Someone please dust off a tiara because BK Borison is the next Queen of Christmas. I should start out mentioning that I loved her previous novel Lovelight Farms where two characters fall in love at a Christmas Tree farm. Borison just has a smoothness while writing her Christmas novels. Nolan and Harriet are prefection for this particular novel. The pining, the forbidden love, and the spice! This novel was amazing, I'll be recommending it to friends, my bookclub, and anyone who will listen.

This book reminds me of the reasons I love B.K. Borison as an author!! From the first page, she had me hooked and that’s how I felt about her Lovelight Farms series. The characters she developed in the book were perfection.

Harriet was such a treat and her growth and increase in self-confidence during the story made my heart so happy. And NOLAN, the sexy, grumbly, grumpy ghost- I am obsessed. The chemistry between these two was fantastic and the pining gave me butterflies!!!

This is 100% a must read for the festive season this year. Also a must read if you love grumpy/sunshine between the Ghost of Christmas Past & Antique Store Owner!!!!

This book is a perfect cozy holiday romance that feels like you’re being wrapped in a warm mistletoe hug. It’s filled with magic, mayhem, and lots of Christmas spirit.

On the first day of December, Harriet discovers she’s being haunted by Nolan—a hot, mysterious Irish ghost of Christmas past. He is tasked with mending her ways and exploring her past so that she can learn from her mistakes and he can be one step closer to the afterlife. But Nolan quickly realizes Harriet isn’t a typical assignment. She’s as sweet as a candy cane, a people pleaser at heart, and nothing like the Scrooge-like clients he’s used to. As they dig into her past, they unexpectedly uncover pieces of Nolan’s as well, realizing their lives are mysteriously intertwined. Can they unravel the truth and unlock their futures before the Christmas Eve deadline?

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this arc.

Thank you NetGalley and B.K Borison for the chance to read this ARC.

This was my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last.

I absolutely loved these characters, except Harriet’s mother, she can kick rocks… with no shoes on. Harriet is colorful and fun and her addiction to candy is the best thing about her.

When the ghost of Christmas “past” comes to haunt her, Harriet has no idea what she has done wrong and as they travel back in time, Nolan (the ghost), also questions what she could need to fix and together they discover the most beautiful love story.

I love the way Nolan defends her and grows to love all of her little quirks. I love the way Harriet wants to help Nolan move on to the afterlife and how she’s willing to risk her own heart to help him. I love the cat and how the cat is a link between not only Harriet and Nolan, but someone else later in the story.

This story was such a good read for something sweet and romantic and it would be perfect at Christmas time.

Dare I say this is my new favorite B.K. Borison book. The paranormal pivot was unexpected but pleasantly surprising. Her writing and creativity completely shines in this new genre but still pulls at the heartstrings like you'd expect her books to. Being a people-pleaser myself, I felt so connected to Harriet's character and the beautifully vulnerable way BKB writes her, I have no doubt other readers are going to feel the same. I'll forever talk about this book especially being a Baltimore native and hopeless romantic myself.

Thank you to DJ and Avon for letting me read GOOD SPIRITS, this book will be my hyper fixation and obsession for the foreseeable future! I'm sure it will be tons of reader's new obsession as well when pub date rolls around, but I'll still tell anyone willing to listen to grab themselves a copy!! Wishing you all an amazing pub day!!!

I loved this book! It was my first book by this author and I really want to read more. The story was pure Christmas magic and I didn't want it to end. I just love Harriet and Nolan. It definitely seemed like this wouldn't be the last book so I'm excited to read more!

thank you so much to the publisher for the early copy! i am always so appreciative. i have decided to dnf this one at 25% (for now). first-time caller is one of my all time favorite books and while good spirits is a cutesy christmas book, i just am having the hardest time getting into this and connecting with this one. i feel like the characters are lacking chemistry & i've been a bit bored throughout. i am hoping i will give this another chance sometime soon!

From the very first page, Harriet shines as a character with a heart of gold and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people. Her kindness isn’t naive—it’s a deeply rooted part of who she is, making her the kind of character you just want to hug. And then there’s Nolan, whose slow-burning friendship with Harriet is the perfect blend of playful banter, quiet understanding, and just the right amount of flirting to make you swoon. Their relationship unfolds so naturally that you almost don’t realize when friendship turns into something deeper, and it’s the kind of romance that feels real—full of hesitation, hope, and those little moments that mean everything.

While the book had a bit of a slow start, once it hit its stride, I was completely hooked. Borison’s writing is stunning—effortlessly emotional, beautifully tender, and packed with lines that made me pause just to soak them in. The last several chapters? Absolutely wrecked me in the best way. I was full-on bawling, caught up in the rawness and heartache, but also the warmth that carries through every page. Good Spirits is one of those books that sneaks up on you, leaving you thinking about its characters long after you’ve turned the last page.

