Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!

In a small Minnesota town during a brutal winter, a woman is attacked and her best friend’s husband goes missing. A year later, things are still going on and a group of people in the small town try to figure out what is going on.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved all of the characters in this one. We have a group of elderly who try to solve these mysteries and they’re really likeable. The rest of the characters are really likable as well.

I loved the winter setting as well. I think the cold and snow really helped to increase the stakes in this thriller. The twists were interesting and the mystery kept me engaged the whole time.

I listened to the audiobook of this one and really enjoyed it! I think the narrator was great and I would recommend.

I was over the top thrilled when NetGalley approved me for this advanced audio. Seraphina Nova Glass has become an underrated auto-buy for me in this genre! This one … not so much. I loved the how the first chapter sucked me in and had me preparing to spend the entire day listening to this audio book! But the following chapters really lost its oomph- and I had to restart it 3x before I willed myself to keep listening. The rest of the book was a lot of the same. I couldn’t connect with the characters, I didn’t see how it was all going to circle back to the first big chapter, and felt lost along the way. Now, could it have been a mood read and I wasn’t in the right mood? Absolutely! But typically when that happens, I break through and go again. This time, I tried over several days and couldn’t find it. I DID finish the book and felt like it came full circle- just never really hooked me after the first chapter.

This one was a little bit of hit-and-miss for me. It started out with a bang then sort of fizzled out for a bit, before picking back up, and racing headlong into serious craziness. I did like the group of seniors with their podcast and a bit of humor thrown in but still found myself getting lost halfway through. Three narrators, one for each POV, did a fair job of helping me distinguish between all the different characters.

This had everything I want in a domestic thriller!!
I was completely hooked from the very first chapter.... the tension, the twists, the drama - I could not stop listening! I already love a good podcast in a book on a normal day, but make it a true crime podcast run by a group of spunky, delightful seniors trying to crack a case??!?!?! I melt. It was clever, engaging, and so much fun! Admittedly, the ending threw me for a bizarre loop, but I still rocked with it.

Fans of fast-paced, character-driven thrillers with just the right amount of humour are going to adore this.

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass
.
Nothing ever happens in small towns. But one night a man goes missing and a woman is attacked and left to die in a small Minnesota town. Shelby survives the attack and lives in fear of her attacker finding her or her family again. Meanwhile Mackenzie cannot help to keep hoping her husband is alive out there somewhere, even though that would mean he left her.
.
What I liked:
-This was a fast paced mystery that kept the secrets slowly revealing and the suspense simmering. I loved every minute of it.
-I adored our older community and their desire to help. The fact that they learned how to put together a popular podcast was applaud-worthy.
-I didn’t really see the end coming.
-I was seriously worried for one characters life multiple times! The tension was real.
-The audio was flawless, it kept me on the edge of my seat, anxious to know what happened next.
.
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you love fast paced and suspenseful mystery books then be sure to add Nothing Ever Happens Here to your read-list!

The story starts out with a horrific crime that shocks this small, tranquil town of Rivers Crossing to its core. Mack, a devoted wife, business owner, and loyal friend, finds herself in her own version of hell when her husband goes missing the same night her best friend, Shelby, is attacked in her restaurant. Shelby wasn't supposed to survive the attack - and thus, she is determined to find answers. A year and a half later, the town seems to be recovering until signs point to the danger still being present. The more Shelby and Mack dive into this mystery, the more secrets are uncovered. Now everyone is on edge, even the retirement home residents at Oleanders.

Florence, from Oleanders, wants to start a new hobby and decides to recruit her fellow residents to help her start a podcast to solve the mystery of what happened to Shelby that fateful night. Florence is my favorite character from this book. She is smart, funny, sarcastic, and downright nosy. She won’t take “no” for an answer and will do whatever she can in her power to find the truth and get justice.

This story really captures what it’s like to live in a small town: everyone knows everyone, but you can only trust a select few. Glass builds tension and fear on every page, propelling you through the story. Once you think you have figured something out, another clue is revealed to keep you guessing. Listening to this book was also incredibly enjoyable as Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard gave each POV a distinct voice and it was easy to tell who was narrating. This book is the perfect mix of mystery, suspense, heart, and humor in this small-town thriller.

Shelby Dawson still recovering from attack, ready to move on but someone isn’t ready to move on. I appreciated numerous aspects of this book, although certain parts left me perplexed, feeling as though I was missing crucial information. The narrative seemed disjointed, yet it effectively incorporated humor, evoking laughter at times.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me the audiobook🎧

* Buckle up, mystery lovers-this one's a wild ride! *

Seraphina Nova Glass delivers a cozy Minnesota-set whodunit that had me hooked from page one. Drama? Check. Tension? Absolutely. And a crew of feisty seniors who take justice (and the internet) by storm? ICONIC.

