This book had so so so much potential but went downhill quickly, and I ended up dnf-ing around 54%. I really liked the premise and it started out with a sweet meet-cute, but no amount of sweet romance can distract from the clunky, sometimes juvenile writing. The main character's role as a nanny took away from the rest of the plot until it felt like 90% of this book was just prose about gentle parenting. There was more focus on her relationship with this child she is responsible for than there was on the romance in this romance novel. I don't know, maybe I'm just not the target audience. Either way, this one wasn't for me.

I loved seeing the main character, Jessie, come into her confidence and how far she's come from her previous experiences. She really stands up for herself and I loved seeing that. I was really taken along with the drama and her interactions with everyone in the story and how we see a little bit of each characters life. I liked how the story ended where Jessie has found professional and personal harmony and joy. Overall, this was a wonderful story to read and leave a review for!

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Group Putnam, and the author for this ARC.

"What people forget when they're coupled up is how hard it is to keep your courage in the land of dating. And you do it—you keep putting yourself out there and figuring out what you want, even if it batters you a bit, leaves you bruised. Finding love is brave. Seeking it out, even more so."

This was a cute love story with a twist!

Jessie is not a big believer in love, especially love at first sight. However then, she has a magical day into night with a handsome stranger, Cal. So maybe there is something to it?

But then she has no way to reach Cal and she's worried she missed her shot at true love, until he appears at the door to her job as a nanny. Only problem? He's not there to see her...

What ensues after this is at times a comedy, sometimes a tragedy, but in the end the drama of it all clears. A twist I didn't see coming but came around to by the end, gave this sweet story it's happy ending.

This was a lovely, quick read. If you're a fan of rom coms that of course end in a HEA this book is for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam Books for this eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed Love at First Sight! The meet-cute at the grocery store is fun and while the insta-love concept may be hard to believe, I thought it worked because of the way the FMC kept questioning it and debating within herself whether the feelings could be real. Her awareness that love at first sight was improbable helped it work.

I thought the conflicts of this book worked and they made me want to keep turning pages. Jessie is a nanny who loves her job and has a genuine connection to her current charge, Henry. The fact that she has no relationship with her mom and that her dad is planning to marry someone half his age makes her feel like she has no family, so Henry and his mom sort of fill in the roles of family for her. I love that Jessie has this long-held dream of opening a program where kids can just be kids and explore and get messy and have fun, and that Cal, her “insta-love” man, encourages her in that dream.

I will say that I honestly wasn’t sure what to think of Cal, who shows up in her life again after she forgets to get his phone number during the magical day of their first meeting. There’s another guy, Leo, who shows interest in her as well, and plenty of complications ensue. I wasn’t sure who to root for as the love interest, which I kind of find refreshing, as it felt not entirely obvious to me where things were going. Some readers might find Jessie wishy-washy because of it; I find that she’s relatable and doesn’t always quite know what she wants.

Overall, it’s a fun romance with a great meet-cute and I enjoyed the journey to the HEA! Thanks to NetGalley and Putnam for the ARC of the book.

Thank you to Putnam Books for the ARC! This one started out really strong for me and the meet cute and "love at first sight" storyline were so so cute! That being said, after the first few chapters I just felt bored. I pushed through to about 60 percent and decided not to finish. Unfortunately, it was not for me. Thanks for the opportunity to read it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.

Jessie has a meet cute with Cal when she is thrown into his arms during a fire alarm. They don’t exchange contact and Jessie is devastated to loose touch, until.. Cal shows up at her nannying job with roses meant for somebody else.

The story is cute. It’s fast paced. The plot is not the problem.. for me it is the writing. The style and ‘voice’ just fell flat for me.

While this was a fast paced and somewhat cute read, the whole thing fell flat for me. I didn't care for the writing style and most definitely could not connect with any of the characters.

Professional Nanny Jessie loves her job taking care of Henry, the child of an actress. One day she is in Whole Foods when a fire alarm goes off and she meets Cal - the two hit it off instantly - and spends all day together, only for it to end on a dramatic note where he has to leave suddenly without the couple ever exchanging information. She is left wondering how to contact him when he inadvertently shows back up in her life, but not how she expected. A love triangle ensues.

