Preston is the perfect balance of ‘touch her and die’ while still also maintaining that Elle is capable of fighting her own battles. While perhaps the relationship did escalate seemingly quickly, it was still well balanced with the duel POVs showing the internal thoughts of both and the realisation they want it to be more. The change of terms of ‘endearment’ going from (derogatory) to (actual endearment) as the book went along added to wanting to root for the pair. When it’s advertised as ‘secrets unraveling’ it’s no understatement, as at least Preston sure knows how to keep a secret, or several. The best thing about this novel was the almost Austen-esque character development of Preston as he works to make changes based on things pointed out by Elle. While her influence definitely should be noted, it’s a welcome change of ‘I can’t fix him’ to read about a case of her pointing things out but also realizing ‘he can fix himself if he knows what’s good for him.’ All in all, definitely looking forward to Shot at Love Book #2.

I love a revenge fake dating book! This one was great! Elle is heartbroken over her ex who thought they weren't actually exclusive. Elle then goes and asks for a picture with his rival and they share a kiss. Once the media catches wind of it, their fake dating begins. Both of them realize that they are perfect for each other.

3.75 I couldn't get into it at the start but then I almost as read it in one sitting. I kinda can't wait for the 2nd book in the series. Yesterday my kindle died and I almost went mad because I wanted to finish this book (u realised I have a phone). Great read.

2.5 ⭐️ thank you to Netgalley for the Arc 💖

Ever wondered what happens when you mix a scorned woman, a hot hockey rivalry, and a fake dating scheme? Enter Revenge Puck, where Elle Townsend decides that the best way to get back at her ex, Christian Riley, is to cozy up to his arch-nemesis, Preston Lawrence. Because nothing says "I've moved on" and “I’m totally over it” like dating your ex's worst enemy, right? Iconic revenge strategy, honestly.
──────୨ৎ──────
tropes:
🏒 fake dating
🏒 grumpy x sunshine
🏒 jealous/possessive MMC
🏒 love triangle
──────୨ৎ──────
✧° Elle: The protagonist with a self-esteem and maturity level somewhere below sea level. Her constant self-doubt and need for validation was exhausting. Every compliment she receives is met with a firm “No, I’m a potato” response. It gets old. Fast. And growth? She left that concept on the bench.

✧° Preston: The brooding hockey player with a heart of gold…buried under layers and layers of emotional baggage. Mysterious? Absolutely. But he’s also red flag central.

✧° Christian: The walking, talking "I’m not the bad guy” ex. His subplot with Maya sometimes steals the spotlight, making you wonder who the real main character are.
──────୨ৎ──────
Elle’s constant comparisons between Preston and Christian drove me absolutely up the wall. Every interaction seemed to circle back to her ex, making Preston feel more like a rebound than a genuine romantic interest. It’s like she couldn’t decide whether she wanted revenge, romance, or just to drag everyone into her unresolved trauma. Me included, apparently.

The conversations between the characters often felt forced and unnatural. The plot also requires an almost Olympic-level suspension of disbelief. Elle somehow gains backstage access to a major hockey arena during the Stanley Cup Finals like it’s no big deal. And then there’s the convincing a professional athlete to shave his playoff beard mid-championship… that one had me actually shaking my head.
──────୨ৎ──────
what was missing:
✳
timeline was rushed; it was 6 hockey games (like 2-weeks?) and their relationship was full-speed instalove
✳ no real character growth or development
✳ immature characters; I thought this was a college romance at first
✳ plot was insanely unrealistic
──────୨ৎ──────
Revenge Puck is like that guilty pleasure reality show you claim to “hate-watch” but end up binging in one sitting. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, drama-packed romance with some truly questionable decisions, this one’s for you. Just don’t expect logic to make the roster.

Will I read the next one? Probably, because who doesn’t love a good redemption arc & admittedly the next trope has me in a chokehold.

Love a good hockey romance!
While the book wasn’t my favorite within the trope, it was well written with good banter. It didn’t leave me up reading past bedtime, however it did keep my interest! It’s one I would suggest to those who enjoy the trope.

I'm in a hockey romance phase and I really wanted to like this book. The title made me giggle. Unfortunately I think it just fell short for me. The meet cute was so incredibly unbelievable -- and not in the sense that it was unbelievable to me the reader (because TBH a lot of romance books have meet cutes unlikely to happen in real life) but in the sense that if I were witnessing their relationship happen, I'd never believe it. Preston definitely was a grump, but he was almost too grumpy for me, and I just didn't feel the spark between the MMC and the FMC.

Thanks to the publisher for an advance copy of this book.

I recently finished reading this book and I must say, it was a captivating and refreshing experience. From the moment I started the book, I was hooked by its grounded and relatable portrayal of romance.
The plot is incredibly realistic, which is something I truly appreciated. The love story unfolds at a pace that feels true to life—there are no unrealistic twists or melodramatic moments that often plague romantic novels. Instead, the characters face real-life challenges, personal growth, and emotional struggles that anyone can relate to. The story touches on themes of trust, vulnerability, and the importance of self-discovery before fully opening up to someone else.
What stood out most to me was the character development. The protagonist evolve throughout the book, and their emotional growth is depicted with such care. Their flaws, strengths, and vulnerabilities are portrayed in a way that makes them feel like real people, not just characters on a page. It’s rare to find a romance where the characters' emotional journeys are as important as their romantic connection, and [Book Title] does this beautifully. Their interactions felt authentic, and the relationship built naturally over time, making it all the more rewarding by the end.
This book made me reflect on my own experiences and left me with a sense of hope that love can grow in the most unexpected ways. It's a novel about finding love not just with someone else, but also with yourself. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romance that feels real, with characters that are fully realized and a plot that keeps you invested from start to finish.

