Thank you netgalley and dreamscape media for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! 💗

Wow just wow now I love romances, I love the warm fuzzy, cosy feeling it gives! AND this gives all them fuzzes and more.

I haven’t read the other books so that’s a great indication that even if you read just one of these books you don’t need to read the whole series to follow the book it can be a stand alone. However after meeting the family and side characters I can’t help but want to know their stories to.

Evie and maverick have always been friends however as they got older life and all its hurdles got in the way of anything happening (not to mention maverick is Evie’s brothers bestfriend)
After Evie is left to navigate the life of a single mum after a divorce her brother drew and mav bring her home to live in mavs parent above the barn.

Mav knows this is his one chance of getting close to Evie again.

It’s a closed door romance and although this isn’t my norm I actually loved it it was just so lovely

This is totally a 5⭐️ and a recommendation I will 100% pass on!

I didn’t realize this book was the 4th in a series so I may not have had the investment others have when they’ve followed the whole series.

I thought the characters were sweet, Maverick is the ultimate cinnamon roll who does and says all the right things.

This is a closed door romance, includes kissing and very minimal alluding to things beyond kissing, a “good girl” for instance. But closed door romances don’t really bring it for me, it feels like high school or religious when the FMC is divorced and has a young child.

I may read the others in this series as some of the other female characters sound interesting.

The narration for perfectly. Her voice was classic female rom com and his was good for the closed door category since it didn’t give me the tingles open door book narrators do. Very fitting.

Thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC.

This was such a sweet story of second chances, healing & self discovery! I loved the connection between Evie & Maverick and how their story started as childhood friends. Maverick is so pure!!! The community around them was endearing also!

Bookish things:
• Friends to lovers trope
• Protective, cinnamon roll MMC
• Call each other by their last name
• Self discovery & healing
• Divorce & single mom rep

Thank you to the author & publishers for the opportunity to read this story through NetGalley before officially published!

This is a dual narrated story with voicing done by the actors! We have Evie, who finds herself as a divorced, single mom, all alone in NYC until her brother and his best friend come to tell her to move her. Maverick, the best friend, says she can live with him until she lands on her feet. Initially she said no, but changes her mind and well a super cute swoony story is on our hands. Closed door romance with lots of kissing. The narrators were absolutely delightful to listen to and kept me engaged the entire story!

Full disclosure, this book didn't really do it for me. That said, I still want to review it objectively.
This closed-door romance is closing out a series about siblings each falling in love. It is heavy on the romance and light on the comedy. It features a yearning MMC and an FMC who has been knocked down and is ready to get back up along with her sweet baby boy.
One of the biggest flaws in this book for me is that none of the conflicts drive the couple to come together or make them closer in any way.
The reader for the FMC in particular does a great job!

Book 4 of 4 standalones that follow each of the Carter brothers.

Series Name: But He's a Carter Brother

I finally got Maverick's book! Yay, because that man deserves love 🥹

This story follows Maverick and Evvie (Eh-vi, not Ee-vee). Mav & Evvie's brother have been best friends their whole lives, and so naturally, Mav has looked out for Ev like his life depended on it... until one day, she moves away to follow her career.

After her life falls to pieces, she decides to keep it all to herself... especially since she is newly divorced and her ex wants nothing to do with her or their baby. But her brother knows something is wrong and shows up to convince her to move home - with Mav, for backup.

As Mav quickly learns how much Evvie's life has crumbled, he asks her to move into his home so he can help her get back on her feet.

This was written so well, but am I shocked? NO. Annah Conwell has a beautiful way of writing genuine love and care.

🌻 Brother's best friend
🌻 Old school cruch
🌻 High tension/lust
🌻 Angst
🌻 Found family - the Carter family *swoon*
🌻 FMC is a single, new mother
🌻 Roomate of convenience
🌻 Tender and caring MMC
🌻 Proud and timid FMC
🌻 Forced Proximity

🎧 I loved the narrators. They both did so well. I would have preferred when the men read out all men's quotes (same for female) regardless of the POV. But otherwise, I still loved it.

ALC REVIEW
Title: But He's My Roommate
Author: Annah Conwell
Narrator: Kim Churchill & John William Maddux
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This is a 3.5⭐️ for me!

