Thank you to Net Galley for the e-ARC.
This was a cute, quick read. It's about Julian and Grace, who are 2 of the 5 medical residents in the book and how they handle the first 2 years. Diedre Duncan, the author, made it so easy to relate to the characters and become invested in their story. This book will make you go through all the emotions. I read it in a little over 24 hours, and it didn't disappoint.

The reality of health care workers, the stressors of losing a patient, the amount of power a physician holds while caring for a patient. Sometimes literally changing the course of lives in seconds. It’s arduous, takes a mental health toll, and has its own internal community issues. Love Sick, piqued my mind and made me appreciate Grace and Julian as individuals they were given significant time separately and slowly merged together. This is your classic enemies to lovers but it’s also a slow burn.
I’ve always wondered if Grey’s Anatomy has had an effect on women in the medical field. But oh boy, the commentary on sexual harassment and unfair work practices in this book? 10/10 and it blew me away with how raw Deidra Duncan went. We say a lot about women supporting women, but the plot twist in this book. Vicious, it’s so diabolical that my jaw dropped. Duncan taps into something that so many women silently experience and systems are slowly catching up.
I’m going to say this full stop: women can absolutely be brutal to one another and there are instances where women can be willing participants that actively facilitate and participate in a toxic work environment. Many often stay silent instead of speaking up to right wrongs. It festers and enables the ‘good ol’ boys club’. Full disclosure, the specific character that does such harm in this book is not redeemable, at all. The fact that it went on for 2 YEARS? The mind games, side stepping, the manipulation for THAT LONG? Child, it’s been a while since a book had me so shook that I had to put my Kindle down for half an hour.
Anyways back to Grace and Julian five stars all around enemies to lovers is alive and well but this book makes me appreciate all in health care. I also learned new medical terminology and practices (love that). One final thing, give my boy Asher a BOOK!
I was initially declined an ARC by the publisher but Deidra Duncan was absolutely amazing and provided an ARC right away. Truly, you don’t want to miss this book and Deidra is an author you need to keep an eye on.

Thank you to Harlequin & NetGalley for this e-ARC.
This was such a great debut novel from a practicing physician! Taking place over the course of the first two years in a residency program for OB-GYN’s, it follows Grace and Julian, two out of the five interns. I would say the Grey’s Anatomy meets The Hating Game is a decent description - but I wouldn’t call it enemies to lovers exactly. More like bad-first-impression-to-reluctant-friends-to-lovers. I swooned, I giggled, I got a little sad. The writing had a lot of personality, I felt instantly connected with the characters. I felt like the pace went good, although I would have loved more of the medical side of things - not just the behind the scenes, but actually scenes with patients.
Overall, a really fun debut. I’d loved to see more from this author!

Really cute! It gave off early Greys vibes. I enjoyed the setting of Labor and Delivery. It was different and gave an interesting place for the usual tropes, a fun read all around.

I just finished a cute romcom. Love Sick by Deidra Duncan was an enjoyable read that I definitely recommend.

LOVED every minute of this and could not put it down! 🥰 The prose was approachable and engaging and the pace was even and well done. Between Grace’s bitting wit, Julian’s bleeding heart, Maxwell’s friendship, Asher’s surprising depth,… this ensemble of characters was wonderful and dynamic.
Grace is a beautifully developed character. A gorgeous woman with severe social anxiety, a romantic history that broke her ability to trust her own instincts, a quick wit and a sassy attitude to mask the hurt that rumors inflict on her, and a nerdy excitement of flash cards. The layers to her character make her easily relatable on one level or another to a wide audience. She is a protagonist you want to see through to the end of the story to make sure she gets the happy ending she deserves.
Julian is the most delicious cinnamon roll! ❤️ He is a compelling character who embodies actions over words, is kind and empathetic, with a strong moral compass, and bleeding heart. I loved everything about him! His relationship with Grace is a wonderful slow-burn with lots of tension and witty banter.
The third act breakup 🙄 I really hate this trope. While I would have LOVED to avoid it, I will say that unlike some stories where the author uses the third act breakup arbitrarily to create drama to fill pages, the third act breakup for these two DOES feel like it is true to the character and where they are at. Not all healing and acceptance is linear, and I think the third act breakup reflects that well - could it have been avoided, yes, but so could a lot of relationship issues in the real world as well…
Let not forget this book come with a glossary of terms, which you know I love, for anyone who isn’t familiar with hospital residencies.

