"Seven deadly sins have been unleashed, and the only one who can defeat them is the boy who set them free"

Nicholas Blackwell was orphaned at the tender age of 7 when his parents were shot and killed in their home on Christmas Eve. Nicholas was picked up by a mysterious priest and taken to a private Catholic school in England, where he was raised by the priests and nuns. When Nicholas is 16 his life completely changes when he learns that demons are real, and they are after him because they want to free the 7 Guardians of Sin, each of whom embodies one of the seven deadly sins, who basically reside within him. Nicholas has to follow in his family's footsteps and fight and contain all 7 Guardians before hell is unleashed on earth.

I really enjoyed this story. Nicholas was a bit of a pain when he jumped from 7 to 16 years of age, but he had lived for so long at the school, all alone, that you could forgive him for some of his orneriness. When he met Amy, the new girl at school, he fell hard, and luckily she was by his side during his time in demonio fighting Guardians. The descriptions of demonio were very well written and the demons they came up against were unique. I wish the battles themselves could have been more drawn out a bit more, but given that this was a relatively short book with a lot of action, that wasn't too much of a problem.

All in all, I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to continuing with the series.

4/5 stars.

Uh, not for me. While the set up was great and the plot had some unique aspects I literally couldn't stand Nicholas and didn't care if he lived or died. This made the plot drag and I stopped reading quite early on. Sorry.
