This was a cute and clean romance book. This is the first I've read by this author and I'll definitely read more. I don't recommend starting with this one since it's the fourth in the series if you don't spoilers. I don't mind spoilers though and I actually search them out often 😂. Anyway, this book was a good even though I got frustrated with the female mc. I understand why she was written the way she is and that made easier. I felt like sometimes the story was a bit choppy but it didn't dull my enjoyment. As I said I'll definitely go back and read the others in this series.
🌶️There is some kissing and some sexy talk but it doesn't go any further.
🤫 No bad language

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for letting listen to this audiobook.

But He’s My Roommate is the final book in the But He’s a Carter Brother series by Annah Conwell. Each story stands alone with interconnected characters but reading the entire series is ever so much more enjoyable!

Maverick Carter’s best friend Drew Wilder has called upon him for help. Drew believes his younger sister Evie, also a good friend, is in trouble. A fashion photographer in NYC, Evie married a top male model and has a young baby, but the phone call Drew’s wife received from Evie seemed that of a panicked new mom who seemed to have no backup. As such, Maverick finds himself on a flight to New York with Drew and a sketchy plan to help a resistant Evie. What Maverick and Drew find is a little sister who refuses to see them when they arrive, will meet briefly the next day before she leaves in a huff, and who does agree to meet Maverick the next day when he comes back bearing gifts.

As job opportunities disappear in NYC and the opportunity for a different life back home in Atlanta appears, Evie, with Maverick’s help, packs up her belongings and accompanies Maverick back home to take up residence with baby Beckham in Mav’s second floor apartment.

Once settled, family and friends embrace Evie back into the fold, and her new life begins to blossom, with Maverick at the forefront of her new life. This is a fun book with great characters but with some bittersweet moments. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it as well as the series.

Evie is alone with her baby and an unknown future. When her brother unexpectedly comes to town with Maverick, they try to convince her to come home.

Ohmylanta. These Carter brothers get all the heart eyes. The author calls this series a cozy romantic comedy and it’s exactly right. There are so many heartfelt moments as she finds her way to happy. And Maverick. Oooowwweee. He’s the knight in a shiny truck and motorcycle kind of armor. And I loved…
❤️the brothers and their epilogues
❤️the wives and their support
❤️Mav and Evie’s mama memories
❤️boxing
❤️the picture
❤️fighting over the baby
❤️absolute acceptance
❤️dual POV narration was a fantastic audiobook

The Rhyme: Just when Evie thinks all hope is lost she catches a ray of light. Can Mav convince her to picture a future that involves more than she thought it might?

The end of a series. Sad day, but a great overall epilogue!

Thank you soo much Netgalley for this amazing audiobook!
Evie and Mav have my heart!!! I love their dynamics and their chemistry was deep on emotional as well as physical levels. I admire Evie's character being so independent, courageous and confident. I loved mav's character as well as he was the perfect dynamic partner for Evie and respected her as an equal!
I adored the carter family and Drew is the perfect annoying sibling!!!!

It's a perfect small town romance, single parent and friends to lovers book!
Definitely recommending it ☺️

I listened to the audiobook of this story and I enjoyed the dual narration for this dual POV romance. I've liked this series and was looking forward to Maverick's romance. His character hit the notes I expected with his good guy vibes and protective personality. It didn't surprise me the way he fell for Evie and wanted to take care of her and her son. As much as I liked his character, the growth and character development in this story felt all one sided to me with only Evie seeming to really have a character arc. She was a little too stubborn for me at the start which I think had to do with the pacing not being quite on at the beginning. It was a cute read and I’ll continue to pick to up more books by this author.
I received an advance listening copy of the audiobook from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a reread via audio for me. Loved the dual narration! It is such a sweet and swoony single mom, brother’s best friend story—it tugs on the heart strings, makes you laugh, and basically melt into a puddle. I mean, who doesn’t love a knight in shining armor MC who helps takes care of a newborn?! I just love the Carter family to pieces and this was such a great end to the series!

Even though it's the 4th book in the series I really enjoyed the characters and the real life bits in the book. I have only read the first book and now this one. I really need to go back and read the other two. In this rom-com story a woman's life falls apart, she moves home and into her brother's best friend's house. He has always cared for her and now is turning his life upside down for her.

Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of Annah Conwell and I was so excited to finally see Maverick’s story. Though I’ve read the ebook already I LOVED hearing it in their voices. The audio was done so well, I went and listened to all the previous audio books.

