The Dreidel that Wouldn't Spin is the story of an unusual dreidel given by a peddler to a greedy shopkeeper who is after the profit he can make. Although he is warned that the dreidel carries the true spirit of Hanukkah, the shopkeeper sells the dreidel again and again to children for whom the dreidel will not spin. Eventually the shopkeeper gives the dreidel to a child one last time.
The main this I liked about this story was the beautiful illustrations with the soft colouring. The story itself is more of a fable about greed and the true meaning of Hanukkah, which should help younger children understand he pitfalls of greed and selfishness. I think the main selling point of this story for me though was definitely the illustrations. 3.5 stars.
