Shelby Dawson survives a harrowing attack in her small Minnesota hometown, but still has PTSD 15 months later. Her best friend Mackenzie is struggling because her husband disappeared the same night of the attack. Were the events related? And why is Shelby now receiving threatening notes? This mystery was a fun ride, and I loved the senior citizen characters. But I think I wanted more character development from the two main characters. Otherwise I really enjoyed it and loved all the twists and turns. Thanks to Netgalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review: Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass
In the seemingly tranquil town of Sycamore, Minnesota, Shelby Dawson is still grappling with the trauma of a brutal attack that occurred fifteen months prior—a night that also saw the mysterious disappearance of her best friend Mackenzie's husband, Leo. Just as Shelby begins to reclaim a sense of normalcy, she discovers an ominous note on her windshield, echoing the threats of her past assailant. As unsettling incidents escalate, Shelby, with the support of Mackenzie and an endearing group of senior citizens from the local assisted living facility, delves into a web of secrets that suggest her nightmare is far from over.
Seraphina Nova Glass intertwines suspense with moments of levity, particularly through the charming antics of the elderly sleuths whose amateur podcasting efforts add a unique and heartwarming dimension to the narrative. The novel balances tension and humor, creating a compelling atmosphere that keeps readers engaged. The richly developed characters and the depiction of small-town dynamics evoke a range of emotions, from empathy and apprehension to amusement and hope. The book leaves readers reflecting on the resilience of community and the courage required to confront one's past.
This novel is recommended for fans of psychological thrillers who appreciate a blend of suspense and character-driven storytelling. Readers who enjoyed works like The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman will find Nothing Ever Happens Here to be an engaging and satisfying read.

I just love books with spunky elderly people. The characters were all delightful, the setting had me feeling frigid, and the twists just kept coming. Never saw the killer coming!
Narrators Brittany Pressley (a fave!) Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard really embodied the characters. When I started out I flip flopped between the audio and print but with so many characters I ended up reading it immersively. If you have trouble with lots of characters this would probably be your go to.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is a popcorn thriller with cozy mystery vibes, a winter setting and the best elderly side character sleuths. This story is multigenerational, told through multiple POVs, had a good twist, and even better side characters.
I love good side characters and this book has some funny, eccentric, lovable seniors who really helped drive the story. I laughed multiple times at these “silly antiques sitting around” as they navigated their way through learning about the world of podcasts and social media. Don’t get me wrong, there was a good blend of thriller, murder mystery, sarcasm, and humor. The plot was interesting, it caught and kept my attention from the first chapter, and had a twist I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed hearing the POV of the three strong, well developed FMCs, but those silly seniors made the story for me.
This was my first book by this author but won’t be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style. I have On a Quiet Street on my backlist TBR, and hope to read it this month.
The audiobook made for a pleasant read/listen, and it wasn’t hard to follow along. The story is told from three women’s POVs and the audiobook gives all three their own narrator making it easy to distinguish between characters. I’m a big fan of Brittany Presley’s work so I was excited to see that she was one of the narrators. All the narrators had great pacing, dialect, and inflection, doing a fantastic job creating suspense but also making the sarcasm and humor really pop. Overall, the narrators created a great listening experience and delivered a flawless performance from start to finish.

This started strong with huge plot points right off the bat which really hooked me. The small town setting worked well with the cast of characters. I did not figure out who the culprit was (in fact I had no clue!) which made for a suspenseful novel. I went between reading and listening and I preferred reading but that isn’t to say the narration was bad.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of both the print and audio of this title. I love listening and reading as it helps me get through a book much faster. The narrators did an excellent job with this one. Though parts of this novel reminded me of a cozy mystery, I enjoyed the quirky characters, especially those at the assisted living center who created the podcast and got involved. Had it not been for their intrusion, the story would have ended a lot differently. I also had the husband pegged for all of it (it's always the husband, right?) I guess you'll just have to read it to find out! Overall, I really enjoyed it. Part mystery, part cozy and very entertaining.

Hooked from the very first page!
A quaint Northern Minnesota town is rocked by mystery when Shelby is attacked and left for dead in Mackenzie's coffee house and Mackenzie's husband, Leo, vanishes. A group of seniors start a viral podcast to investigate the strange happenings. This cozy thriller from SNG features a group of senior podcasters who lighten up the suspense.
I cant wait to read more by this author!!