Overview: This is the story of Maverick and Evie. He's her brother's best friend whom she has known all her life, and she's a divorced single mom trying to get her life together for her son. Evie's brother and his best friend went to find her in New York and convince her to come back to Georgia. Finding herself with little to no option, she accepts their proposal to have her stay at Maverick's home while she rebuilds her life.

Tags & Triggers: While the story was generally light, there was talk of a parent's death, cheating (not between MCs), childhood trauma, grief, manipulative ex, and minor assault.

Thoughts: I enjoyed the easy romance and relationship between the MCs. They also didn't have any miscommunication between them and had a generally straightforward love story. And it's generally believable because they also have a shared history together. It's also sweet to show a supportive family unit how Evie overcame her anxiety from going back home as a single mom. This is apparently the last book in a series and the other brothers have their own stories.

I thought it was sweet, but at the same time there wasn't enough conflict for me engage with the story. It's a pretty easy romance to listen to, though.

The narrators also did a good job on this dual narration. I enjoyed listening to the audio and following this story.

Definitely recommended to those who like easy, light romance with no open door scenes.

Pick this up if you're looking for:
❣️Brother's best friend
❣️Single mom
❣️Forced proximity
❣️Friends to lovers
❣️Found family
❣️Shared bed
❣️No spice

I'd like to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for being given a chance get an ALC of this book. All opinions on this book is my own.

This was such a sweet audiobook; the voices really brought the story to life for me. I could understand all the emotions she was feeling. The story really pulls you into their life and it was hard to put down. This was my first book from Annah Conwell, now I need to read more of her books.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC.

This is a cute and cozy clean second chance, brother’s best friend, single mom romance. When the FMC’s life is spiraling, her brother and his best friend show up to convince her to move back to their hometown—obviously her brother’s best friend’s house is the perfect place. Only catch? Their childhood crushes have not eased over time. Slowly but surely the MMC works to bring down the FMC’s wall one piece at the time. Something extra special about this book is it has an epilogue for all the different couples throughout the series!

Thank you Net Galley for my free ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Book 4 of the But He's a Carter Brother series was released on Kindle Unlimited last August and now the audiobook is out. I received an advanced copy of the audiobook from NetGalley. Thank you.

The narrators did a good job with this story. I may have swooned a little over John William Maddox’s narration of Maverick. In the story, Evie says, “His voice is smooth and silky, like my favorite sipping chocolate I used to get in New York during the winter. I want to close my eyes and bask in it.” I can say Maddox pulls off that voice very well.

Evie’s brother Drew is the best friend of the last of the Carter brothers to find love, Maverick. Although Maverick actually has loved Evie since they all grew up together, Evie ended up marrying someone else—a narcissistic jerk. Fortunately, Evie and her 4-month-old baby are rid of the jerk, making way for Maverick to swoop in and rescue them. But Evie does not want to be rescued. She is quite adamant that she can take care of herself. No worries, though. Life happens and then love happens. Or rather, warm and gooey love is allowed to happen, finally. Maverick is a total cinnamon roll, except when he's being protective; then a dark side emerges. Briefly.

This story has sweet, serious, and funny moments. I particularly like the first boxing lesson. This book sort of glides over the serious issue of what recovering from living with a narcissist really looks like, but the focus is a sweet romance with the goal of getting to the HEA. And I’m willing to believe that the love of a kind and trustworthy man can do a lot of healing.

Those who read the entire series will especially love the final epilogue with short, in-the-future scenes with each of the brothers and their women. This is the first of this series that I’ve read, and I can tell from this book that the Carter brothers are a good bunch and it would be well worth reading all their stories.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!

This was a cute story, but definitely felt a little fast at points. I could appreciate the slow burn at the beginning, and understood the history between them, but the random blurt out of her I Love You felt out of character for me, and also out of nowhere. I wish there had been more lead up to that point.

However, it was a good easy story and i loved that there was no third act breakup.

I was bored. The FMC was very annoying. Seriously, she had a problem with someone she's known almost all her life helping her carry some suitcases??? It was a little bit too much. Yes, she's hurt, but she takes it out on the people she knew best. Maverick was sweet, protective, and kind and totally needs someone else in his life than the FMC.

The narration wad well done.

Just finished But He's My Roommate by Annah Conwell, and wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions! Although this is the last book in the series, it's the first one I’ve read, and it definitely left me wanting more! The writing is witty, fun, and steamy.
The book was such a satisfying conclusion, but after listening to this audiobook, I’m definitely going back to check out the prequels to see how everything started. If this book is any indication, Annah Conwell has a talent for creating captivating, complex characters and relationships that draw you in.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this entertaining audiobook.

