4.75 ⭐️ If this book had a soundtrack, "What is this Feeling" from Wicked would be Track 1. It had all the great aspects of a slow burn “enemies” to lovers but with the added benefit of a hospital setting. It had me grinning and kicking my feet the whole way through.

I loved how medically accurate and detailed this was, which is different from other hospital romances I’ve read. It didn’t shy away from references that mainly only people in medicine will understand (ACOG practice bulletins, dot phrases, etc.) and made the characters and conversations overall feel more realistic. Also, as an upcoming intern, reading this made me excited for the future friendships with my co-residents.

My one complaint was that nearly every character, even minor ones in one or two scenes, had full first and last names, which made it feel pretty clunky at times. Some scene transitions were also confusing, but this is most likely due to the ARC epub formatting and I hope it will be clearer in the published version.

I'm excited to read more books by Deidra Duncan! Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Love Sick was adorable. I could not put this book down! I loved the back and forth between Grace and Julian and the growth in their relationship. I don't usually love a third act breakup, but it worked so well in this book and seemed realistic with what the characters were going through. The ending wraps everything up nicely.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute & quick read!

If you love medical drama shows then you will love this book! You get an enemies to friends to lovers vibe with lots of tension and minimal spice. You get the ins and outs of residency with some fun side characters & found family vibes. Julian and Grace are so sweet once they figure themselves out!
I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Thank you for the ARC copy.

This book gave me Grays Anatomy vibes. I liked the friendships and the medical information. The characters were likable and had depth to them. It was a little slow at times, but overall a good read. Liked the spicy too.

There was just something about this book that I couldn't put it down. There was just enough medical terminology that made it authentic. The lives and circumstances of the characters were very real. I loved the way that the themes rolled out, I loved the way the characters evolved. This was a really great book. I didn't find it overly difficult to read. The premise of the book was fun. It has that air of "grey's anatomy" without being copy cat. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to read this and have already alerted my audience that they need to be on the lookout for it.

Grace and Julian are first-year residents. While Grace is plagued by rumors that affect her professional standing and personal life, Julian struggles with feeling good enough. They get off on the wrong foot but as two of only five residents in their year, Grace and Julian keep bunking into one another. Can their anti meet cute turn into something special?

I loved learning more about the life of a resident (brutal!) and was intrigued by the rumors plot and how unfair and misogynistic it was - who will stand against it and who perpetuates? I thought Grace and Julian had chemistry, and make a good couple. It was fun to watch them quarrel during their “enemies” phase. Some of the pacing felt off (sometimes too rushed) and it was frustrating when Grace and Julian didn’t communicate properly; I didn’t always feel like they were consistent in their behaviors/characterization.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

I am a sucker for any kind of medical drama. Maybe it's being raised on mash and trapper. John MD all the way to Grey's Anatomy, but I love a good medical drama. This was my first rum set in a medical setting, and it was very good. It was told in a dual point of view between our 2 main characters, sapphire and Julian. During there, intern and residency, there's an instant spark connection between the 2. Let's see sapphire. Who prefers to go by grace? Has a lot of trust issues and intimacy issues?Due to a previous relationship.- throw in the issue that she's the subject of a lot of rumors about how she got her spot in the hospital, Grace has alot on her plate and Julian is up for the task of being there for her, but can she let go of the past- and trust in love? I enjoyed the book a lot. If you enjoy medical tidbits it's a fun quick read, i read it in one evening. The secondary cast of characters Kai. Raven and Alesha were also super entertaining I can only imagine what that kind of closeness during and internship, a residency is like- the only downfall to me was the ending. I felt like an epilog would have been nice. I didn't like the unanswered question that once you read it you'll know what i'm talking about what definitely recommend

Thank you, net galley for the arc.In exchange for an honest review

This book is an easy 5 stars!! It is an enemies to lovers romance between doctors with the absolute best banter. By 5% in, I was already invested in the characters & knew that I was going to love it.

Grace comes into the OB-GYN program after surviving rumors in medical school only to have similar rumors start anew when everyone is led to believe that she has gained her spot into the program in unethical ways. Julian, in the same program, but coming in as a DO rather than MD is battling insecurities about not deserving to be there. He is guilty of believing these unfounded rumors about Grace before meeting her, starting them off on the wrong foot.

