This was for the most part a typical small town crime story, but what made it stand apart was the addition of the group of seniors who lived in a retirement home together. They were the best part of the book. The other thing was the small town police department of a couple of good ole boys who basically didn't listen to women or the elderly. I don't know how they could be quite as incompetent 9or corrupt) as they were, but who am I to say that's not possible. Anyway, my recommendation to Glass for her next novel is to center it around a senior living group--so much potential. I loved the characters she has already created, but she may have damaged their hearts too much to put them through more!
Thank you to #NetGalley and #HarlequinAudio for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 stars. This one was definitely a mixed bag! The book starts with a bang to draw the reader in, but the pacing was all over the place - there are moments you can't stop turning pages and moments where it drags. I was enjoying the way the mystery of it all was unfolding until maybe half way through and then it went a bit off the rails (it threw in some almost cozy-like elements that didn't really match the rest of the book). The writing of the police characters was just dreadful in such a way that it actually took me out of the story I was so annoyed. On audio while doing chores and stuff this was a decent listen, but there are definitely stronger reads out there.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is the first book I have read by Seraphina Nova Glass. I enjoyed the narration and the story was a cozy small-town mystery, but rather forgettable.

I’ve loved Glass’s other books so of course i was very excited for this one! However this is quite a bit different from her previous works - she usually writes gritty and twisty domestic thrillers but this leans a bit more into cozy mystery territory following older protagonists. It was an enjoyable time but cozy mystery is just not my personal cup of tea so this didn’t work for me as well as others from her.

I went the audiobook route for this one, and the production was top-notch—great narration that kept me engaged throughout. While Nothing Ever Happens Here isn’t my favorite from Seraphina Nova Glass, it delivered an entertaining ride with a mix of suspense, small-town paranoia, and a touch of dark humor.
The story follows Shelby, a woman trying to rebuild her life after surviving a brutal attack. Just as she starts to feel safe again, cryptic threats reappear, and the past refuses to stay buried. What begins as an unsettling mystery spirals into a tangled web of secrets, missing people, and a group of internet-savvy senior citizens accidentally amplifying the chaos. The dual mystery—who attacked Shelby and what really happened to Mackenzie’s missing husband—adds layers of intrigue, though at times, the plot leaned more into entertainment than deep psychological tension.
There were moments where the twists felt a little over-the-top, but honestly, I didn’t mind. The pacing kept me hooked, and I appreciated the mix of tension and levity. If you’re looking for a fast-moving thriller with plenty of surprises (and don’t mind a bit of small-town absurdity), this one is worth checking out.

Story: 3.5/5 ⭐️
Audio Narration Rating: 4/5 ⭐️
Nothing Ever Happens Here is the first book I have read by this author. It had a blend of suspense, humor, and tension.
The audio performance held my attention. It had good flow, and I could easily tell the narrators and the characters apart.
Although the plot pacing was uneven at times, I remained interested in how things were unfolding and committed to figuring out how the story would end. There was enough buildup and suspense created to keep me guessing, and I didn't pinpoint "whodunnit" ahead of time. Still, the reveal didn't wow me. The final chapters lacked some sizzle and excitement.
I'd recommend Nothing Ever Happens Here to those who like a small town, cozy mystery.

3.5 stars, rounded up. Great as an audiobook!
I like Glass's suspense novels, they are always filled with twisty mysteries that keep me guessing throughout.
Shelby is attacked and left for dead, and she barely survives. Her husband Leo disappeared that same night. Over a year later, Shelby has somewhat put her life back together, but she has no idea of what happened to Leo. The more she delves into his accounts, the more secrets it seems he was keeping. With the help of her friend Mackenzie and a group of feisty senior citizens from the assisted living facility where Shelby works, they try to figure out who hurt Shelby and if that person still wants her dead.
I loved the introduction of the senior citizens making a podcast to investigate what was going on, although it did make things a bit silly from time to time. The identity of the villain(s) is not necessarily too difficult to determine, but I did like the investigation and how everything was pieced together. The way that everyone came together to solve the crime was heartwarming, even in the midst of some pretty terrible events.
The audiobook provided three different points of view with three narrators, and that kept things moving quickly and kept my interest. This is a great way to experience this book. I look forward to Glass's next offering!

Winter in small town Minnesota is the perfect backdrop for this captivating thriller. Narrated in turns by Shelby, Mack and Florence we slowly unravel the mystery of all the strange happenings in the snowy little town over the last year.
The highlight of this one for me was the elderly residents at the “Oleander Retirement Home”. Who banded together as concerned citizens to help solve the murders and mysteries by starting a podcast… and going viral.
This thriller has attempted murder, murder, missing persons and all the drama and interpersonal relationships that come along with small town USA.
Through the reveal of who our villain was wasn’t the “WOW” I was hoping for. I still thoroughly enjoyed this one and will definitely be looking for more from this author.
Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Audio for the ARC audio book!

