The twists in this book just keep on coming and just when you think, the terror is over, it hits you like a truck. Such a refreshening read and storyline. Highly recommend.

THE NIGHT SHIFT BY GEMMA ROGERS.
Release date set for the 6th of March 2025.
This is my second book by Gemma and it was another brilliant book and i really enjoyed it.
This was a very fast read for me as it's so good you find yourself flying through it and before you know it i was finished.
Congratulations on another brilliant book.

The Night Shift by Gemma Rogers is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that keeps the tension high from start to finish. The story follows a university student who takes on the night shift at a storage facility, appreciating the solitude and flexibility—until one terrifying shift changes everything. When a man arrives dragging a suspicious suitcase, instinct tells her something is very wrong. Trapped and isolated, she must rely on her wits to survive the night.
Rogers masterfully builds suspense, making every moment feel urgent and unsettling. The setting—a quiet, empty storage facility in the dead of night—adds an eerie backdrop that enhances the tension. The protagonist is relatable and resourceful, making it easy to root for her as she navigates a harrowing ordeal.
With short, punchy chapters and relentless pacing, The Night Shift is a heart-pounding read that keeps you hooked until the very end. Fans of high-stakes thrillers will find plenty to love in this tense, atmospheric story.

I recieved this book from the publisher, & my goodness thank you! The Night Shift is about Nina, a girl in her early twenties who is going to college to be a doctor, but needed a part time job that also worked with her schedule. The Night Shift at the Storage Queen was a perfect fit! There is a night at Storage Queen that Nina will never forget, where she fights for her life, & a lot more... all on one 12 hour shift. I enjoyed this book SO much. I felt the book took off from the beginning & I kept wanting to know more. I loved that the author brought someone being diabetic into the book to honor her daughter. I love a good thriller quick read, & this book was definitely that!

This was almost a DNF for me around 25% or so, but I changed my mind and decided to stick with it once it switched to Sasha’s POV. I had no idea how I was going to get through a whole book of this girl being chased around the storage center, especially since it starts off with that pretty quickly. Also, Nina CONSTANTLY makes bad decisions, sometimes in rapid-fire succession (this was part of why I almost stopped reading originally…it was bad decision after bad decision for the first 3-4 chapters).
However, once more characters are introduced into the setting it becomes a little more engaging and I was able to see that it was more than just Nina hiding all night. My biggest critique overall is the epilogue, especially the last few paragraphs, which almost felt like I was reading the end of a children’s book.
Overall, I thought this was a fun, fast-paced, quick read!

I'm a huge thriller fan but this book did not do it for me. Nina is a medical student who works night shift in a storage facilty who is being hunted by a killer. The start of the book was gripping unfortunately this did not last long and the rest of the book was meh. I love thrillers with twists and this book lacked in twists big time. The fact Nina had several times she could escape and did not was so unrealistic. Overall 2.5 stars.

The Night Shift by Gemma Rogers is an edge of your seat fast paced novel.
Gemma Rogers delivers a perfect locked room thriller.
Nina is a medical student trapped in her jobs building with a deranged killer. I did feel like she had a few chances to escape but didn’t.

Nina is a medical student at college who is working 12 hour night shifts at a 24 hour storage depot. She works alone, and enjoys the solitude as it means she is able to concentrate on her studies in peace, not many customers use the facility during the night hours. Nina is a type 1 diabetic, and wears a continuous blood sugar monitor which can send alerts through to her phone if she is running low or high. The night started badly for Nina, she had a huge row with her boyfriend, and he broke up with her, just before she had to set off for work.
Part of Ninas job is to do regular walk throughs of the three floors of the facility throughout the night. Usually, she is alone, but this particular night, she feels as though someone else is around. The customers are given a number code to open the main doors if Nina is away from reception, so it is possible a customer has entered while she was on another floor, but Nina feels uneasy.
This is a real cat and mouse, sheer roller coaster of a book. A fantastic storyline that had me literally on the edge of my seat. I stayed up late to finish it, the ending does not disappoint. Well worth a read.

Gemma Rogers has delivered another gripping read with this latest title. From the very first page, the story pulls you in and refuses to let go. While the pacing does fluctuate, and there are moments of repetition, these minor issues don't detract significantly from the overall enjoyment. The real strength of the book lies in its expertly crafted twists and turns. They are genuinely surprising and will keep you guessing until the very end – I certainly didn't see them coming! Rogers effectively taps into the universal anxieties of working a night shift alone in a deserted building, creating a palpable sense of unease. The reader will find themselves experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions alongside the protagonist, Nina. Additionally, the author's portrayal of living with diabetes is both informative and sensitively handled, adding another layer of depth to the narrative. Overall, this is a compelling and suspenseful read that fans of Gemma Rogers' work are sure to enjoy.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This is a cracker of a read from the dedication to her daughter and explaing at the end about being a type 1 diabetic it was brilliant!!
Nina is training to be a doctor and works at a storage warehouse on the night shift. Her boyfriend gives her an ultimatum either go to Thailand with him or they are over???? Nothing will stop Nina from becoming a doctor
The night shift doesn't go well. A man acting very suspicious turns up at the storage warehouse with a suitcase that looks very heavy??? Something isn't right but what?
As Nina battles the nightshift will she come out of it in one piece? Is stacey the manager all she claims to be?
Is there a link somewhere? I loved it!! Highly recommend

