and dangerous, ex-cop, John Hanks has perpetrated mayhem on the Gasparilla Children’s Parade.
Unlike the others, Reporter Mari Alvarez knows it was John Hanks. He’s not dead like the others believe. She knows, because he called her before the parade.
From the first page to the final, the action is ongoing and fast paced. This book was well written and well worth reading, especially if you like a thriller with suspense and an excellent finale.
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing,LLC for this exhilarating book. This review is my personal opinion.

I liked this romantic suspense. The setting of Tampa during celebrations is great. Bond really does well in setting the reader into the very culture of the celebrations. Her descriptions of the parades and other aspects of the activities are very good. Mari is a good heroine too. Bond has developed her character well, especially her struggle to be strong while hunting the villain. And he was quite a villain, always a step ahead of Mari and law enforcement. I like that Mari is also a soft character in her love for her sister and her pursuit of romance.
The part of the novel that fascinated me the most was the advanced technologies described. The use of AI to create fake videos was chilling. I appreciate Bond giving us some insights into how it is done.
This is an entertaining romantic suspense with well crafted characters, a complex but enjoyable plot, and some really chilling information about what can be done with advanced use of AI. There are many references to events in the first book in the series and it should be read to fully appreciate this one.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

All The Captive Girls – Review
All The Captive Girls is the third book in this gripping series, and after experiencing the OMG cliffhanger in All The Missing Girls, I knew I was in for a wild ride. Let me tell you—Ms. Hurtado Bond did not disappoint.
From the very first page, this book is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller. Set against the backdrop of Tampa Bay’s Gasparilla pirate festival, the story bursts with energy and tension. Since I wasn’t familiar with the festival, I looked it up, and that really helped me visualize the chaos and excitement surrounding Mari’s ordeal.
A serial killer everyone believed to be dead has resurfaced, thirsting for revenge against Mari and everyone she holds dear. This “phantom pirate” is always two steps ahead, forcing Mari into a high-stakes game where the only way to save those closest to her is to play by his rules. With the help of her trusted friend and videographer, a local detective, and her steady rock—Detective Tony Garcia—Mari must navigate a treacherous path filled with danger, deception, and impossible choices.
I especially loved how Ms. Hurtado Bond wove modern elements like social media and AI into the killer’s twisted plan, making the story feel chillingly relevant. As Mari’s world crumbled around her, we saw her raw vulnerability, Garcia’s softer side, and even moments of doubt as she questioned her feelings for him in light of a flirtation with another detective. Through it all, Mari underwent a powerful transformation, no longer seeking external validation but discovering who she truly is.
The twists and turns in this book kept me guessing at every chapter. Just when I thought I had it figured out, new revelations made me question everyone’s motives. The suspense, the historical tie-ins, and the relentless action made this a truly immersive read.
I highly recommend All The Captive Girls to anyone looking for an electrifying adventure woven with rich historical celebrations and heart-pounding suspense.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing this book for review.

The author lets the hammer down on page one charging ahead with the action in a ripped from the headlines first chapters. Adding to the action is the psychological torment the killer inflicts. He taunts Mari to stop the shooting by sacrificing herself. This was a very telling moment for Mari and it makes readers think of what there own reactions would be in her situation. That one scene and her confession that followed made her seem more real and made her relatable. What would any of us do in her shoes? As the story unfolds we learn more about the man Mari is up against including people believing he is dead.
Mari's family and friends are pulled into the action as all were part of it when last they faced the killer. Mari, while more human than fearless superhero, will stop at nothing to keep her family safe against a person who clearly is evil. We also get a few reprieves from the darkness through Mari and Tony's relationship and Orlando coming clean his feelings about Mari's sister.
One of the things that struck be was in a previous book, Mari must have introduced herself and said Mari rhymed with Sorry so the unsub called her Mari, not Sorry. It may have referred to her name but it also gave us a peak behind the curtain at a horrible human who felt no sympathy or compassion.
This is a really good action packed story full of complex characters. The author did a nice job of setting the stage against a busy and "fun" time in Tampa upping the danger to a lot of innocents.
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC | Entangled: Amara for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Entangled Publishing for this incredible book.
This book is a sequel to All the Missing Girls. I would recommend reading book one first. They can be read alone, but you will garnish so much more by reading book one. Both books are fantastic reads
The suspense is intense. The plot is fast moving. The character, Mari is perfectly portrayed.
I can't say enough good things about this book. It is a must read. .

If I am being honest, I read this book before I read book one. I didn't even know this was in a series so for awhile I was lost. However, the story line does a good job and giving brief reminders of who characters are and how they're important. For me the story got interesting towards the end. If you read book one then this storyline would make more sense for you haha. Other than that it was decent.

(4.5) Thrilling twisty page turner that has a lot of moving pieces. Starts off with a bang in more ways then one and keeps on going to the end. Mari is feeling the results of technology used wrong and twisted social media delivers, Tony is there with her and has a few things happening as Mari blames herself, doubts herself and questions herself. A wild ride in so many ways. Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #AlltheCaotiveGirls #LindaHurtadoBond #EntangledPublishingLLC Entangled:Amara #Netgalley

"All the Captive Girls" opens with a gripping intensity that sets the tone for the rest of the story. The suspense is masterfully maintained throughout, keeping readers engaged and on the edge of their seats, eager to see what happens next. I wasn’t aware that this book is part of a series, and I recommend reading the first two books before diving into this one, as it feels like it builds on previous storylines—though it’s not explicitly labeled as part of a series.
One aspect that puzzled me was the title; it didn’t seem to align with the narrative, and there was a lack of correlation that left me questioning its significance. However, the plot itself is well-developed, with twists and turns that enhance the reader's anticipation.
Overall, this book delivers an exciting read with strong suspense elements, earning a solid 3.5 out of 5 ⭐.

Tampa Bay crime reporter Mari Alvarez thought the worst was behind her. She thought she could return to work, her sister, her friends, and her still-undefined relationship with Detective Tony Garcia. To find something almost normal…until a killer everyone thought was dead contacts her. Because he wants to play a game a twisted dance of revenge, where Mari must play by the rules…or lose everyone and everything she loves! Great read!! Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! It had great suspense, gruesome murders, mystery, intriguing, action, fantastic characters and some shocking twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