The narrator did a great job. Kept me interested and not wanting to stop. The storyline was cute and fun. It was inline with the other books in the series. Cute, fun simple and delightful. I loved the independent and family themes.

If you are looking for comfort and romance, you will find it in this book. But He’s My Roomate is like a warm hug with all the feels.

Evie and Maverick have been friends since childhood, but they’ve been apart for several years. They have each suffered heartbreak in their separate relationships. Evie is now a single mom who needs a safe place to stay and Maverick offers to provide that. But can they find their way to a happy ending?

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this fabulously narrated audiobook!

4.5 stars

Annah Conwell is one of my favorite closed door romance authors and this one did not disappoint. The yearning between the MCs was well written and heartfelt while still tackling some hard topics like past relationship failures and being a single parent. I missed a couple of the middle books of the series but I think anyone who has read them all will love this as a bookend. I especially enjoyed the bonus epilogue at the end for each of the previous couples' lives after this book ends.

The narrators were fantastic but there were times where I wasn't a huge fan of some of the voices chosen for the side characters. Sometimes those felt cartoonish.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC!

But He's My Roommate
A cozy romantic comedy
(But he’s a Carter Brother #4)
by Annah Conwell
Narrated by Kim Churchill; John William Maddux

I received an ARC of this audiobook through Netgalley.

This is the 4th book in a series, and I didn’t listen to the previous 3.

Coming late to the story I missed out on a lot. How many Carter brothers are there? Why were they so close to Drew & Evy? Where do they live? Why does Maverick live out in the middle of nowhere?

It’s a romance book, so, of course, there’s going to be romance, right?

There was no real romance here. There was never really a falling in love part either. The slow burn and slow sizzle never really hit their mark.

Instead this book came off more like an inevitable melding of two lives that was always meant to be. It was like the actual falling in love happened years before this book ever took place.

There were a lot of moments of controlling behavior throughout this book that are honestly red flags to me. Sometimes people think they know what’s best for you when they don’t. Sometimes people think they know best, and they are right about it, but that doesn’t give them the right to dictate another person’s life or choices.

Some parts of this book are really sweet.

If you liked the rest of this series it would be worth listening to.

I can’t recommend this book because I think it sets a bad precedent for brutish, overbearing behavior and for it’s cousin - dictatorial controlling behavior that is done out of love and kindness. Control is control - whether it’s done out of love or not.

I think the author means well. I am certain they poured their heart and soul into this whole series. There really are some great scenes and moments in this book. It is clear that the author loves these characters and their lives.

The narrators did a great job too.

So, while I can’t bring myself to recommend this book - I do want to make it clear that many people put their hearts into this book, and that this book deserves to be cherished by those who can see past the parts I personally have trouble with.

Annah Conwell is quickly becoming one of my favorite author's. Her characters are real, relatable and adorable. I cant even deal with these Carter's. I love them all so much.

Great audiobook and a WONDERFUL edition to the series. Mav has my heart.

The last book in this series

Maverick has loved Evie (his best friend's sister) for as long as he can remember. He just hasn't admitted it to himself, much less others. When she is alone and divorced with an infant, he begs her to move back to Georgia and live with him. As they spend time together, he finds he can no longer deny his love for her. Will she ever feel the same?

There are closed door, clean, and squeaky clean romances. This series is squeaky clean. Which, unfortunately, means there is little chemistry between the characters. I'm sure it is very hard to write when the characters never get past a chaste kiss. And, I am sure many people appreciate super clean romances. I prefer some tension and chemistry. So while this series is decent, it is not something that will stick with me. I will likely forget most of this by next month.

I did like how willing Maverick was to help with the baby. It was very sweet.

Kim Churchill and John William Maddux narrate the audiobook. I always appreciate two narrators for dual POVs.

I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Annah Conwell for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book is the final story in a four part series- I have not read the previous books. With that said I do believe one can pick up enough context clues and inferences to understand what you missed- but don't quite believe this reads that well as a standalone.

This story is enjoyable for anyone that adores brother's best friend, childhood friends to lovers, "he's not my baby, but I'll love him like my own", move from the big city to the small town, no intimate scenes and with a gaslighting ex thrown in.

The dual pov/narration was done really well and I would definitely seek out these narrators again.
