Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.

Matilda has taught me more about bees then I have known in my last 40 years on earth. Very well written and illustrated in a manner that children will comprehend. The ending was a bit odd, but I'm sure new Matilda and Thomas will make their predecessors proud.

This was a very cute read that was cozy, yet informative way to teach young children about bees. It follows Matilda, a bee, and she goes about her jobs in the hive. I would highly encourage this book to any bee lovers, or classrooms that talk about animal jobs.

I LOVE bees. Matilda the worker bee chronicles her life in this beautifully illustrated picture book from birth to death (well, she has a little help narrating the death part). I love how detailed and factual this book is while still telling a wonderful story of bees and their daily lives. When they say you're as busy as a bee... it's not hyperbole. Matilda is ALWAYS working.

I loved this as much as I love bees!

Thank you Publisher Spotlight, Albatros Media, & NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this wonderful book. Beautiful, warm illustrations and well-written, easy to understand text combine into this informative look inside the hive and the life of Matilda, the bee. She gives us an almost daily account of what is happening inside the hive as well as shows us around the different areas and the different types of bees living and working there. This is a great book for an elementary school reader. There is also a QR code on the back cover for even more information about bees and their life. Looking forward to sharing this wonderful book with my students.

This was cute and informative. The illustrations were not only gorgeous, but they were well organized and I loved that they followed the linear timeline. I read this with my 5 year old and although a bit long for her, she enjoyed the illustrations and new vocabulary like pupa.

In this very informative non fiction picture book for children we get an inside look at what life is like as part of a hive Told in a diary format, the pictures are drawn with a loose hand with warm colors and sweet expressions on the bees faces to engage the reader. Information such as what bees eat and how they communicate with one another is given. A standout amongst non-fiction for younger readers.

A gorgeously illustrated and delightfully informative look at the lifespan of a bee, exploring their various jobs as feeder, forager, builder, guard, and more. This is a perfect introductory book for kiddos who are interested in our busy, buzzing little pals!

My son loves bees right now and when I make the buzzing sound. Reading this time him, I even learned a few things about bees that I didn’t know. The illustrations were great as well.

I think the diary format of this book is cute. It certainly provides a friendly and positive look at bees, which.l children may be scared of. The book does talk about death in a few different ways so probably best for parents to read before their children to deem if it is appropriate. Definitely educational, just may not be for very young or sensitive children.

This book is a cute and informative take on the life of a bee. It doesn't shy away from some of the sadder aspects of being a drone bee or the dangers of what can happen when a bee leaves to forage, but it still maintains and overall upbeat and hopeful tone, showing the hive continues to thrive.

This book is just precious! From start to finish, it was absolutely adorable. I wish when I taught preschool I had this for my classroom. My four kids and I have adored it!

Diary of a Bee is a perfect example of what I love about children's nonfiction. The illustrations are lively and beautiful, and do a great job to support the storytelling and information that they accompany. I was really impressed by Sekaninova's approach to explaining some of the parts of the bee's lifecycle that might seem sadder to little ones, and I think her matter-of-fact yet gentle way of explaining bees dying, disappearing, or leaving the hive is really well done.

My only gripe is that the description of the book is a touch misleading, as I felt that the book fell short in terms of putting into context the importance of bees in the ecosystem. This would have been fine if it had not been advertised as one of the book's features, but this is maybe just me being picky. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would be likely to put in a purchase request for this title for the collection at the library I work for.

Diary of a Bee is an illustrated diary of the entire life cycle of Matilda the bee. I learned a lot about each stage of a bee's life, and Matilda was a fun narrator! I think this is a great way to teach kiddos about bees, and the illustrations were absolutely adorable!

Diary of a Bee is an in-depth explanation of the life cycle of a bee. I was not expecting this level of knowledge from this book but, this would be helpful to a grade 3-5 student studying the life of a bee. The illustrations are well done. I first questioned if photographs would have been better but the more I read the more I reasoned that these picture would probably be difficult if not impossible to obtain.

Thank you Net Galley, Stepanka Sekaninova and Spotlight Publishing for the opportunity to preview this title. The opinions shared are my own.
This book is expected to be released April 15, 2025 and would be a great addition to public and school libraries alike.