Loved it!!
The portrayal of the emotions were so well done and just added depth to the story. The voices really brought the story more to life and was way better than what I imagined

I think this might be my favorite in the Carter brothers series??? I just loved it so much 🥺 I love a forced proximity/roommates trope and I’ve been waiting for this book since we see a glimpse of these characters in previous books. It was so sweet and the emotional depth was so good. The pacing and slow burn was also perfect!!

The way Maverick was so patient w Evie was so sweet and how he took care of her and Beckham made me 🥲 and Evie’s healing journey throughout the book was so sweet to read 🥺 also absolutely loved the narration of the audiobook!!!

I am so sad this series is over but hope to see more of these characters in future books 🤭

“ The connection that I have with Mav goes beyond chance or coincidence. It’s the kind of Destiny found in fairytales. Not matter how you spin our story it’s always us I the end. I would have found him or he would have found me. I’m certain of it” Maverick and Evie love story is meant to be. A great end to great series. I will miss the Carters for sure. The audiobook with Kim Churchill and John William Maddux is amazing

omg i LOVED THIS AUDIO!! It was literally just what I needed. A new to me author and new to me narrators and I absolutely loved it. I loveee a brothers best friend book plus she's a single mom!! So good!! The banter was so good and maverick was down so bad. I can't wait to go and read the rest of the series now.

All in on this protective brother's best friend single parent romance! I loved listening to Maverick and Evie's story. What set it apart for me is that they had their own relationship outside of just him being her brother's friend. That made their transition into the romantic realm more tangible for me. My initial impression when I first started the book was that he was going to be the closed off one, but it was the opposite; she was closed off and guarding her heart after her horrible ex did her dirty! Mav was so perfectly protective of her and it was beautiful to hear.
This has nothing to do with the book itself, but I wish I had discovered the series with book 1! I didn't realize that it was the 4th book in the series initially so it was hard for me to follow all of the other couples at first...BUT that just gives me 3 other books to add to my TBR.

this was short and sweet.
I didn’t dislike this book, but i also don’t see myself looking back at it and thinking about it much.

I enjoyed the characters, but there was little to no depth to them. Everything was there for the story to be knocked out of the park, but I just don’t feel like it was developed enough for me.

I think the angst and tension needed dialed up to show the couple’s chemistry more. They gave me the friends vibe, and i found myself not really caring if they ended up together or not.

You’re going to get such a good mix of tropes here:
🛋️ Forced Proximity
🛋️ Roommates
🛋️ Brother’s Best Friend
🛋️ Single Mom

BUT my issue is that it just wasn’t flayed out enough, and due to that it just kind of flopped on exacution for me.

It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t something that will lead a lasting impression. If you enjoy the tropes, definitely give it a try!

I also really enjoyed the narrators! They absolutely added to the story as a whole.

*4.5 stars rounded up *
I love every single Carter brother and Maverick was no exception. The banter between Evie and Maverick was my absolute favorite. Getting cameos from all of the other Carter brothers made it so much better. The narrators did such a great job bringing everything to life and I loved listening to this book so much. This was my second time reading But He’s My Roommate and I think I loved it even more than I did the first time.

I was given an ALC via NetGalley. All opinions expressed above are my own.

3.5 ⭐️-

This book was so cute! A quick, light romance listen that put me in a great mood. Before starting, I didn’t realize it was the last book in an interconnected series, so I definitely missed out on a few things, and I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the previous books. However, I was still able to enjoy it and easily follow the story around. I thought the narrators fit the characters extremely well.
Read if you want a dual POV romance with brother’s best friend, single mom, and obviously, roommate vibes 🤪

I finished this in one day, that’s how much I enjoyed it. It was a fun, light hearted read that gave exactly what I needed. The narrator was on point and I’ll be recommending to book club. 😊

This book had all the pieces to make a really great book, but fell flat on the execution for me.

It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't memorable either. There was nothing that made it stand out or speak to me in anyway. If anything it was a cute little time filler.

The tropes sound great, with the whole single mom, brother's best friend, moving in to his property, etc. And I respected the FMC's desire to take care of herself and her baby, but it seemed like she had a pretty great family and support system and was intentionally isolating herself and her child from them. Her own brother didn't even know that she had named her child after him until he was several months old and showed up on her doorstep demanding to let them help her.

I'm thinking maybe it just wasn't for me, but I really struggled to connect with the FMC. The MMC was fine, he was sweet, but kind of.. (i hate to say this, but) boring.

Kim Churchill & John William Maddux did a fine job of narrating. But I did find my mind wandering at times. I'm not sure if that was due to the narration or just the writing. But there were definitely moments where it didn't keep my attention.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy audiobook.