Senior main characters, a missing husband, and some mysterious deaths - what is happening in this small, remote town?
I truly enjoyed this read. I am a fan of this author, and I was excited to read this book. The main characters are older, and I love that different aspect of this thriller. The community really rallied together to solve the mysteries in this story, and while there were thrilling twists and turns, I still felt all the cozy vibes while listening to this one. There was great character development, and the plot was fast paced. I couldn't stop listening as I just had to know what was going too happen next. The full cast narration had me all in and unable to press pause.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I love this crazy book. It is oddly wholesome with all the murder mystery and missing husbands. It was just great. Fantastic narrators for every part too!

A cozy mystery to keep you guessing in this small town. Everyone bands together to solve a crime that has shaken everyone up.
A quick stop to a friends cafe changes the course of everyone’s life. I thought I had it figured out. Boy was I wrong!
If you aren’t a usual mystery reader you will still love this story.

Seraphina Nova Glass delivers a twisty winter thriller with Nothing Ever Happens Here, a novel that starts strong and keeps the suspense high throughout. The premise is gripping, pulling the reader (or listener, in my case) into a web of secrets and small-town intrigue.
The pacing is fast, and the writing is engaging, making it easy to get caught up in the mystery. I found myself eager to return to the story, finishing the audiobook in just two days. However, as the book progressed, the increasing number of characters and POVs became overwhelming, making it difficult to keep track of the narrative threads. While the twists were well-executed, the big reveal towards the end felt underwhelming, and I believe the story could have wrapped up in a more satisfying way.
Despite these minor drawbacks, Nothing Ever Happens Here is an enjoyable read for fans of psychological thrillers. It’s well-written, atmospheric, and filled with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. Though not my favorite from the genre, I’d still recommend it to those looking for a solid, fast-paced mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley & Harlequin Audio for my Advanced Listener Copy.

This is my 1st audiobook from NetGalley & I’m so thankful they approved this one for me. That being said, let’s chat about this book. I loved this audiobook & thought all of the narrators did a great job! I loved all of the seniors at Oleander’s & had several LOL moments with the “gang”. I especially loved Florence & her POV. This thriller kept me guessing with each chapter. I was able to finish this audiobook in a sitting so I would definitely recommend this book/audiobook. This was also a 1st read for me from this author so I will definitely check out her other books. Thanks again NetGalley!

Special thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. I really enjoyed the narrators and after reading some of the reviews, I think the narration really helped me to be able to follow along and stay interested. I really loved the old folks in the book and the humor that they provided. Was this a sit on the edge of your seat thriller? No. But I did not guess the twist; even if that twist wasn't all that impressive, it still kept me guessing. The end was my least favorite part of the book as it felt like an unnecessary solution.

As someone who loved the physical book, the audio made it even better. Highly recommend the audio version of you're an audiobook lover

I have read one other book from this author and after reading this book, I am definitely going to have to pick up their backlist. And I will definitely read from them in the future.
This book is a clear when your pass comes back to haunt you excellent cast of characters that left me on the edge of my seat

Seraphina Nova Glass juxtaposes the trope that small towns are notoriously boring, alongside a classic crime mystery in her latest novel "Nothing Ever Happens Here." The first few chapters are well-paced, and they are a mixture of plot driven storyline filled character development. The next few chapters slow while laying the groundwork for the mystery. Glass uses a group of elderly to charge the story with humor. The elderly characters are working together to solve the mystery, while the main co-supporting female characters are also trying to solve the mystery. Many people are hurt in the process. I appreciate that Glass explores: "How far would you go to save your family, friends, and neighbors?"
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators kept me engaged. I will look for more audiobooks that are narrated by #BrittanyPressley, #StaceyGlemboski, and #PetreaBurchard.
I would like to thank #Netgalley, #HarlequinAudio, and #SeraphinaNovaGlass for the advanced audio copy. My opinions are my own.

Good “who-dun it” that keeps the reader/listener guessing. I enjoyed the “odd squad elderly gang”, it added a fun , cute element to the mix. I did find the multi-layered stories took away from the overall plot, but it’s understandable to add to the tension/vibe of the book.

Enjoyable. Classic thriller/whodunnit. I didn’t think the beginning felt the same as the rest of the book. The first few chapters felt ordinary and not particularly engaging but luckily, once I got past that, it all changed.
From a cast of senior citizen characters to a good old fashioned whodunnit, Nothing Ever Happens Here flies by revealing who is behind it all, in a creepy way, to boot!
Advanced listener copy provided by Harlequin Audio but all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the audio book and the different pov’s, I had this arc in audio book. The readers voices keep me engaged! Great thriller