It’s been too long since I’ve been sucked into a good thriller, but I can always count on Seraphina to do the job. She is one of my favorites, and I loved her newest release! Her writing is always so entertaining. From the humorous meddling senior citizens of small town Rivers Crossing, to the clueless police department, the possible serial killer wreaking havoc, the captivating multiple point of views, the pacing, and plot twists, I was fully invested from page one. I became connected to the characters and felt for them throughout.
I couldn’t wait to get to the end and find out if my guess on who was causing all the craziness was right (it wasn’t)!
🎧The audiobook is narrated by Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard, and it was perfection! These women delivered top notch performances, and really made a fantastic story even better.
Thank you HTP Hive, HTP Books, Graydon House Books, Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for the ARC/ALC!

I was sucked in from the very beginning and while I think the first bit of the book was the strongest part, I enjoyed the thoughtful character development throughout the entire story. Trying to figure out the relationship between two incidents that happen on the same night was a journey that kept me invested and looking forward to each opportunity I was able to resume listening. I’ve read one other book by Seraphina Nova Glass and actually preferred this thriller to my former read. This was a really strong audio performance also, and while there’s a full cast of characters, I loved the listening format. Brittany Pressley is one of the narrators, who is always a fave of mine!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to review this ARC!

This is my first book by Seraphina Nova Glass and I really enjoyed it. My favorites characters where the senior citizens turned describes and podcasters. The setting is perfect for this time of year - winter in rural Minnesota. The story kept me guessing with the twists and turns and a satisfying ending.
Brittany Pressley is one of my favorite narrators so I was thrilled to hear her voice. Stacey Glemboski and Petrea Burchard were also excellent narrators.
Thank you to NetGalley & Harlequin Audio for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was my second suspense from Glass, and I am thinking I am getting the style. There is a combo of suspense/thriller with a few characters who make you smile and maybe chuckle a bit. This one almost veered into "cozy" but the plot was a bit too dark for the "cute" characters to carry the cozy feel.
Shelby survives a crazy attack that leaves her shaken. Her friend Mackenzie helps her recover in the small Minnesota town where her husband also went missing that same night. When a note appears on Shelby's car over a year later, a group of fearless Seniors led by the indomitable Florence, band together to help find answers.
This dark, cold setting is a perfect backdrop for this tense and twisty suspense. I had no idea who to trust, what to look for, and certainly not whodunit! The actions toward Shelby and what Mackenzie discovered with her husband were darker aspects, but that was offset by Florence and her crew who kinda stole the show. They made me break out in a chuckle several times!
I would definitely recommend this audio which had 3 different narrators for each of the 3 women's perspectives. Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, & Petrea Burchard all did a great job making this a fun listen. A solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

This is one of those books that I can't quite decide how I feel about it. It starts fast, gets a little slow, then really picks up! But also got dare I say too over the top? And it's very unbelievable but aren't most thrillers?
I feel like some of the plot was interesting and kept me guessing but some of it felt a little slow. I liked the wide cast of characters we had and I will say this was entertaining. I feel like the end has me not sure how I feel. It felt a little too anticlimactic and perfect? But overall, this was an entertaining thriller that kept me guessing. The audio is great!

Thank you NetGalley and the hive for allowing me to listen to this book before release! This was my first read by seraphina nova glass and it certainly will not be my last! I enjoyed the twists and turns in this story and although there were alot of characters mentioned I think it was to keep us confused until the end!!

I feel like Glass often writes about scorned husbands; those who have lied or were otherwise unfaithful or withdrew integrity. What did Leo do? Is he to blame now? Who attacked Shelby that night?
As more unfolds, it becomes clear that Shelby is being targeted, but WHY? Everyone bands together to figure out just that. I loved the tight-knit community vibes.
There were a ton of characters, but the community of senior citizens were the best. Florence and all her companions brought light and humor to this otherwise dark content. Their presence made it feel more cozy mystery than thriller, but you still feel compelled to learn the truths of the many mysteries.