They form a nemesis type relationship which consists of constant bickering, but there is always that slow burn between them and behind the scenes they are always helping one another out.

This story made me swoon & had me smiling to myself the whole way through. If you read this book, prepare to fall in love with these characters and cheer them on through all of their individual growth & growth together :)

Thank you so much Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC early & im so excited to hear about people falling in love with it when It releases this May!!

Wow what a wonderful surprise of a book! I literally could not put it down. Grey's Anatomy vibes- except a more accurate depiction. This story is about two OBGYN interns who initially start out on the wrong foot, but grow closer throughout their residency. Grace is an intern who has a history of an abusive relationship and starts her residency with a terrible rumor about her personal conduct. The rumors continue throughout her residency despite her good behavior and with her past do damage to her self confidence. Julian is a DO and looked down on in the residency for not being an MD. He initially misjudged Grace, but throughout their rotations gets to know her and protects her and attempts to protect her image. They grow together throughout residency, but Grace has to learn to trust herself so that they can be together.

Grace's struggle was so relatable with her history and Julian's constant love and support for her was so sweet. I did not know what to expect from this book, but I know I will be jumping at the chance to read another Deidre Duncan book. She highlighted so many important issues while also writing an emotional uplifting romance. Not easy to do!

Only issue with this book is that I wish it had one nice nurse in it! I understand nursing can be cruel to residents/new physicians, but would like to have seen one kind nurse!

This was a cute, quick read. It's about Julian and Grace, who are 2 of the 5 medical residents in the book and how they handle the first 2 years. Diedre Duncan, the author, made it so easy to relate to the characters and become invested in their story. This book will make you go through all the emotions. I read it in a little over 24 hours, and it didn't disappoint.

The reality of health care workers, the stressors of losing a patient, the amount of power a physician holds while caring for a patient. Sometimes literally changing the course of lives in seconds. It’s arduous, takes a mental health toll, and has its own internal community issues. Love Sick, piqued my mind and made me appreciate Grace and Julian as individuals they were given significant time separately and slowly merged together. This is your classic enemies to lovers but it’s also a slow burn.

I’ve always wondered if Grey’s Anatomy has had an effect on women in the medical field. But oh boy, the commentary on sexual harassment and unfair work practices in this book? 10/10 and it blew me away with how raw Deidra Duncan went. We say a lot about women supporting women, but the plot twist in this book. Vicious, it’s so diabolical that my jaw dropped. Duncan taps into something that so many women silently experience and systems are slowly catching up.

I’m going to say this full stop: women can absolutely be brutal to one another and there are instances where women can be willing participants that actively facilitate and participate in a toxic work environment. Many often stay silent instead of speaking up to right wrongs. It festers and enables the ‘good ol’ boys club’. Full disclosure, the specific character that does such harm in this book is not redeemable, at all. The fact that it went on for 2 YEARS? The mind games, side stepping, the manipulation for THAT LONG? Child, it’s been a while since a book had me so shook that I had to put my Kindle down for half an hour.

Anyways back to Grace and Julian five stars all around enemies to lovers is alive and well but this book makes me appreciate all in health care. I also learned new medical terminology and practices (love that). One final thing, give my boy Asher a BOOK!

I was initially declined an ARC by the publisher but Deidra Duncan was absolutely amazing and provided an ARC right away. Truly, you don’t want to miss this book and Deidra is an author you need to keep an eye on.

This was such a great debut novel from a practicing physician! Taking place over the course of the first two years in a residency program for OB-GYN’s, it follows Grace and Julian, two out of the five interns. I would say the Grey’s Anatomy meets The Hating Game is a decent description - but I wouldn’t call it enemies to lovers exactly. More like bad-first-impression-to-reluctant-friends-to-lovers. I swooned, I giggled, I got a little sad. The writing had a lot of personality, I felt instantly connected with the characters. I felt like the pace went good, although I would have loved more of the medical side of things - not just the behind the scenes, but actually scenes with patients.