A light and fast read with some spice, this hockey romance contains a lot of tropes that we all know and love - the grumpy MC who actually has a soft protective side for the people he loves fiercely, jealousy, and a whirlwind steamy romance. Fun to read, this is great when you need a quick relief from heavier novels.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance electronic copy. All opinions are my own.

Cute story about a woman trying to get back at her hockey ex for doing wrong by her by “faking it” with the one guy that it was not okay to be with. The MMC is the overly grumpy, not friends with anyone hockey player that finds maybe there really is more to life than the game. If you’re looking for a good story with a HEA then I defiantly recommend this book. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

What a fun and steamy hockey read.
Elle has been dating Christian a hot hockey player, and he dumps her the first night of the Stanley cup finals. She is so hurt and mad. She meets Preston Lawrence, who Christian Riley hates and asks him to fake date her.
Grumpy Preston goes along with the fake dating. Preston didn't know how much he enjoyed spending time with Elle. Preston even let her trim his beard and cut his hair during playoffs. Preston's team yelled at him, and he just blows them all off.
Preston takes Elle to dinner, and she hangs with him after. Oh my, he is yummy.
When Elle shows the sign at the game, it makes Christian livid but Preston, and he plays it up.
When the game goes back to DC, Preston asks Elle to come to town. First, she is leary, but it ends up being a great time!
Preston and his jealousy and anger get the best of him. He calls it all off, and Elle is heartbroken.
What Preston has done is protect his sister and nephew. He must make some choices to make life better for his sister and nephew, but also for his and Elle's happiness.

This author is new to me, but I will be keeping an eye out for anything else they publish. I loved the story and the characters. The pacing of the story was great and the characters were relatable.

I found there to be A LOT of spelling and grammar errors in the book, some were harder to get past then others.

I’m not huge on sport romance. But this one. It had everything you’d want. A fake relationship. Drama. Charm. And oddly it felt kinda cozy. My younger self would’ve eaten this up!

Revenge Puck was my first hockey romance. This story has Preston and Christen used to be best friends/ roommates turn mortal enemies hockey pros after Christen dumps Preston sister. Maya We have Elle who got dumped by Christen so to get revenge she fake dates / turns romantic with Preston. In this book the characters move very fast and spicy with each other. Will they be able to sort thru all the drama, secrets, spice,, hatred, love, revenge and jealousy to find a peaceful ending??

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for an Honest Review!!!

Revenge Puck is a light hearted fast moving hockey romance. After being blindsided and dumped by her hockey star boyfriend the day his team starts playing in the championship tournament, Elle enlists her ex’s rival Preston (who her ex has to play against) to help get her revenge.

After a few staged situations of Elle and Preston being caught together “dating” their relationship takes a turn, thus uncovering the real reason behind the men’s hatred towards one another. Throughout the tournament all forms of punches are thrown and everything could be on the line for the main characters.

Can the fake dating turn into more? Why does Elle’s ex and Preston hate each other? And most importantly who wins the championship? Read to find out!

Though this book can feel like the characters rushed their feelings for one another, it makes sense given the circumstances and the format of this book. This book moved at a fast pace but nevertheless put a smile on my face.

Thanks L.A. Hart and NetGalley for this read!

A sweet and funny hockey romance with good chemistry between the MMC and FMC. Christian is an asshole for most of the book and fully deserves the revenge plot that Ellel and Preston cook up. Audrey is a good side character and a loyal friend who is a good addition to the book. It’s interesting to see how Preston develops as a team player over the course of the book also and learns to control his temper on the ice, whilst Elle learns to accept that she really is desirable. The sub-plot with Maya and Christian regarding their son Finley makes for a great lead-in for a sequel. Overall a four star read for me and a book I am glad I read that I’d recommend to other hockey romance fans.

I had high hopes for this book, based on the advertised tropes and the good feedback it was getting but it turned out to not be my cup of tea.
The storyline incredibly rushed and the story was not shown but told to the reader. The book felt like it was 80% dialogue that strechted unnecessarily long and was filled with details that weren’t needed.
The relationship between Elle and Preston felt too fast-paced and superficial. Their ‘deep-connection as soulmates’ not really believable.

this was not well written, 99.9% dialogue and the MMC and other male characters were the most toxic characters. There was literally a sentence that said 'it was nice to you me'... which was obviously meant to be it was nice to meet you. I know this is an arc, so errors are bound to happen, but there was way too many to ignore.

Revenge Puck is following recently single, Elle and her ex boyfriends rival, Preston. This is a fake dating, revenge, hockey romance with lots of spice and a bunch of intense scenes.

I had a lot of fun reading this and couldn’t put it down- I ended up finishing in a matter of hours. This book was so fast paced, there was constant action which kept me gripped but because of this it also felt like the relationship between Ella and Preston was a bit rushed and they became ‘in love’ a bit quick.