Nothing Ever Happens Here, by Seraphina Nova Glass, is an audiobook I absolutely loved. Shelby, Mac, & Florence are such great characters, voiced by 3 incredible narrators who completely bring them to life. I loved the fun group from from the senior care home, and the mystery surrounding Leo's disappearance. There was nothing cliche about this book, no beaten-to-death tropes. It felt like a breath of fresh air (to use a cliche for explanation, lol). I enjoyed it so much that I immediately downloaded the audiobook of Glass's debut, On a Quiet Street- which is just as fantastic!!! Very excited to discover a new favorite author!! Highly recommend!!!!!

What a thrilling ride. The setup is a little slow as the mystery builds, but I was on the edge of my seat as we approached the end and discovered whodunit.
I felt like there was a couple loose ends that never got tied up or revealed, but overall I really enjoyed this story. My jaw was on the floor as it all came to light, especially with some of the earlier reveals.
I really enjoyed the audio! Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski and Petrea Burchard all did such an amazing job bringing these characters to life. And the production was fantastic as well.
I love quick mystery suspense and I can't wait for more from Seraphina.

A small town thriller meets podcast detectives in Seraphina Nova Glass' latest novel "Nothing Ever Happens Here".
Shelby and Mackenzie have been best friends since they were young, now raising families having never leaving their small Minnesota town. After Shelby is ruthlessly attacked following a cafe robbery, she thinks she is putting her life back together...until a mysterious note appears just over a year later, making Shelby realize that her attacker may not be done with her yet. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is mourning the husband that abandoned her on that same night, his body never recovered, his whereabouts never discovered. Shelby and Mackenzie need answers - it's life or death - and with the help of a senior residence detective club, they're not giving up until they do.
I really enjoyed the narrators on this book - having multiple narrators with so many characters in an audiobook always makes it easier for me to follow along. I tend to hesitate to listen to multiple perspective books on audio because of this, but I was able to keep up.
The storyline was good, it had a bit of "Thursday Murder Club" vibes that offered a bit of humor to the dark storyline. There were plenty of twists and clues dropped through the story, and I enjoyed the way it was done. Read this one if you've enjoyed Glass' previous novels, or are looking for a twisty suspense novel. Bonus for the wintry setting!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advanced copy of this audiobook!

"Nothing Ever Happens Here" was a captivating, bingeworthy thriller that I could not put down. I absolutely devoured this book! The story is told from the POVs of Shelby, the victim of a violent attack, her best friend Mackenzie, whose husband is missing, and Florence, a senior citizen at the assisted living facility where Shelby works. The seniors at the assisted living facility stole the show and were my favorite characters. They set this book apart from other thrillers and were the perfect comic relief. This book was like "The Thursday Murder Club" meets "Only Murders in the Building," but darker and more suspenseful. The first 75% of this book was amazing and had me on the edge of my seat. The ending was just too over-the-top for me. Overall, though, I highly recommend!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Brittany Pressley, Stacey Glemboski, and Petrea Burchard. With three female main characters, I was grateful to have three distinct voices narrating the story. They all did a great job and made it easy to distinguish between the women. Definitely an unputdownable audiobook.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a solid small town mystery, where everyone’s in each other’s business, and the older folks are running a muck. What’s not to like?! The story kept me engaged, and I definitely didn’t see that ending coming. I had my suspicions about one character, but the reveal took me by surprise in the best way, not a cheap bait-and-switch, just really well done.
There are quite a few characters to keep track of, but after a while, it became easy to remember who was who. I listened to the audiobook, and while the story itself was great, I wasn’t too thrilled with the narration. Shelby’s voice, in particular, didn’t quite work for me, and I think I would have enjoyed reading this one more than listening to it.
Overall, a solid 3-star read! Big thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ARC.

After reading and absolutely loving Vacancy in Room 10 last year I was so excited to get my hands on this book! It did not disappoint. The opening couple chapters grabbed all my attention making me unable to put it down.
This twisty thriller has the perfect winter setting. It’s filled with well rounded characters. My favorites being at the Oleander, their fun quirky conversations were the perfect bits of comedic relief. This book will keep you guessing until the very end. It did for me at least!
There were a few narrators performing this audiobook who helped to craft each characters voice in a unique way. Since there were quite a few POVs that helped greatly while listening to the audiobook.