Overall, a really fun debut. I’d loved to see more from this author!

Really cute! It gave off early Greys vibes. I enjoyed the setting of Labor and Delivery. It was different and gave an interesting place for the usual tropes, a fun read all around.

LOVED every minute of this and could not put it down! 🥰 The prose was approachable and engaging and the pace was even and well done. Between Grace’s bitting wit, Julian’s bleeding heart, Maxwell’s friendship, Asher’s surprising depth,… this ensemble of characters was wonderful and dynamic.

Grace is a beautifully developed character. A gorgeous woman with severe social anxiety, a romantic history that broke her ability to trust her own instincts, a quick wit and a sassy attitude to mask the hurt that rumors inflict on her, and a nerdy excitement of flash cards. The layers to her character make her easily relatable on one level or another to a wide audience. She is a protagonist you want to see through to the end of the story to make sure she gets the happy ending she deserves.

Julian is the most delicious cinnamon roll! ❤️ He is a compelling character who embodies actions over words, is kind and empathetic, with a strong moral compass, and bleeding heart. I loved everything about him! His relationship with Grace is a wonderful slow-burn with lots of tension and witty banter.

The third act breakup 🙄 I really hate this trope. While I would have LOVED to avoid it, I will say that unlike some stories where the author uses the third act breakup arbitrarily to create drama to fill pages, the third act breakup for these two DOES feel like it is true to the character and where they are at. Not all healing and acceptance is linear, and I think the third act breakup reflects that well - could it have been avoided, yes, but so could a lot of relationship issues in the real world as well…

Let not forget this book come with a glossary of terms, which you know I love, for anyone who isn’t familiar with hospital residencies.

Love Sick by Diedra Duncan is absolutely witty and sweet medical romance!

If you're a fan of medical tv shows and wonder if they fall in love within their field, this book is right up your alley. I loved that the book had a lot of medical terms and it was very technical and detailed but in a way that anyone can understand and we got little bits of what it's like to be an OBGYN. Grace and Julian navigate the woes of being residents but as their residency goes, they become closer, they study together, feed off each other with advice and help one another and their animosity turns into a friend and then into falling in love. I loved Grace. Her character emulates what it's like to be a woman in the stem field and having to be stronger, better, and have your guard up and be an absolute badass. Julian and grace had an undeniable chemistry and seeing them fall in love was inevitable and they absolutely matched and balanced each other. The book is witty, fun, full of banter and lots of chemistry between them. A must read for my medical romance lovers!

I adore hospital romances and I went into it with high hopes. The glossary at the beginning was a little intimidating although I knew a lot of it already. Once I got into the story I realized it was silly to worry about.

The story was okay and I might have overhyped the story in my mind but found some parts of it falling short. I think the target audience is a younger crowd than me.

The main characters sounded a little immature for my style with low emotional intelligence and their back and forth came off as childish. The pacing, whether from the ARC formatting issues or the style of writing felt a little quick and hard to get into. I'll blame the formatting. But once you're into the story it sounds much more natural and the pacing works fine for the story.

I loved their inner dialogs, especially Julian's. It feels very real and raw and the silly moments were hilarious. There was a lot to like about the book. For the right audience I think it will be a well received story. It just wasn't landing for me.

I was looking for a good doctor romance! The blurb by Julie Soto sold me! Heartfelt but fun. I will be buying for my medical student / residency / doctor friends! The main character is obviously smart but the social anxiety aspect is very relatable. The spice element isn't super intense which I appreciate. I don't like when it's over the top. Cute cover and font style as well!

Grey’s Anatomy meets The Hating Game?! Couldn’t wait to read this debut novel as soon as I saw what was in store!

Read if you enjoy:
*** Enemies to lovers trope
*** Slow burn romance
*** Medical field drama
*** Light on the spice

This was a great debut novel by Deidra Duncan. I always love a enemies to lovers trope with a great buildup. The novel follows Grace and Julian through their OBGYN residency. Though Julian was super frustrating at times in the start of the novel, he definitely redeemed himself midway through.

Definitely looking forward to more from this author in the future!

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.