Love Sick by Diedra Duncan is absolutely witty and sweet medical romance!
If you're a fan of medical tv shows and wonder if they fall in love within their field, this book is right up your alley. I loved that the book had a lot of medical terms and it was very technical and detailed but in a way that anyone can understand and we got little bits of what it's like to be an OBGYN. Grace and Julian navigate the woes of being residents but as their residency goes, they become closer, they study together, feed off each other with advice and help one another and their animosity turns into a friend and then into falling in love. I loved Grace. Her character emulates what it's like to be a woman in the stem field and having to be stronger, better, and have your guard up and be an absolute badass. Julian and grace had an undeniable chemistry and seeing them fall in love was inevitable and they absolutely matched and balanced each other. The book is witty, fun, full of banter and lots of chemistry between them. A must read for my medical romance lovers!

I adore hospital romances and I went into it with high hopes. The glossary at the beginning was a little intimidating although I knew a lot of it already. Once I got into the story I realized it was silly to worry about.
The story was okay and I might have overhyped the story in my mind but found some parts of it falling short. I think the target audience is a younger crowd than me.
The main characters sounded a little immature for my style with low emotional intelligence and their back and forth came off as childish. The pacing, whether from the ARC formatting issues or the style of writing felt a little quick and hard to get into. I'll blame the formatting. But once you're into the story it sounds much more natural and the pacing works fine for the story.
I loved their inner dialogs, especially Julian's. It feels very real and raw and the silly moments were hilarious. There was a lot to like about the book. For the right audience I think it will be a well received story. It just wasn't landing for me.

I was looking for a good doctor romance! The blurb by Julie Soto sold me! Heartfelt but fun. I will be buying for my medical student / residency / doctor friends! The main character is obviously smart but the social anxiety aspect is very relatable. The spice element isn't super intense which I appreciate. I don't like when it's over the top. Cute cover and font style as well!

Grey’s Anatomy meets The Hating Game?! Couldn’t wait to read this debut novel as soon as I saw what was in store!
Read if you enjoy:
*** Enemies to lovers trope
*** Slow burn romance
*** Medical field drama
*** Light on the spice
This was a great debut novel by Deidra Duncan. I always love a enemies to lovers trope with a great buildup. The novel follows Grace and Julian through their OBGYN residency. Though Julian was super frustrating at times in the start of the novel, he definitely redeemed himself midway through.
Definitely looking forward to more from this author in the future!
Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to Harlequin Trade Publishing for providing me with the ARC of this book.
I loved this book it read like Grey’s Anatomy if it were a rom-com movie that focused on Alex and Izzy instead of Meredith. The characters has so much dept to them and made them very interesting to read about. I personally love the anxiety representation in this book as a person with severe anxiety Deidra Duncan’s writing is so easy to read and just reads as if you’re watching a rom-com movie staring Jennifer Aniston. The pacing of this book was amazing as well. The relationship between the characters doesn’t feel rushed and instead feels real and raw. The spice in this book is also VERY tolerable, I am someone who doesn’t enjoy a lot of spice scenes in my books but this book handles them so well and in a tasteful manner.
I really hope to read more from Deidra Duncan as this book has easily placed her on my auto-buy author’s list. She can only go up from here and I am excited to see what she writes next.

