If I could give this book a bajillion stars, I would, but times that by a trillion. I am in absolute LOVE over the world that Megan Bannen has created. I thoroughly enjoyed that we got more world building on the demigods and the general world that Bannen has created. The way that the author can take some simple romantic troupes and make them fresh again is amazing.

Welcome back to the quirky weirdness that is Eternity & Tanria! This book follows demigod and Tanrian marshall Rosie Fox and the stony genuis Adam Lee as they attempt to fix the malfunctioning portals to Tanria. As always, Penrose Duckers (Pen, Duckers, Penny-D) is along for the ride to bring the light and humor that everyone needs!

I will never ever be able to fully say how much I appreciate these books. Yes, they are silly and goofy! BUT they also give you a full range of emotions and are filled with a lot of exploration of death and dying and what that means for different people.

This was a great last tour of Tanria before the series closed out and you get to see how everyone we have met in Eternity has faired through the years... and all the happy endings in the world because we don't believe in romance without a happy ending.

As always, thanks to NetGalley and Orbit Books for providing an eARC of The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam in exchange for this honest review!

I love this series so much and this has been the best book yet! Featuring Rosie Fox and the taciturn Dr. Adam Lee I was hooked from page one! I love how this series explores loneliness in all its different forms. So sad this is the last book in this series highly recommend and these covers are always 🔥 🔥 🔥

I can't believe I got an ARC of this ebook! Thank you to Orbit Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this one early. I fell in love with the world Megan created in The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and have loved all 3 stories that took place there. The characters were developed so well and I loved seeing Adam's personality shine through more as I read. Rosie was such a lovable FMC and I'm happy her story got told. The side character like Duckers and Zeddie really stood out as well. If you loved the other books in this series, you will definitely love this one! I can't wait to purchase this when it offically releases to add to my shelf.

This book is an absolute delight from start to finish. It is a cute, sweet and packed with just the right balance of charm and intrigue. The story pulls you in right away with its engaging plot and endearing characters.

One of the highlights is the mysterious plant that's quietly (or not so quietly) wreaking havoc- it adds a fun twist of suspense and keeps you turning pages to see what is happening next. As the mystery unfolds, we're given deeper insight into Rosie's past and some history of the Old and New Gods.

We're also introduced to Adam, who is the inventor of the portals, but also a grumpy pants. His dynamic with Rosie is heartwarming and fun, filled with banter and chemistry that really shines.

The book doesn’t shy away from personality either—there are some delightfully sassy characters that bring bursts of energy into the story, balanced by a touch of dry humor that made me smile more than once.

This book is an engaging read that blends sweet moments with a hint of mystery and plenty of personality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, character-driven adventure with a touch of sass!

Thank you NetGalley for the free book.

It feels like an ending and a goodbye, but a beautiful one. I have loved all three of the Hart and Mercy books, but this one felt different, it hit harder. Rosie and Adam, their story felt special and I loved both of them so much. Rosie with her lack of restraint and filter, and Adam with his dry humor and endearing quirks. And of course, you can never have enough Duckers. If this is truly the last of the Hart and Mercy series, it will have ended in the most perfect way possible.

Outside of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, I just haven't enjoyed any of this series. Maybe it's because Hart and Mercy followed a formatted You've Got Mail storyline. I dunno. But I've just been so bored with this book and the previous one.

There are a lot of things to appreciate with Rosie and Adam's dynamic, two of them being the reverse height difference and their mutual reverence for quality intimate wear. But I don't really know why they fell for each other, except their "like calls to like" connection.

But good God, Duckers, continued to drive me insane. I know everyone thinks he's endearing and he's definitely meant to be that kind of supporting character, but to me he's annoying. The worst third wheel. Like, can you leave? His and Rosie's dialogue reminded me of two 13-year-olds trying too hard to be cool on recess. Cringey.

Can't say I'm sad to say goodbye to this trilogy.

