Gorgeous little read. This author never fails to disappoint, and even with such a short book she still managed to con jour up a romantic and exciting situation that leaves you wanting more. Would recommend (although prefer the full side books as these are never enough!)

I LOVED IT. Part of me wanted a longer story but the characters had been through enough. The mmc was so sweet and I was so proud of the fmc because she was so strong.

This novella was pure gold. I would read Abby Jiminez’s grocery list. So witty and cute! I need more of this feminine rage!!!

Super cute short story romance. Perfect for Valentine's Day or any other day. I love Abby's story telling and would happily have read a full length book about these characters.

A sweet romcom in short story/novella format, I think the dark subject matter could be disturbing for some but appreciated the content warning at the beginning. When I’m in the mood for a cute romance, a lot of the time they can feel stretched out with filler, I actually really liked the length of this one! Great writing, swoony characters, and quirky friends; it checked all the boxes.

As usual, extraordinary! Abby Jimenez is a pro in writing rom-coms with characters that feel like real people. The way she is able to make us connect with Charlotte and her - sadly - very real problem is nothing short of amazing! Especially in a short story! I loved everything about The Fall Risk! Absolutely a favourite!!!

I am a sucker for a good Abby Jimenez book! I read a lot of thrillers so this is a nice palate cleanser for me. Super fast, easy and fun read! It wasn’t my favorite of hers but I loved it none the less.

A sweet novella with an unusual plot! Like in Abby’s other books, the characters here are really charming. I laughed at many moments. I liked that, even though this is a short and light read, it still touched on such a serious topic as stalking.
In my opinion, this is a completely finished story—I got everything I needed and wouldn’t even want it to be a full-length book.
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬:
✓ short story
✓ neighbors to lovers
✓ forced proximity
✓ golden retriever MMC
✓ only kisses
Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

For all the women who choose the bear and all the men who do the work to understand why. May the forest be a little less scary one day.
TW: This story is about a woman who is being stalked by a mentally ill stranger. There are mentions of suicide, kissing cousins, and discussions about firearms for self-defense.
Today, March 1st, 2025, I read my first Abby Jimenez book. I have noticed this author is trendy all over my social media. A short story is a good way to begin a relationship with an author.
When a construction crew removes the wrong stairwell, Seth and Charlotte find themselves unable to leave their apartment building. But each of them is encouraged by their BFF to get to know their neighbor. Seth is newly divorced. Charlotte is hiding from a stalker. Yet neither can deny that they could see them falling head over heels with the other.
I liked the characterization. I liked the banter and easy conversation between Seth and Charlotte. My favorite short stories are the ones where I get so immersed in the plot that I forget it will end soon. The Fall Risk was one of those perfect reads. As you will notice with the trigger warning, we have some serious topics and yet I still smiled and chuckled during those funny moments. Also, when it came time for the final confrontation between Charlotte and her stalker, I appreciated that Abby Jimemez doesn't have the male protagonist swoop in to save the day. Yay!
If you like forced proximity rom-coms and short reads to meet those reading goals, then check out this book for certain.
Would I read a full-length novel by this author? Yes, if the opportunity arises, I will certainly check her out.

Such a cute read!!!!
I wish it had been a longer book. I wanted more of the story between Charlotte and Seth.
Love Abby Jimenez!!!

4 Stars
This was a fun and quick little novela. I loved Charlotte taking down her stalker at the end and her cute relationship with Seth, but I was almost more interested in Charlotte and Seth’s best friends relationship; Izzy and Gabe

4/5!
My first taste of Abby Jimenez’s work and colour me intrigued. A great short story which covered some hard topics including stalkers and mentions of suicide. This short story could be a full book by its self because it left me wanted more.
I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between Seth and Charlotte develop day by day. Seth was such a breath of fresh air, he noticed she was uncomfortable so he adapted and didn’t make a deal out of it.
I will 100% be diving deeper into the Abby Jimenez world .
Thankyou NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the chance to read this!

I appreciate that Jimenez managed to use the short page count of this rom-com-y (I’ve added the -y because I can see it was meant to be funny but.. I don’t think it weaseled a chuckle out of me). novella to platform a serious topic, and not make light of it, but other than that.. I don’t really have any other praise to give this one.
This is basically a forced proximity romance set in and around valentine’s day that matches up a newly divorced good guy with a woman who has forced to be on guard, and in hiding, due to a relentless stalker.
I don’t know if it was the shortform style (I’m sure I’ve read a novella by her before, no? maybe?) or what but this didn’t feel like this author’s narrative voice at all. It had none of the charm or swoons that I’m used to from her and that’s a bummer — but at least it was short. Conversely, this might’ve been better, and maybe we would’ve heard that signature voice, had it not been a novella. Or it could’ve likewise flopped. Who knows.
Oh, I guess if I had to mention one other good thing about this it would be the couple’s friends. They might’ve been the only really entertaining aspect of this. I’d totally read more about them.
2.5 stars

This was such a cute novella! I've been in a bit of a slump so a short story with fast pacing (which Abby Jimenez excells at) was exactly what I needed. This touches upon some heavier themes, as Abby's novels always do, so it packs a lot of emotional punch for a novella as well.
The set-up was kind of ridiculous, just to get the forced proximity going, but ya have to do something to get two people to fall in love within 80 pages. This was cute and not really insta-lovey, which I was really happy about.
Also the dedication?? Got me in my feels. This was somehow my favorite Abby Jimenez read so far, which I'm SO surprised about, as I normally tend to dislike novella's.
Thankyou to Netgalley and Amazon Stories for providing me with an ARC for this novella. And thank you to Abby Jimenez for writing this little treat of a book.

4.5 stars. A beautiful short story that felt so so full and complete. I fell in love with Charlotte and Seth (and all the tree puns).
Thank you to Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley for an advanced electronic copy in exchange for an honest review. The Fall Risk comes out on March 1st.

If Abby Jimenez writes it, I will read it. The Fall Risk is the perfect short romance to quench my crazing for her new title releasing in another month. While this is short and sweet, it is still very entertaining and enjoyable. Abby can do no wrong.
Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Short and sweet. Anything Abby writes is good. While I don’t prefer short stories, I usually prefer world building and character development. Still a fun read.

Where do I sign up for more or Charlotte and Seth?! This short story was just so adorable while still addressing a serious topic. I love how Abby Jimenez can seamlessly weave serious topics with a rom-com.
I'm obsessed with Charlotte and Seth. I was rooting for them from page one. Their dynamic was just perfect. The whole plot was also something I haven't seen before, which is always a win. Basically, if you want a quick read that'll make you smile and leave you desperately wanting more, this is it.

i love a novella that feels like a complete story! this felt so fully-developed, had the best friend group of characters, and had the absolute cutest meet-cute! this story had me swooning the entire time. i need my own balcony!

3.5 ⭐️
This was cute, but also SO so heavy!! for such a short story. It’s something that’s important to talk about because it can be scary.
The only downside is with Abby’s short stories is they could be longer.
• nerdy guy
• neighbors to lovers
• forced proximity