Ugh, this book… it was so good and such a vibe. I’m such a sucker for a doctor romance, and this one was perfection. I binged it in two days while feeling under the weather.
The banter in this book was top-tier. Even when both characters “hated” each other, I was still cackling and kicking my feet at their commentary. I also loved the timeline aspect of this story. It starts during their first month as interns in an OB-GYN residency and progresses through the entire four-year program. This made the development of the main characters’ relationship such a deliciously perfect slow burn.
I will always hype up any book with excellent mental health representation, and this one really shines in that area. I also loved that the author included so many elements of hospital politics and gossip in the storyline. My heart ached for what Grace went through and the double standards women face in any work environment.
This book had so much heart. All the stars. I now also feel like I need to rewatch all 19 seasons of a very popular tv show.
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3 ⭐️s. A cute romance with major Grey’s Anatomy vibes. For this being about adult doctors, it felt a little juvenile. I love the enemies to lovers trope when it’s done correctly, but they “enemied” a little too hard and it just made Julian seem like a dick and it’s hard to root for him after that. I will say around the 40% mark the characters became a little more likable, but I could have lived without the third act breakup.

LOVE SICK is a sweet romance of two doctors who not only help heal their patients but in each other. Despite starting off on the wrong foot, Julian and Grace slowly get to know each other over their residencies. Agreeing to help each other study, Grace and Julian become even closer, until it's undeniable that there's something between them. But due to Grace's past and rumors, Grace does something for the sole purpose of protecting Julian, but only ends up hurting him and pushing him away. What will it take for them to work through it and end up back together? A cute and sexy debut perfect for Grey's Anatomy fans!
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Love Sick by Deidra Duncan is a lovely debut novel featuring a medical romance with an enemies to lovers trope. The main characters are trying to navigate surviving the first few years of being OB-GYN residents. Grace Rose, the FMC, is smart, driven, and also has to deal with rumors in the workplace. Our MMC, Julian Santini, is handsome and blunt, and butts heads with Grace from the very beginning. Julian and Grace are often drawn to one another and can’t help bickering and bantering with one another. To everyone else, it’s obvious, these two have a connection. There is a thin line between love and hate, and this romance embodies it.
As their residency continues, Julian and Grace learn to work together by offering to tutoring each other. He shows her surgery techniques while she helps him with study skills. From enemies to friends to something more.
Even though these two have an undeniable connection, and eventually succumb to their feeling and start seeing each other, Grace struggles with letting Julian in due to a bad past relationship. I liked how the author incorporated Grace’s personal growth journey to learn to trust in her love and relationship with Julian.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and loved following Julian and Grace’s journey and relationship.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this debut book and devoured it in a day, but it was not without a few flaws.
The MMC wasn't my favorite in the beginning, but he definitely redeemed himself as the book went on. I felt like he didn't handle their first conflict well and the way he reacted seemed out of character.
I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers dynamic and banter between the main characters that slowly morphed into a tender love story.
I will be on the lookout for more books from this author in the future.

I found this book to be an interesting read. I really liked the banter and the dynamic between Grace and Julian. It was refreshing to read a male main character who was (for the most part) emotionally honest and straightforward. There were some things near the end that felt out of character or misaligned with his characterization that had been established throughout the book to increase the angst level, but I didn’t feel it was necessary at that point because the angst was already high. I also had mixed feelings on the central conflict of the book and the way it was resolved. Overall, I enjoyed following Grace and Julian’s journey as well as learning more about the inner workings of residency and medical placements.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of the story for an honest review!
I enjoyed the book, and you maybe be thinking why give it a 3 stars?
As stories go, I struggled with the first pages and the conflict. ML was portrayed as this nice guy that loves woman but his inner thoughts initially threw me off. I thought the first conflict between them to was not done well. But as I forced my self to continue as the writing was good and I had faith, it got better.
FL also had her flaws and I didn’t enjoyed the *SPOILER* third act break! Shocker I know!!
I believe this is the author first book and I did enjoy this book, I am excited to see how she continues to grow her craft and the other books she writes!
