This book was such an emotional roller coaster! I loved getting to be back in this universe with all the characters I loved in previous books. We saw little bits of Rosie in the previous books so I was excited to learn more about her in this book. She was such a funny, strong character and I totally felt for her and all the things she’d had to deal with on her life. She had the best attitude about everything though (even if everyone else maybe would’ve preferred she took things more seriously).
I also really enjoyed Adam’s character. For the first part of the book he was kind of this quiet, mysterious character that we knew nothing about but the more I learned the more I loved him. He had such an interesting life with so much going on but I loved that even with all that he was mainly focused on pining for Rosie. The way they were so clearly into each other but wouldn’t act on it was so entertaining and then just got even better when they finally did act on their feelings.
Rosie and Adam were such a good pair and their whole storyline of getting trapped in the portal and everything that came after made me so much more emotional than I was expecting. I loved how this book played out and even though it was bittersweet it felt like the perfect ending for these characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit for the ARC!!

This was a wonderful visit back into this world and a very different story than the others. I really loved this story and Rosie and Adam are just perfect! <3

Thank you NetGalley and Orbit for the opportunity to read this eARC

This series is everything - hilarious, heartwarming, steamy, quirky, and just overall a damn good time. I would read 1,000 books in this world. Alas, The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is the final foray into Tanria 😭

What would happen if a not-red headed immortal with a penchant for fine lingerie got trapped inside a former prison made for gods with an extra dry (but impeccably dressed) genius, dragons, and a pair of ex-lovers taboot? Well, you’ll have to read Adam and Rosie’s story to find out. But let me tell you this book was the perfect final installment to one of my favorite series. While it may not scored quite as high on the laugh scale as the first two books*, it made up for it with an extra dose of heartwarming tenderness. And the ending just felt so RIGHT.

(*this may also be attributed to the general state of, well everything, right now)

Thank you, Megan Bannen, for creating this series that has meant so much to me. I love this crazy world and beautiful characters with my whole heart. I must also note that you have a special talent for making me both laugh and cry at the same time.

I loved this just as much as the previous two in the series! Rosie is a delightful protagonist, and her "pocket man" love interest was a great contrast. Some unexpected turns in the story made for a heavy emotional punch, especially since this dealt heavily with death and immortality. I would happily read more books set in this universe, even though I know this is the last in the series. A great comfort read with a dose of adventure and humor!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc! Opinions are my own.

This is the third book in Megan Bannen’s fantasy rom-com series. It follows Rosie, a Tanrian marshall, after the portals into Tanria start malfunctioning and the help of the portals inventor, Adam, is needed.

I loved being back in the world. It’s one of my favorite fantasy worlds. I loved Rosie and Duckers friendship. I liked the plot and learning more about the gods. What I didn’t love was the romance. Adam was so closed off for 70ish% of the book that I didn’t feel any chemistry between him and Rosie. I felt like they didn’t really get to know each other. The booking solely Rosie’s POV didn’t help either. This was basically instalove which I’m not a fan of. I loved the first two books and will definitely read more by Megan Bannen.

The third and (sadly) final installment of Megan Bannen’s romantasy trilogy comes to a fitting and thoroughly satisfying conclusion with the most unlikeliest of pairings – a towering red eyed demigod named Rosie, a Tanrian Marshall who is an immortal (to her increasing regret as the decades and centuries pile up), with a secret love of luxury undergarments to offset the hated Marshall’s uniform.

Her counterpart, Dr. Adam Lee, was the inventor of the portals that gave humans the ability to transition between the normal world and that of Tanria, the created and fantastical land that served as a prison for the Old Gods before their release to become stars on the altar of the night sky. Besides being a foot shorter than the 6 foot 5 inch Rosie, he is cold, reserved, and withdrawn – a stark contrast to the bubbly and snarky Rosie who routinely fixes recalcitrant portals by whacking them. This, Dr. Lee does NOT approve of in the least.

In true rom com fashion, these total opposites are thrown together by unforeseen circumstances – the portals are being compromised and broken by some shadowy entities that Rosie can see but not touch. She and her trusty and profane sidekick, Penrose Duckers, are assigned to make sure Dr. Lee remains safe as he works the problem. Complications upon complications ensue, including Rosie’s unexpected and growing attraction to her ‘pocket man’, as Duckers dubs Dr. Lee.

All of this makes for an interesting tale that does deliver an HEA…but here is where the author takes the book into deeper themes of sacrifice, loss and family. From the start of the series with The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, death and rebirth have been a thru line, and this continues in the current book. What this means has ripple effects not just for the main protagonists but for everyone around them – and those impacts on the friends and family are explored in ways that raise the stakes considerably.

