Sadly, this story flopped for me. The entire premise of the primary conflict is honestly very stupid. The members of a group project slack off and contribute nothing, so Sangwoo Choo leaves their names out. He gets all of the grief for being "heartless" because they automatically failed due to nonparticipation. Jaeyoung Jang, a senior whose complete non-attendance of the class gets discovered because of this, hates Sangwoo. But...I really do not get why it's treated as if Sangwoo is the one in the wrong? He wasn't. His classmates did not contribute to the project, so they failed. Maybe there's some other Korean etiquette thing I'm missing, but from my view, Sangwoo didn't do anything wrong. Sure, he's very uptight and rigid in his routine, but he wasn't wrong to leave off their names. But because Jaeyoung is forced to retake the semester, as he doesn't have enough credits to graduate, he decides to make Sangwoo's life on campus hell. Except...Jaeyoung is wrong for this??? He's harassing someone when HE is at fault for never attending class and never contributing to the project. The story is trying to play this as an enemies-to-lovers story, but this is just one guy being a dick cause he got caught slacking. I don't know, this story just irritates me because it acts as if Sangwoo is in the wrong and is the bad guy who calling out his classmates. But, you don't do the work, you don't get the credit. The art is good, I did enjoy that.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

I first watched the Semantic Error TV show and then read the webcomic, so it was great to experience the story in this digital book format. Even though I already know what happens, I still really enjoyed reading it.
Sangwoo’s logical, no-nonsense attitude clashing with Jaeyoung’s playful and persistent personality makes their dynamic so entertaining. This is only the first volume, so it doesn’t cover the whole story, but it was a great reminder of why I love these two characters so much. My heart already hurts for Sangwoo, and I really like Jaeyoung too.
If you’re a fan of Semantic Error, this is definitely worth checking out. I’m looking forward to the next volume!

This was an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the banter and the lead up to why the two main characters were beefing with each other l0l. I will definitely continue with the story in the future.
Thank you Net Galley and publisher for the e-book to review.

In Semantic Error the popular Jaeyoung Jang fails to graduate on time when the anti-social, studious Sangwoo Choo notices his absence and reports this to their professor. Jaeyoung blames Sangwoo and decides to make his life miserable.
"...I don't think I've ever been ignored like this in my entire life. I want him to be aware of me. Just as much as I've been of him."
This BL manwha was a very fun read to me. Beware of the dark romance themes in this story. While no one likes to be stalked this way in real life, the juxtaposition of the serious Sangwoo and the persistent Jaeyoung make for very funny situations.
"If you think I'm a pushover, you're dead wrong. I'm not scared of anything, and I've dealt with my fair share of psychopaths, scumbags, and attentionseekers like you."
Semantic Error features a consistent, solid art style with handsome characters. The story is engaging and funny. I like how the setting seems well thought out. It features various college classes and other places on campus. The side characters are also slowly being developed along our two main characters.
I would recommend this story to people that enjoy darker romance stories. Semantic Error has a solid art style, is funny and features a well crafted setting.

Grumpy x Sunshine College AU? Did anyone else miss those?
I love the slow start to their relationship. Unlike other manga/webcomics, the characters stay true to their personalities. Both Jaeyoung and Sangwoo stay true to themselves as people. The art was great and I loved the cheeky inserts of each emotion. I can't wait to read the second volume.

So fun! I absolutely LOVED Semantic Error when it came out and to this day it's a favourite comfort rewatch. To see if come to life as a comic is so cool. The art is absolutely gorgeous and I love the small changes they made. Can't wait to keep reading!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this first volume of this BL, college, sunshine x grumpy, enemies to lovers story. The length, for a multiple volume manga, was long (which I loved!). My only complaint is that by the end of this volume is, there is no inclining that there will be a relationship of some sort for these 2 MCs; it’s still pretty much in the hate phase (at least by 1 of them). I will be on the lookout for the next volume!

Such a refreshing manhwa! It was my second time reading this and it will not be the last. I know how their story ends and it was so lovely to be back and read Vol 1 again. It's realistic, beautiful, funny, sad and all in between. It's a journey of falling in love and I was so happy that I found this little gem. There were moments where I naturally felt frustrated with Sangwoo and Jaeyoung, but isn't this how it supposed to be? To feel uncomfortable? Bothered? You deduct, learn, try and make decisions that sometimes are selfish, sometimes are dumb or sometimes are for the sake of the things you were tought. As I said - realistic. They both compliment each other, teach and learn things from each other and it's only the beginning for them.

