“A face hidden by darkness, a soul revealed in flame. Mari Rhymes with Sorry—you are to blame. Your life will never be the same.”

All The Captive Girls is a gripping thriller with a nail biting narrative that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Mari has to play a game of cat and mouse with a killer who is supposed to be dead. It was interesting with how AI plays into this story. With deepfakes, the killer manipulates her world and people do not know what is real or not.
Overall, I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller and definitely want to check out the other books in this series.

All the Captive Girls is the last book in Linda Hurtado Bond’s trilogy and it sure is the perfect way to go out. Bond weaves her story together with characters that jump off the page and suspense that never stops. Mari is strong and extremely smart. Bond infuses her reporter expertise into Mari and the authenticity makes Mari a character that is easy to admire. Linda Hurtado Bond is an auto buy author for me!

This is the third in a series and will be most appreciated by those who have read at least one of the preceding books because the plot hangs on things that happened in the past. Mari, a. reporter, finds herself in the crosshairs when a villain she thought was dead seemingly returns. Luckily, she's got Tony, a LEO, on her side as she dodges threats and searches for truth. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a page turner.

This is the third book in the All the Girls trilogy. I have not read the first two, but I did not feel lost.
During the Gaspirilla Festival in Tampa Bay, shots are fired. The culprit is someone Mari Alvarez , a reporter knows not only well, but everyone thought was dead. Only the good die young is a saying I always repeat whenever the bad guys get away, but are presumed dead.
The killer has a plan to ruin Mari’s life. That is if she, along with several trusted people cannot figure this out and catch him, then he just might succeed. A really enjoyable read that hooked me from the first page.

Not a favorite of mine - while there was lots of action it was clear at first that this was part of a series and I think more insight into previous books would have been helpful.

All the Captive Girls is a very action packed thriller. Since I have not read any of the other books there were some things that I didn’t know about in the back story. However, that did not take away from enjoying this novel, it seemed to come together in the end. Mari Alverez, a reporter, is covering a parade in Tampa when a gunman opens fire into the crowd. This gunman, who Mari thought was dead, is a person from her backstory and is out to get Mari. The story continues with Mari determined to find him.
This story moves quickly and keeps you wanting to read to find out what is going to happen. Very well written and easily read.

All the Captive Girls is a fast-paced and suspenseful thriller. Reporter Marisol is determined to uncover the truth behind a series of missing women, but the case soon becomes personal—and dangerous.

The story is engaging, with strong writing, great twists, and a compelling main character. While some parts were a bit slow, the tension and mystery kept me hooked. A solid, gripping read!

Ay Dios mio! What a thrilling ride!
This is the third installment of the Mari Alvarez series. A terrifying cat & mouse game which centers around Tampa’s Gasparilla Festival, journalist Mari Alvarez & serial killer John Hanks. A clever, entertaining & chilling page-turner that will keep you captivated from start to finish.

If you like your books served up cold & calculating this is a book for you! It will keep you pinned to the edge of your seat with its twisted plot, thought provoking & fascinating insight into AI & how it can ruin a person’s life. I know I will never look at my cell phone the same way again! Be sure to read the first 2 in the series before reading this one.

Favorite Lines:
“Broken girls blossom into warriors.”
“My eyelids flutter like tired butterfly wings, wishing to rest.”
“You never know what’s going on in a person’s mind. You may think you know someone. You may hope and pray to understand a person, but what lives in the space between their ears often remains secret. You will never have access. Unless they give it to you willingly.”

Another action packed thriller novel from the author. From the beginning chapter of the Gasparilla parade to the end of the book where the parade is still going but there is a twist, it was always fast paced.

At first I thought it was a dream, it was so unreal that someone would target the beloved Gasparilla parade. But then it kept going.

Mari, rhythms with sorry, (I have that stuck in my head) has her sister kidnapped and she must stop ex cop Hanks from killing more and kidnapping more people.

I love the authors writing style and the story moved along. I wanted to know more about Matt and his relationship with FLDE.

Overall a solid thriller book that is a great read.