In the very beginning I had an uneasy anxious feeling while reading. Of course that’s a great feeling to have when reading something branded as a mystery thriller. I felt like I was working the night shift right along with Nina dealing with creeps.
I also really loved that she had diabetes. Not only do I love the representation but I love that her having diabetes and NEEDING insulin at a certain time/needing her phone to check her blood sugar added another layer of tension. Despite the great start, things started to slow down a third of the way through and I lost that anxious feeling. A lot of the dialogue was repetitive and I started to wonder when the story would pick back up. Fortunately, it did and the twists and ending of the long shift really made it all worth it. I must add: I was highly annoyed at some of Nina’s choices but hey – it made for a great read.

This book started out strong. I'd call it a mix of suspense and horror. However, around the 50% mark, it started to feel a bit ridiculous. She has several opportunities to escape and chooses not to take them? By the end, I was really struggling to finish. I did enjoy the author's writing style, this book just wasn't for me.

I’ve read many books from Gemma Rogers and was thrilled to read her new one The Night Shift. Nina is a night shift worker/medical student who works at a storage facility. She likes this job because it’s quiet and she can study during working hours.
After having an argument with her boyfriend, Nina arrives at work and things start to go terribly wrong. This is an edge of your seat thriller with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book!!

Gemma Rogers delivers a gripping, tension-filled thriller with The Night Shift, a story that had me hooked from the very first page. 📖🔥 The novel brilliantly captures the eerie isolation of working alone at night, making it the perfect setting for a cat-and-mouse game filled with suspense. 🐱🆚🐭
What I loved most about this book was its fast pace and relentless tension. ⏳💥 The protagonist is relatable, and I found myself rooting for her as she navigated the terrifying events of that one fateful night. 😨🙌 The atmosphere is chilling, and the sense of dread builds with every chapter, making it impossible to put down. 📚😱
Rogers does a fantastic job of keeping the reader guessing. 🔄🤯 Just when I thought I had figured out what was happening, another twist threw me off. The writing style is engaging, and the vivid descriptions of the setting made me feel like I was right there, experiencing every moment of fear alongside the main character. 🌙🔦
If you enjoy psychological thrillers in the vein of Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell, this book is a must-read. ✅📚 It’s an intense, pulse-pounding ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. 🚀💀 Highly recommended! 👏✨

Nina is working nights at a storage facility to fund her way through university. She mans the desk and checks customers in and out. One night a man is acting rather suspiciously and puts Nina on edge. When her phone goes missing things take a turn for the worse, not helped by the fact that the phone alerts Nina to her blood sugar levels as she is type 1 diabetic and has to be carefully controlled. As things progress can Nina get out and escape from danger?
From the outset this is one of those edge of your seat reads where I kept turning to find out more. It's a locked room-time limited scenario which makes the tension bristle between the pages. Gemma is a skilled author who has the talent for putting the reader right there with Nina and experiencing the uncertainty. A thrilling roller coaster of a read. Hold on to your seat and enjoy!

3 stars. First I need to say I love this author's books. This one, not so much. So Nina is a medical student who works a few nights a week at a storage place. She works the night shift so she's able to do her homework and study. No one comes in at night to do any storage. Until tonight. Can Nina get through her 12 hour shift alive? This book was full of action and grabbed me up to about the 40 percent mark. Then it slowed way down to a crawl. A lot of repetition. I was hoping her shift would end soon so I could finish the book. It ended with a bang though. Very very good ending which redeemed this book. I love this author's writing style and plots. This one just simply missed the mark with me. I do, however, recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it.

Sorry not for me got bored with first few chapters and predictability of it. New to thrillers might like this but the slow start put me off.

Gemma Rogers’ The Night Shift is the PERFECT locked-room thriller full of tension, twists, and sheer adrenaline. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through!!
Nina, a college student who works the night shift at a storage facility for peace, quiet, and the perfect study time, ends up getting absolutely none of that. What was supposed to be just another 12-hour shift spirals into a relentless game of cat and mouse when an unexpected visitor turns the night into pure, heart-pounding chaos.
Interesting points: Multiple POVs, locked-room suspense, cat-and-mouse tension, Type 1 diabetes, scary premise, and a strong female lead who refuses to go down without a fight.
This is a must-read for thriller fans who love high stakes and non-stop suspense!