One of the best comics I’ve ever read.
The dynamic between Sangwoo and Jaeyoung was beautiful. The grumpy x sunshine trope was definitely the highlight here
Nevermind Sangwoo being autistic coded, I love him. But I’m still confused about his college schedule
Give me volume 2 DAMN

I liked the set-up of this, and just love the trope of the popular guy needing the one guy in the room who's not looking at him to see him, so that was fun as well. I do think a little more urgency, especially coming to the end of the volume, would've been nice. Just something with a bit more of a hook to get me looking forward to the next volume. As it is, I think this will be catnip to anyone who loves a BL story in a university setting, and while it's more I-wanna-annoy-you than truly enemies to lovers it still has that nice little tension to it.

This was a really funny, light-hearted read about a guy who takes all the names off their group project because the others haven't contributed to it. Which then devolves into a 'rivalry' with a designer, who is in all his classes and who he needs to work with. The illustrations are amazingly done and I loved the video game-like illustrations.

Honestly, much better than I expected. Kinda stalker-ish when you really think about it, but since it’s a cute little romance I’m not gonna read too deeply into it.
Pretty solid characterization within the first volume.

The art and the flow is very easy on eyes and entertaining, but I had a level of discomfort about the character dynamics here. People read the MC as "autistic coded" and it gets briefly addressed by the text, but I think this is downplaying it a little - respectfully, I do think the MC is depicted as autistic, therefore I find the fact that the love interest continues to purposefully disrupt his routines to get under his skin actually aggravating. Coming at it from a neurodivergent angle, it looks truly bothersome as opposed to sexy rivalry dynamic, which didn't let me enjoy what otherwise could have been a pretty bratty college relationship. MC looks and feels genuinely distressed and that to me drowns out the rest of it. To each their own, of course, and I could see how it can be enjoyed by handwaving similar concerns: the art is lovely and the story is dynamic, and in isolation love interest's character is fun to poke at.
Thanks to Netgalley and Yen Press/Ize press for the review copy.

I've read this entire story before but I come back to it every once and a while. I just love how different they both are from your typical m/m romances. Book one only contains the enemies to lovers set up and has the end at more amicable terms. It's a slow burn but worth it.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for my honest review and opinion.

This was the beginning of what I can tell will be a heartfelt story.
Although I do not really connect with Sangwoo and find his grumpiness a bit intolerable, I love Jaeyoung and his ability to laugh, have fun, and joke around. I really hope Jaeyoung can rub off on Sangwoo because I don’t know how much longer I can take of his insufferable grumpy self.
They are the perfect blend of opposites attract. Where Sangwoo is rigid, closed off, and rude, Jaeyoung is carefree, friendly, and thoughtful (except for when he’s trying to get back at Sangwoo).
I look forward to learning more about Sangwoo’s past and what has transpired to make him act the way that he does. There must be a reason.. right?
All in all this was a very good manhwa and I’m thankful to have received an e-arc of it.

Thank you so much for the ARC!
The art in this is wonderful, the writing is excellent, and the story overall is great! The character dynamics are all fun, and the story is really interesting. I'm looking forward to reading volume 2, and checking out the novel when it comes out in English!

If this is going the way i think it's going, I'm interested to see how Jaeyoung turns things around for Sangwoo. It feels like a bit of a hard launch for a modern enemies to lovers plot, but both characters are very driven, so there's potential.

One of the best BLs out there! Art? Absolutely STUNNING. Tension? Impeccable? Hate to friends to lovers to angst?? Nicely done! One less star for the drama at the end of the story but ugh love themmm!!!

This was the first manhwa I ever read and I enjoyed it pretty much, it was lovely and funny. I'm interested in the next volumes.

I am in love with Semantic Error. The translation was great and it was just like the k-drama. I’ve been obsessed with Semantic Error for a couple of years now and having the book come out in English is sending me back into that obsession!! I can’t wait to buy a physical copy of this and buy each one as they come out! The romance between these two is so sweet and hilarious! It was an easy read and something that I think a wide variety of people could get into.
