This one started off pretty solid. I was definitely hooked at the start. but throughout the remainer of the book - it didn't fully get me with the thrill. Shelby survives quite the scary attack and fast forward a year - she's trying to move on with her life - but threatening notes are starting to appear. There were definitely a lot of characters to keep track of. Overall narration was fine. I did finish it. I think it's a solid book that many will enjoy. Just not my favorite thriller. Thank you to Macmillan audio and Netgalley for this audio in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was very good. I loved the cast of characters and the twist of an ending was not what I expected. Narration was excellent.

There was a lot wrong with this book, but I enjoyed it and was happy to pick it up again. Mindless, catchy, enjoyable.

MY THOUGHTS-
This was my first novel by Seraphina Nova Glass, and the wintry small-town backdrop captivated me right away. Florence and her hilarious gang of amateur detectives at the Oleander home were both heartwarming and razor-sharp, often overshadowing the local police. It gave me Only Murders in the Building and The Thursday Murder Club vibes. Their antics and determination to crack the case had me smiling all the way. Although it’s not the twistiest thriller I’ve read, the pacing was brisk, and the variety of surprises kept me on my toes. The small-town atmosphere with hidden secrets added to the intrigue, making it an enjoyable read overall. The audio version of this book pumped it up to 4 stars for me.

Shelby is attacked and left for dead. She survives but has no idea who her attacker is. A group of senior citizens start a podcast and attempt to help investigate.
This book hooked me immediately. And then there were too many characters and POV switches for me to follow. By the end, I didn't really care who the bad guy was. I'm disappointed because I love books set in Minnesota.
I like when there are different narrators for different POVs and the audiobook was well produced. However, one of the voices sounded too young for the character.

I enjoyed this one a little bit. Not my favorite…seem to be all over the place. The ending was a good one though!

So many mysteries in one little town.. are they all connected? Or just a coincidence?
Shelby and Mack are lifelong friends. But one night changes their life forever. Shelby is attacked almost left for dead the same night Mack's husband goes missing. When Mack discovers some troubling secrets her husband was keeping, the police think they have it all figured out. But do they?
This was a classic thriller from Seraphina Nova Glass! This was a fast paced novel that kept you turning the page and scratching your head throughout the story. I loved the "gang" of senior citizens, they really made the book fun!
My one complaint was there were just a few too many characters to keep track of.
Thank you so much to NetGalley & Harlequin for the ARC!

The book opens with Shelby Dawson stopping at the cafe she owns to grab her daughter's stuffed animal. She stumbles upon a break in of sorts and is left to die. Her BFF Mackenzie (Mack) has an uneasy feeling and Shelby is saved. Mack's husband, Leo, disappears the same night and she is left wondering what happened to him. Fifteen months later, a newscaster brings up Shelby's story and someone comes forward with some video footage. Suddenly, Shelby is receiving threats and she is once again attacked. Leo is still missing and Mack doesn't know if he ran off or if something happened to him. When she finds paperwork in their basement she realizes that he was keeping a lot of secrets from her. Did he have anything to do with what happened to Shelby? Shelby and Mack are working at the Oleander Retirement Home and several of the residents want to help solve the mystery of what happened to Shelby? Who is wreaking havoc now? and What happened to Leo? Hijacking one of the residents literary podcasts, they begin to post about their search for the truth. Once this happened, the threats to Shelby heat up. Will they solve the mystery or will Shelby end up dead like someone had planned 15 months earlier?
The story is told from three POVs, Shelby, Mack and Florence, one of the residents. Although the beginning is chilling and I was expecting an edge of your seat thriller, it was more of a mystery with a few twisty attacks along the way. Detective Riley doesn't believe Shelby or Florence when they come to him with information, and that almost causes someone to die. They are fluffed off as either too old or hysterical, unfortunately a bit too real today for my liking. I loved the seniors getting involved in this story. They were smarter than they were given credit for and were able to intuit some things that helped solve the case. I have to mention Gus. Shelby found the pup in her basement and ended up giving him to one of the residents at Oleander. He was a great support when there were some difficult issues. I was sure I had it all figured out, but of course, I was wrong. The ending was a bit quick, but fit what had happened in the story, and really made me think. A bit of a moral dilemma for sure. Overall, I enjoyed this story and the characters were great. Listening to this one was an enjoyable experience. With three POVs, it was great that there were three narrators: Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard. They gave each of the women a distinct voice and it was easy to tell who was narrating each chapter. Although a bit different from Ms. Glass' normal thriller fare, this mystery had enough twists and questions to make it an enjoyable story.

Didn't love it but it was still entertaining. Enjoyed the humor f the story, but a little over the top for my tastes.