Well, I liked this book, but it needs tightening up. The main character is quite messy - she doesn't know how to stand up for herself - and the way she acts in a lot of situations doesn't necessarily encourage you to pull for her. I think the book starts off well, and becomes compelling when you find out who Cal is linked to, and you want to figure out how they're going to work it out. EXCEPT for the fact that the whole thing is just messy, messy, messy. At first, I thought it was messy in a way that real life is, and in a way it is, but none of the characters are likable enough to get away with any of the situations they find themselves in. I finished it, I liked parts, but other sections of the plot just didn't make sense or were sloppily written. There is a moment about 3/4th of the way through where Jessie starts talking to herself in all caps about her feelings and it just seems weird and out of sync with the rest of the tone of the novel. All in all, a decent premise with a convoluted delivery.

This was a really cute and fast read that’s perfect the summer. The characters felt real and I could easily relate to their mutual heartbreak.

Love at First Sight by Laura Jane Williams is a charming and heartwarming contemporary romance that captures the magic of unexpected connections. The story follows Nadia, a woman recovering from a broken engagement, and Daniel, a man grappling with his own past. When they meet by chance at an airport, their lives take a surprising turn. Williams's writing is engaging and filled with witty dialogue, making the characters' chemistry feel authentic and compelling. The novel beautifully explores themes of love, healing, and the importance of seizing life's opportunities. It's a delightful read that will leave you with a smile.

Very fun! I love the character development and growth. As well as the unexpected moments. Really was proud of everyone in the book and Greg to love them.

This book was cute, but I just think the characters fell flat for me which evidently took me out of the story. This was a quick read and I loved the setting of it but I just didn't feel as if the characters were very well developed. I think the plot had potential, it just didn't meet my expectations. It was a fast paced easy read though and I think a lot of people will enjoy it!

Not going to lie this one started out cute. With an adorable meet cute but when it turns out the men of her dreams who she literally met once is dating her boss that quickly turned into a no for me. Not a fan of fan of possible love triangles especially when it edges on cheating. Cause I'm sorry once she realized he was with someone else her boss especially she should have just cut her loses.

I am thrilled to share my thoughts on Love at First Sight by Laura Jane Williams. This was my first read from her, and I absolutely adored this charming meet-cute and the delightful story that follows. Set against the vibrant backdrop of London, Jessie meets Cal during a dramatic Whole Foods fire, leading to an unforgettable night on the town. But is it truly love at first sight? Their magical evening ends abruptly without exchanging contact information, leaving us wondering if fate will bring them together again.

This book is an absolute joy, perfectly balancing the right amount of angst with fun, well-developed supporting characters. It also features all the beloved romance tropes we crave, including a controlling boss and tantalizing love triangles. Love at First Sight is a must-add to your TBR list. While it’s a closed-door romance with no explicit scenes, the sexy banter and implied intimacy are more than satisfying!

I believe another review was accurate when describing this book at its heart was more general fiction than romance. While I appreciate the fast pace of the book, that's where the majority of my positive feelings stop. I would say besides characters India and Leo, most of the characters in this book are incredibly toxic and I did not connect with it. The story seems determined to surprise you to a point where it loses its way.

Read this one in less than a day! It has been so long since I've read something with a new plot. It was a refreshing read with great character development. It's safe to say that Williams had me hooked from the very beginning.

In an adorable setting in London, the fmc is a full-time nanny with aspirations of owning her own business. She has a day full of fun with every girl's dream man, but never gets his information. The story follows Jessie's journey of finding him again and following her dream.

Because of the amazing character growth, I felt a little frustrated at the end of the book when there were so few conclusions for so many of them. It was like I got strung on but never found out the motive and ending for these people! Besides that, I really really enjoyed reading this!!

I really liked the description of this book and thought it would be a cute rom com but I just didn’t enjoy it. The story felt all over the place and was trying to do too many things at once and the twist with just didn’t do it for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC

I had a hard time getting through this one. It was cheesy but also cute in some places. I just couldn’t relate to Jessie and there was no chemistry between her and the MMC.

All in all it was cute but not my favorite

From the beginning, this was so ridiculously cheesy and improbable, but the writing is witty so I enjoyed it…or, I did until miscommunication entered every relationship in the storyline. Disaster ensues.

There’s a lot of pontificating about good ideas and boundaries and such between characters, but very little of the advice is taken practically. I couldn’t cheer for a single character in this story (besides maybe the pizza shop owners?).

I’m so annoyed that the main character is so incredibly dumb. The FMC has the emotional maturity of a 17-year old, and the whole book hinges on her ability (or inability) to make wise decisions.

I think the wishy-washy perspective of the FMC made for a difficult narrative to write; it’s hard to keep each character’s intentions clear when the main character can’t sort out her emotions. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help the reader understand anyone better, and it’s simply confusing. Cute cover, but I’m disappointed.

Thank you to G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the eARC.