I didn’t realise this was a series however it is good as a stand alone book as all the pieces come together throughout the story however you do miss some backstory so if highly recommend reading the others first.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were great and the plot was amazing although I was convinced their was a plot twist coming with one of the main characters but there wasn’t

I was so glad there was an update about freedom at the end as that would have been one that bothered me

Overall a great book

Linda Hurtado Bond takes readers on one final, electrifying ride with *All the Captive Girls*, the concluding installment of her 'All the Girls' trilogy. This nail-biting thriller cements Bond's reputation as a master of suspense and will leave fans breathless until the very last page.

The story plunges into chaos during Tampa's iconic Gasparilla Festival, where a vibrant parade turns into a nightmare. Mari Alvarez, a gutsy and determined journalist, is covering the event live atop a pirate-themed float when a sniper's bullets rip through the crowd. The shocking revelation? The attack is deeply personal, orchestrated by a cunning nemesis from Mari's past—a shadowy figure everyone had presumed was dead. But now he’s back, pulling the strings in a deadly game where Mari is both pawn and target.

This isn't just a straightforward hunt for the truth. The enigmatic killer weaponizes technology, using doctored footage and social media to paint Mari as complicit in his crimes. Suddenly, everything she’s worked so hard for—her career, her relationships, her very identity—is at stake. As the psychological tension escalates, the stakes become devastatingly high for Mari and those she holds dear.

Fortunately, Mari isn’t fighting alone, though her allies come with complications of their own. Her steadfast videographer provides valuable support, while a local detective shows both professional determination and the promise of deeper emotional connection. Add in a brash and self-assured state law enforcement officer who stirs feelings Mari isn’t quite ready to face, and the twists aren’t limited to just the plot.

Fast-paced and packed with unexpected revelations, *All the Captive Girls* is an adrenaline-fueled race against time that showcases Mari’s intelligence, resilience, and humanity. If you enjoy thrillers with strong, multidimensional female leads and a story that keeps you guessing, this heart-stopping conclusion is a must-read. Bond has outdone herself once again, delivering a finale that feels as explosive as it is satisfying. 4.75 Stars!

All the Captive Girls grabbed me from the start and didn't let go until the electrifying end! Imagine reporting from one of Tampa's biggest events of the year when a gunman opens fire. It's an unthinkable act, especially when the suspect was presumed dead!
Crime reporter, Mari Alvarez, may be the only one who can save the attendees of the pirate festival from a dangerous killer but she has to outsmart him all while protecting her loved ones. Mari is a tough woman who has experienced unfortunate family trauma which has only made her stronger. This is the second book, I've read in this series and I enjoy the unique storyline and Florida setting.

Lots of action right from the beginning with plenty of twists and turns throughout! I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series but still need to read the second. Highly recommend reading the first two prior to picking this one up. While I think it would be enjoyable regardless, the characters were developed in the first book which gives a little more insight into the relationships happening in this one. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!

The action kicked off on the very first page! When Tampa Bay crime reporter Mari Alvarez is contacted by a killer who is supposed to be dead, everyone she loves becomes his target. She's reporting live during the Bay's Gasparilla Children’s Parade when gunshots erupt. The killer craftily uses Mari's live broadcast from atop Channel 15’s parade float to force her into submission.

Readers will definitely feel immersed in the setting, in both the culture of Tampa and the parade itself. I found myself also be caught up in the action, which is so intense at times that I wanted to read faster, but I was so scared of skipping over a subtle clue!

I was suspicious of everyone, and I can't wait to see what the next installment has in store for us! Thank you to the author, Entangled Publishing, and Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse for the early copy. This book is expected to publish February 17, 2025.

Full disclosure, I did not know that this was the third book in a series when applying for the e-ARC. I am very appreciative to Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

The story picks up with reporter Mari Alvarez returning from saving her sister from a serial killer in Cuba. The killer is reported to be deceased; however, when someone begins attacking the public in Tampa during the Gasparilla Festival.... Mari believes he's alive and out to get her. The Phantom Pirate targets Mari and everyone she loves. Can she save her loved ones and herself? Or is the killer going to get away.... again?

The book was very well written, I definitely felt immersed in Tampa and the festival (which I had not heard of prior to starting the book). I do believe that had I read the other two books in the series, I would have enjoyed this more than I did. I did find Mari to be a little whiney and annoying during the first half of the book. Around the 50-55% of the book, she becomes the heroine I was wanting the whole time. The ending was a shock. I'm definitely planning to read the first two and come back for a re-read and give it a second chance.
