A gorgeous selection of classical poems that have the theme of love interwoven between them. It was great to learn some interesting facts about well known poets and get to see their experience and creativity around love in such an excellent compilation of poetry. There was such a broad variety with everything from Emily Dickinson to William Blake - it would make a perfect Valentine's gift for yourself or someone else special!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a sucker for romance, I was excited to dive into The Pocket Love Poems by Gemini, hoping for some sweet and heartfelt poetry to brighten my day.

I read the Kindle version of this collection, and unfortunately, the formatting wasn’t quite right, making it difficult to enjoy on my e-reader. When I pulled it up on my phone, the experience was much better—the colors and formatting were visually appealing. However, since I rely on my Kindle due to migraines, the poor formatting was a drawback.

That said, the collection itself was lovely. I appreciated the different expressions of love woven throughout the poems, and I even came across a few styles I hadn't encountered before, which was a nice surprise. While not every poem resonated with me, I mostly enjoyed them and found the book perfect for cozy, bite-sized reading throughout the day.

If you're looking for a charming collection of love poems to dip into whenever the mood strikes, this one is worth checking out—just keep in mind that the Kindle formatting may be a challenge.

Once upon a time I was a student in university heavily into poetry. I started writing at the age of 13 and poems were my favourite thing to write. I am sad to say I lost of my original pieces but this book brought me back to one of my first loves in literature. I remember the first time I came upon John Donne's "The Good Morrow" my heart was captured. Thank you NetGalley and Gemini for giving me access to this ARC in time for Valentines Day! It was so nice to read through the way poets captured different aspects of love. I enjoyed how the imagery used to evoke feelings around love changes so much over time. I loved the poem by DGR, Emily Brontë, and Khalil Gibran. "What lips my lips have kissed" reminded me a lot of my relationship with my partner. I feel like this tome is a great full-proof guide to some of the literary greats on love. I even found some authors I had forgotten about but love, like Emily Dickinson and Sara Teasdale. The Kiss by Sara Teasdale was one of my favourite poems as a teenager! I also appreciate that the book has dedicated blurbs about famous poets from different times. Definitely a compact keeper of a book for anyone looking for a little romantic inspiration!

thank you to netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion!!!<3
as a poet myself…I hate to give my opinions here. but this was not it😭
the flow in most of these were off and some words just felt like they were thrown in for whatever reason. it had potential and the concepts were okay. i feel awful criticizing someone’s work but i can’t even say i felt emotion read them…they were just words😭

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, here is a lovely collection of poems that affirm and explore love in its many guises. The poems are organized into chapters titled, Eternal Love, Romantic Love, Doomed Love (not so good for Valentines perhaps), and Sexual Love.

Within this short title, are poems that will be both new and old to readers. I found the opening one by Anne Bradstreet to be quite lovely and that was only one of my favorites. Just some of the other poets whose work I read in this book were Christina Rossetti,Emily Dickinson, Kahil Gibran, Langston Hughes, and Sappho.

Readers will find their own favorites in these pages. This book will be enjoyed by those who are drawn to poetry, love and relationships.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Gemini Books Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

The Pocket Love Poems is a timeless collection, including the work of William Shakespeare, Emily Dickenson, and many others. It's a lovely collection between romantic poems, friendship to lovers, loss, and much more. The best part of this book in my opinion is the fact that you can read it in one afternoon and it exposes you to a style of poetry that you might not reach for typically.

Thanks to netgalley for the arc!

Me gustó mucho la edicion y el rejunte de este poemario. Lo que si me tiró para atras eran las minimas biografias que te hacian de algunos autores. Esta antología poética con buenos poetas y la edicion y el amor que tiene. Lo amo.
