Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review

A very unique plot with some unique and great characters, I really enjoyed this the whole way through. The writing was incredible and just the imagination through this story is amazing! How do you think up all this stuff ?! I really enjoyed this and I recommend!

I liked it. It was a wild ride. We have Bridgerton with societal rules and expectations with Zombies and steampunk little animatronics. It was lots of genres in one, Sci-fi, romance, action/adventure. The audio was enjoyable. It’s duel POV and it’s narrated as such.

This was my first foray into steam punk but I'm afraid it might not be the genre for me. I found myself unable to get attached to any of the characters.

The Doomsday Vault by Steven Harper
Narrated in Duet by Curt Bonnem and Kim Bretton
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

A noblewoman pursuing a wealthy man so maintain her image in society and a fiddle playing, airship cabin boy fight zombies, mad scientists, and more in this steampunk adventure.

First, the narration of this novel was excellent, especially the performance by Curt Bonnem. His range of accents and distinguishable character voices was great!

The story itself had quite an interesting premise. I enjoy a good zombie novel, and this was a unique taste on the idea. The Clockwork Plague is a bizarre and strange virus that causes zombies to mindlessly roam the streets of Victorian London. The Plague is spread with a mere touch instead of a bite like in many zombie stories, which added a different level of fear, though they did not attack during the day or in the light. Most victims that contract the virus turn in to zombies, but a few become what London calls Clockworker geniuses, before turning insane and dying.

I would have liked to see more of the zombies since this seemed to be marketed as a Steampunk Zombie novel, because the zombies didn't invoke as much fear as they could have. The clockworkers were also interesting, and I would have rather followed Gavin on his adventures capturing clockworkers, instead of Alice fretting about her father's debts and trapping herself in a loveless marriage. While I understand why the narrative focused more on Alice than Gavin, I think his story would have been a much more exciting read.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the ALC.

I loved the steampunk era aspect of this book, the author really did a great job at portraying the story. It made me feel like I was right there with the MC and their adventures throughout the book. I am such a sucker for a good zombie story, the clockwork plaque isn't something I would have ever imagined and i thought that was such a great touch.

The audiobook narrator really brought the book to life.