Beyond the wonderful details of Tanria – the dragons that are definitely not like the ones Dr. Lee knew from long ago – the nimkilim (formerly messengers for the Gods and now reduced to being the Tanrian equivalent of UPS) – and other exotic animals that have some resemblance to earthly counterparts, but with a twist – those deeper threads and themes are the ones that resonant well beyond the last page. There are few books I turn around and immediately re-read, but every entry into this trilogy has qualified for that action and revealed more insights.

I highly recommend this book and the series. Come for the abundant humor, great world building, irresistible characters, a true ‘enemies to lovers’ trope enlivened with a side dish of ‘unlikely partners’, but stay for the deeper and thought provoking ideas about what really constitutes a well lived life, and what sacrifices might be called upon to save the world and save the ones you most love.

I LOVED The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy when I read it earlier this year (my current favorite read of the year), and I very much enjoyed The Undermining of Twyla and Frank. I went into Rosie and Adam's book with very high hopes.
Rosie is a Marshal, a demigod, and, even more rare, immortal. When she notices something wrong with the portal into Tanria (and touches it, getting electrocuted and dying... again..) she and her partner are teamed up with the tough egg to crack inventor of the portals to figure out what is going on.

Right off the bat I was reminded why I love this series so much- heartwarming friendships, banter, an interesting fantastical world to name a few things. While I wasn't kicking my feet and feeling the tension and romance as much in this one, I enjoyed how Rosie pulled Adam from his shell and began unraveling his layers.
I enjoyed it immensely, but it is probably my least favorite of the three. I wasn't enamored by Adam as much as Hart and Frank, and there seemed to be way less action in this one than the other ones. The plot felt pretty repetitive until the end. But what a lovely ending it was. I am sad that our time in Eternity and Tanria is over- I loved every second.
I rated it 4/5.
A HUGE thank you to NetGalley and Orbit Books for the ARC!

The last book in this trilogy, set about 10 years after the second book, this was a delightful and wonderful read. I basically devoured this book in one night, and spent most of the last third of this book tearing up and then absolutely sobbing. I loved the way the characters developed their relationship (short kings and tall queens rule!) and also the amount of blending that Bannen did for the other characters in this book. This truly felt like a great conclusion to the trilogy and I loved seeing how all the OG characters from the first two books turned out, and how the final pairing of Adam and Rosie ended so well for the both of them. <spoiler> Also, Bannen writes deadbeat/absent fathers really well and writes their apologies and acknowledgement of the wrongs they committed and whoo boy that was a real tear jerker. </spoiler>

I truly loved every book in this series and can't wait to see what Bannen writes next! Thank you so much to NetGalley, Megan Bannen, and Orbit/Hachette for this eARC!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest.

I absolutely adored the first two books in this series by Megan Bannen, and I was so thrilled to have the chance to read the third and final installment, The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam.

Only getting previously glimpses in the prior books, it was exciting to finally fully befriend the girl-boss immortal demigod and Tanrian Marshall legend, Rosie Fox. We got to learn Rosie’s history and it was so easy to fall in love with her confidence and charm. We also got to meet Dr. Adam Lee, genius and creator of the Tanrian Portals (plus some more exiting things). I loved getting to know and love Rosie and Adam, while also revisiting old favorites (Hart, Mercy, Twyla, Duckers, etc). Bannen did an awesome job at seamlessly blending in the characters from previous books.

This book, like the series, was the perfect cozy blend of the mundane and the fantastical. To me, this was the ideal ending to a delightful series. We got to see all the HEAs from previous books, as well as a new one for Rosie and Adam (plus Zeddie and Duckers).

(Big thank you to NetGalley, Megan Bannen, and Orbit/Hachette for allowing me to read this eCopy ARC. All reviews are my own.)

I really wanted to love this one, and while it’s definitely got its positives it is not a favourite of this series.

The first half of the book feels very slow, repetitive, and redundant. It feels like the author wanted to spend time with the mystery but didn’t actually spend any time trying to solve the mystery. It was “go here, go there, go back here” without any thought or attempted solutions from the characters. I suspect Adam’s POV would have had much more thought overall, but we spent the entire book in Rosie’s head and she is deeply lacking in awareness outside her own brain. It left me fairly bored and underwhelmed with the plot.

I also wasn’t fully sold on the romance as I was in the previous books. I enjoy Adam’s character, particularly in the second half, but Rosie is just this side of too silly for me. Sometimes she makes me laugh, more often she made me roll my eyes. While Adam’s aloof quiet demeanour made for a good contrast to Rosie, I don’t feel that they spent enough time genuinely connecting emotionally. Rosie’s growing lust just evolved into love without a ton of effort from either character. This wouldn’t be as big an issue if there were other things going on, but like I said. We go here, then we go here… then we’re in love. Meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not entirely disappointed in the book as a whole, but for a story that spends 70% of its time genuinely trapped in one location, I found everything fairly underwhelming.