I didn’t want this one to end - the perfect blend of adorable and emotional. It was like reading a warm holiday hug with a strong emotional punch.

This is the first paranormal type romance from this author but the story still felt authentically B.K. Borison. Both characters were well-rounded and I loved seeing their relationship evolve.

There were so many times I just wanted to give Harriet a massive hug. Her feeling like she had to make herself smaller, change herself, to be accepted and included by those around her was heartbreaking.

I adored that the message was that Harriet chose to be herself - chose to be optimistic and whimsical - and the lesson wasn’t to change herself. She was ultimately able to settle things on her own terms, in line and true to her own personality.

The one minuscule thing I didn’t really like was Sasha. She was barely in it, but every time it felt like she was portrayed as a bad employee but not acknowledged as a bad employee. I couldn’t get over the impression that she took advantage of Harriet’s trusting nature.

Overall, another definite five-star read from B.K. Borison. I look forward to the next stories in this world!

From just from the dedication, I knew this wouldn’t be an ordinary holiday romance. I always knew BK Borison was magic. Good Spirits takes her ever-present romance sparkle and bespells it into enchanted snow.

I’m a gosh darn sucker for all things Christmas and I KNEW this was going to be the perfect book for me.

It gives the classic witty banter while matching with holiday romance perfection. I gobbled this up in less than 24 hours.

Don’t sit on it! Preorder the ebook. Preorder the paperback. Any special editions. And dedicate an entire shelf to BK cuz she deserves it!

A holiday romance with the Ghost of Christmas Past and an antique store owner. Unique storyline. I found it quite emotional. Absolutely loved Harriet and Nolan.

Thanks to Avon Books for this book in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Good Spirits to come out October 21, 2025.

BK Borison’s first foray into magical realism comes with her signature vivid storytelling and fantastic writing.

I thought the premise was cute and creative. A Christmas Carol but with a hot Irish ghost? Sign me up! This is a delightfully cozy holiday romance, but also a surprising tear-jerker. I enjoyed the grumpy/sunshine dynamic and thought that Harriet’s character growth was written particularly well.

The magical realism reminded me a little of Ashley Poston, so if you’re a fan of her work you’ll likely enjoy this book as well!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!

This author is new to me, but I will be keeping an eye out for anything else they publish. I loved the story and the characters. The pacing of the story was great and the characters were relatable.

thank you netgalley for the ARC 🎄❤️

something about B.K.’s writing always has the distinct ability to pull you right in and make you feel like you’re living in the story — and that is 100% the case with this book as well. I remember reading Lovelight Farms thinking ‘I need a million more of these’ and here we are, right back to that feeling that comes so easily when she writes. Her attention to detail builds such an incredible story and Good Spirits is exactly that. It’s adorable, it’s cozy with just the right amount of adventure, it’s got amazing banter and cuteness, and the romance is to die for. Put this on your TBR for the holidays because trust me, it’ll be the perfect read. I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, I swooned, and then I cried when it was over.

If you liked ‘The Nightmare Before Kissmas’ by Sara Raasch, ‘Do Your Worst’ by Rosie Danan, or obviously Lovelight Farms - you’ll love this book ❤️🎄

How can I give this book more than five stars?!

I knew it was going to be an easy win. After all, BK BK Borison wrote it. What I couldn’t quite figure out at the beginning was how she was going to resolve a love story between a woman and a ghost. Inspired by Charles Dickens‘ A Christmas Carol, Borison put a terrific new spin on an old story. I loved every page!

I think this is the sixth Borison book I’ve read and as always, I fell in love with her characters. Harriet isn’t just the fun, colorful owner of an antique shop. She’s got a lot of unfinished business with her family. She’s as insecure as you and I are. And Nolan? Sure, he’s a sexy, rugged fisherman, but there’s one thing he does have over on Harriet. If you consider being dead having one thing over on her…

One thing I want to point out about this book is I found it very visual. I could see everything, I could see the magic, I could see the love, I could see and feel it all. I never thought I could find a couple. I loved as much as Stella and Luka from Lovelight Farms, but Harriet and Nolan come close!

Thanks to Avon/HarperCollins and NetGalley for the advance digital copy. I’m SO glad I didn’t have to wait until October to read this one!

I am obsessed with B.K. Borison and anything that they write! The first part of this one felt a bit repetitive but once the story gets going I couldn't put it down! I'm a sucker for an Irish accent and a completely devoted and obsessed love interest.