Just when I thought I had the villain pegged-BOOM-I was so wrong, and I loved every second of it. This was my first read by Seraphina, but after this delightfully twisty adventure, it definitely won't be my last. Bring on the next one!

This felt a little bit like a Nancy Drew x The Thursday Muder Club crossover. I did not guess the ending, and that always makes me like a mystery more! 🏆

*****EDITED AFTER LISTENING TO AUDIOBOOK*****
After listening to the audiobook, I now love this book so much more. The narrators gave so much personality and life to the characters. You felt the emotions. The loss, fear, anger, suspicion, and love between the found family. Even though I had already read the book, if felt brand new. So So Good!!!

In a quaint Northern Minnesota town, a series of unsettling events unfold. An attack on Shelby in Mackenzie’s coffee shop and then the mysterious disappearance of Mackenzie’s husband Leo. To unravel these mysteries, a group of concerned senior citizens begin a podcast (that goes viral). This book is told by multiple POVs that I actually enjoyed. The story was filled with all of the twists and turns I enjoy in thrillers, there was also warmth in the senior’s perspectives. The storyline was well constructed and addictive. I was entertained from beginning to end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Seraphina Nova Glass for sending me the ARC of this amazing book.

Thank you to Harlequin Audio for the alc, all opinions are my own.

This has a great hook at the beginning of the story, Sydney getting locked in the freezer at her friend’s restaurant. She catches some man rifling through paperwork and he tries to get rid of her. We’re dealing with the fallout of the cafe owner’s missing husband, injuries and trauma from the frostbite, and the group at the senior home trying to solve the mystery. The stalker’s motive was just so ridiculous, but I guess men.

I really enjoyed the characters and plot in this thriller. I loved how the residents at The Oleander were set in helping their friends.

NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE is a multi-perspective domestic thriller with a unique cast of characters, heightened tension, and fabulous twists. The author expertly weaves together the fear of the aftermath of a traumatic event and the emotions of dealing with a missing spouse, all while dealing with a group of elderly residents and their well-meaning antics.

What made this book so good was the way all three women’s stories were presented. Shelby, Mackenzie, and Florence each contributed something unique, facing their own challenges. However, when they overlapped in the timeline, this was where I was pulled in further. It is always more intriguing to me when one event is told from multiple perspectives, as it creates a richer, more complete picture.

I will tell you this. I have read a few books by the author, and none grabbed me as much as this one did. It had engaging characters that I instantly invested in, a compelling story, and a well-crafted build-up of suspense. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE delivered for this reader.

Audiobook Note: Having this book narrated by three women—Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard—allowed the listener to have a voice for the three points of view of this novel. The transition from character to character is seamless and pushes forward at a decent pace. If you are an audiobook listener and enjoy domestic thrillers, this is one to add to your to-read list.

This story started out good. The mystery thriller started with Mac whose husband disappeared on the same night as Shelby being held hostage at Mac's cafe. She was left in the restaurant's freezer for dead but luckily was rescued in time. A year later, the bad guy resurfaced again with a threatening note on Shelby's car windshield. Her husband prepared her with a gun in the house for self defense. Mac, on the other hand deals with her husband's disappearance and possibilities of her being the killer who killed off her husband.

Then there's Florence who wants to do podcast to solve the crime as a way to reduce her chances from having dementia.

I lose interest with Florence and the lack of police searching for the killer especially when Shelby got attacked again and again with no official protection.

Thank you HTPHive for the opportunity to listen and review.

⟢Thank you @htp_hive, @harlequin_audio, @graydonhousebooks & @netgalley for the ARC and ALC!

This book was a page turner! I had a great time with this one. It was fast paced with a plot that was neatly woven together, and I didn’t see the plot twist or that ending coming! And it was definitely a great ending!

The amateur sleuth senior citizens gave it a bit of a cozy feeling towards the middle of the book, which I wasn’t expecting. While it made me laugh at times, it also confused the mood for me a little bit. Overall this was a solid and quick whodunit mystery, great for the winter season!

🎧I did end up listening to some of this one, since I was having a hard time finding time to actually sit down and read (ugh, housework and jobs!😂), and the audio was great! Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski and Petrea Burchard did a great job portraying each of the characters and bringing out each of their personalities!

If the original Scooby gang lived in a retirement home and started a podcast together to solve a small town murder mystery. Outstanding. One of my top surprise books of the year. I loved every minute.