Megan Bannen, nails it again!!!! I read this fast to get a general rating out of the gate and I cannot wait to re-read in a physical copy when it publishes!

I love this series! It is the perfect balance of humor and heartfulness and romance! The author sucks you into this world that is like a western meets Percy Jackson fantasy so effortlessly. While this may be my least favorite pairing out of the trilogy, it was a perfect wrap up to the series!

A delightful wrap up of the series! We get star studded appearances of our favorite characters and wrap ups of some story lines. I continue to love the equimaris, graps, nimkilim, and autoducks. You have to embrace the wild nature of fantasy books with this series but it is written well in the wilds of Tanria.

Reading this third installment was a lot of fun, the star of the show is the middle third of the book. I loved the Tanrian adventures and trying to puzzle out Adam’s past.

I gave the first two books five stars and this one four. This book is still wonderful but the latter third is primarily about the old god new god issues and that just doesn’t do it for me as much as the flora and fauna does. If you yearn to learn more of the old god new god lore, this will be a five plus star read for you!

The relationship felt like insta love. I enjoyed our duo but felt their dynamic was rushed for only being in this predicament for a short period of time and so it was harder to buy in to their emotional turmoil towards their future together.

I recommend this for fans of the series. It is a very satisfying conclusion and I’m excited to see what Megan Bannen does next!

If I could give this book a bajillion stars, I would, but times that by a trillion. I am in absolute LOVE over the world that Megan Bannen has created. I thoroughly enjoyed that we got more world building on the demigods and the general world that Bannen has created. The way that the author can take some simple romantic troupes and make them fresh again is amazing.

This series has given me 3 years of all the feels, and I will be forever grateful 🩷 Thank you Megan Bannen for a series that will always hold a very special place in my heart!

Hop in your nearest pistachio autoduck and get ready for:
• more gentle dragons!
• ✨️ lore ✨️
• daddy issues
• there's only... no beds?
• forced proximity!
• ghost vines that aren't ghost vines
• how many times can an immortal gal die in one month?

Welcome back to the quirky weirdness that is Eternity & Tanria! This book follows demigod and Tanrian marshall Rosie Fox and the stony genuis Adam Lee as they attempt to fix the malfunctioning portals to Tanria. As always, Penrose Duckers (Pen, Duckers, Penny-D) is along for the ride to bring the light and humor that everyone needs!

I will never ever be able to fully say how much I appreciate these books. Yes, they are silly and goofy! BUT they also give you a full range of emotions and are filled with a lot of exploration of death and dying and what that means for different people.

This was a great last tour of Tanria before the series closed out and you get to see how everyone we have met in Eternity has faired through the years... and all the happy endings in the world because we don't believe in romance without a happy ending.

As always, thanks to NetGalley and Orbit Books for providing an eARC of The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam in exchange for this honest review!

I can't believe I got an ARC of this ebook! Thank you to Orbit Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this one early. I fell in love with the world Megan created in The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and have loved all 3 stories that took place there. The characters were developed so well and I loved seeing Adam's personality shine through more as I read. Rosie was such a lovable FMC and I'm happy her story got told. The side character like Duckers and Zeddie really stood out as well. If you loved the other books in this series, you will definitely love this one! I can't wait to purchase this when it offically releases to add to my shelf.

This book is an absolute delight from start to finish. It is a cute, sweet and packed with just the right balance of charm and intrigue. The story pulls you in right away with its engaging plot and endearing characters.

One of the highlights is the mysterious plant that's quietly (or not so quietly) wreaking havoc- it adds a fun twist of suspense and keeps you turning pages to see what is happening next. As the mystery unfolds, we're given deeper insight into Rosie's past and some history of the Old and New Gods.

We're also introduced to Adam, who is the inventor of the portals, but also a grumpy pants. His dynamic with Rosie is heartwarming and fun, filled with banter and chemistry that really shines.

The book doesn’t shy away from personality either—there are some delightfully sassy characters that bring bursts of energy into the story, balanced by a touch of dry humor that made me smile more than once.

This book is an engaging read that blends sweet moments with a hint of mystery and plenty of personality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, character-driven adventure with a touch of sass!

Thank you NetGalley for the free book.

It feels like an ending and a goodbye, but a beautiful one. I have loved all three of the Hart and Mercy books, but this one felt different, it hit harder. Rosie and Adam, their story felt special and I loved both of them so much. Rosie with her lack of restraint and filter, and Adam with his dry humor and endearing quirks. And of course, you can never have enough Duckers. If this is truly the last of the Hart and Mercy series, it will have ended in the most perfect way possible.