✨Thriller Thursday Arc Review ✨
Out now!
Shelby survives an attack of sorts that should have left her dead. She survived and needs to move on… for the safety of her friends and family. Also on this night, her best friend, Mackenzie’s husband disappears…
It’s now 15 months later, with no answers at all, when anonymous note shows up on Shelby’s car threatening her safety again. More evidence emerges and it puts her attack back in the news. It also puts it in front of a group of senior citizens who make the case go viral online.
More suspicious “accidents” keep happening to those around her and Shelby can’t help but feel she’s being watched.
All the while, Mackenzie is hunting down leads trying to figure out what has happened to her husband. So many clues and so much new evidence is being discovered… is Mackenzie’s husband alive or dead? Also, where is Shelby? No one has seen her after a drunken night out where she went off on the cops for not doing their jobs. The well meaning senior citizens have started a podcast and are unearthing more clues and suspects trying to get to the bottom of everything. Can they figure out who’s behind all of this before someone else goes missing or worse, dies?
🎤 So many fun characters with this one! I loved all them so much. It was a lot of characters though so it might be hard to follow for some. Took me a bit so know who was who. The writing was great though and pacing was fast. I really enjoyed the different storylines and how they intertwined. The twists and turns this took kept me stumped. That was enough for me to give this 5 stars but the ending? The ending really made this book. I really and thoroughly enjoyed that!
This was my first book by @seraphinanovaglass so thank you to @netgalley for putting this on my radar. Will definitely be going back to read more from her! Highly recommend!

3.5 ⭐️for story but 5 ⭐️for characters. I wish this was a thing because while the story didn’t rock my socks, the narration and great characters made me just love it. Seraphina is always winning with her audiobooks. She writes the best group of characters every time!! I love the multi POVs and the group living setting in her books.

Great audiobook! The narration was excellent and kept me engaged from the beginning.
The storyline was also great. Really enjoyed this book from the first chapter. There were quite a few characters, had to pause at times to remember who was who. Also, I usually dislike books that decide to take things into their own hands and not go to the police but this one is different. Glad that it was mentioned why the main characters decided to do that.
Absolutely recommend this audiobook to any thriller lover. Thank you to Netgalley for this audiobook ARC. Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass is out now!

The story: JUST when I thought I knew what was going to happen I was taken for spin. The storyline is fast paced, keeps you on your toes, not able to put it down. The characters are so loveable and I absolutely loved the aspect of the retirement home and their perspectives. There are many characters and perspectives but it’s written so well that you don’t get confused. I was invested in this book until the end, listening every chance I got. I absolutely loved the aspect of the seniors making their podcast, it made the story fun and added so much extra enjoyment and lightened up the thriller element.
The Audio: This was done exceptionally well. The voices were done so well that you knew who each character was. I was never confused listening.
Over all this book was a wild ride that I’m so glad I hopped on. I couldn’t put this down once I started listening.

They say nothing ever happens in small towns, but in this Minnesota town an attack on a female citizen leads a group of well-meaning senior citizens to do a little investigating along with a podcast!
Thanks so much @htp_hive and @htpbooks for the physical copy of the book as well as the ebook and audiobook via @netgalley. After a slow moving first half, the second half picked up and accelerated the plot which kept me engaged. I found the senior squad endearing and found myself smiling as I visualized their conversations.

The beginning of this book hooked me, but unfortunately it fizzled out from there. I usually enjoy different POVs but found it hard to keep track of who was who, especially between Shelby and Mack. I enjoyed the group of seniors from the care home and their adventure into podcasting, by far the best part of this book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Nothing Happens Here… well I kind of feel like this title matched this book…. I felt like nothing really happened at all in this book… I was not my favorite… I did like the elderly and their banter so it gets one star for them!

I enjoyed this story so much.
Everyone knows everyone in small town Mn.
The conversations in the book were so natural and fun to listen to, despite the gravity. There was great banter and laugh out loud parts as they try and put the pieces together and figure out who is behind the attacks.
I listened to the audiobook over a couple of days-it was a front row seat to a play and I lapped it up from the edge of my seat!
With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advance listening copy.

Shelby Dawson is attacked one night and left for dead. She survives but her best friend’s husband goes missing the same night. The mystery still isn’t solved 15 months later when people around Shelby start experiencing suspicious accidents.
An active group of seniors, in the residence Shelby works at make the story go viral. The incidents ramp up and it goes sideways from there.

Not what I expected. More lighthearted and humorous than expected. Also, suspenseful mystery. A delight.

This is a good one! A missing husband, a group of spunky retirement home friends who are trying to host a true crime podcast, and a mom who keeps getting mysteriously attacked but the police are not on their side. The narrators did N excellent job. Thank you NetGalley, Seraphina Nova Glass, and Harlequin Audio for the ARC audiobook.

This was for the most part a typical small town crime story, but what made it stand apart was the addition of the group of seniors who lived in a retirement home together. They were the best part of the book. The other thing was the small town police department of a couple of good ole boys who basically didn't listen to women or the elderly. I don't know how they could be quite as incompetent 9or corrupt) as they were, but who am I to say that's not possible. Anyway, my recommendation to Glass for her next novel is to center it around a senior living group--so much potential. I loved the characters she has already created, but she may have damaged their hearts too much to put them through more!
Thank you to #NetGalley and #HarlequinAudio for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