3.5 stars rounded up

The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is the third and final book in the Hart and Mercy series. This book follows demigod Rosie Fox, who has been patrolling Tanria for decades, but lately, the job has been losing its lustre. When Rosie dies (again) by electrocution (again) after poking around inside a portal choked with shadowy thorns only she can see, she feels stuck in the rut that is her unending life. Dr. Adam Lee, the portal inventor, must come in person to repair the damage. But, when all the portals break down, he declares an emergency evacuation of Tanria. In the mad rush to get out, Rosie and Adam end up trapped inside the Mist. Together.

This book had a ten year time jump from the previous book in the series, and it was so nice to see what the characters were getting up to, and how their families had expanded. I was happy to see the return of Zeddie, and I was of course thrilled to have plenty of Duckers (my favourite character!) whose banter with Rosie was great. I also loved seeing the dragons again, and learning more about the gods and the history of Tanria and Bushong.

However, I could not get behind the romance between Rosie and Adam. They had zero chemistry, and their relationship felt like insta love. As they were stuck together, there could have been several forced proximity situations to create tension, but there were unfortunately none. I liked Rosie well enough as a character, but Adam lacked personality, and I couldn’t connect to him.

The ending was sweet and hopeful, and I am sad to see this series end. Although this last book was slightly disappointing to me, I would still recommend this series for anyone looking for fantasy books that feels cosy, but still have exciting plots and emotional stakes.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love Megan Bannen's brain and world building. This third installment in the Tanria series focuses on the immortal and indomitable Rosie Fox and the mysterious Dr. Adam Lee. Tanria's portals are going haywire, there are strange shadows only Rosie seems to be able to see and the taciturn Dr. Lee knows more than he's letting on. We get to see our favorite characters from the past (including dragons) and there's a delightful B-plot that fans of the series will enjoy. Each book in this series deals with Loneliness but in different flavors. Hart & Mercy was loneliness due to lack of relationship/human connection, Frank & Twyla was about loneliness caused due to being invisible save for the role one plays in other's life. Rosie & Adam was about loneliness due to abandonment and loss - in Rosie's case, it's because when you're immortal, everyone eventually leaves you.
While I'm sad to be leaving this world with it dragons and mythology - it was a satisfactory end to a great series.

Megan Bannen has created such a whimsical and fun world in this series with characters you can't help but love. Hart and Mercy remain my favorite couple but Rosie and Adam have become a close second. Here we return to Tanria where things are going awry with the portals and in comes Adam, the creator of said portals to try and figure out what is going on. We see the return of past characters like Pen who is Rosie's partner now and who I also adore, and cameos from others like Twyla and Frank from the second book. I love Rosie's character, she is bold, funny and is not afraid to speak her mind. Adam is her opposite, more serious and quiet but you can tell how down bad they are for each other. This is one of the few stories where I don't mind how fast the couple fell for each other, they both have been through a lot and are just two soft cantaloupes that want to be loved. It is kinda sad to see this series end but at the same time I am exited to see what else will we get from the author, she has become an auto buy one for me. If you like light fantasy stories with quirky humor and charming characters please give this series a chance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit Books for this ARC, all opinions are my own.

What a fun read! I absolutely loved this series by Megan Bannen and this was the perfect way to end it. Thank you to Netgalley for this e-arc.

This may just be my favorite installment in the series. Rosie’s distinct and charming narrative voice pulled me in right from the start. Her relationship with Duckers was heartwarming and brought a sweet sense of levity, while the infamous intimates added an extra layer of fun to the story.

What truly made this book stand out was the emotional depth and complexity of Rosie and Adam’s relationship. The author beautifully explored the duality of their love—profound and enduring—while also posing a heartbreaking question: If the future stretches on forever in suffering, would you choose to end it out of love?

The Trickster was another standout character, bringing a complicated mix of chaos and empathy. I found myself relating to Rosie’s internal conflict and the layered, difficult relationship she had with him.

With its blend of humor, heartache, and philosophical questions, this book was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable ride. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys character-driven stories with a dash of magical realism and moral complexity.

Ok so I feel a tad disappointed with this book as I was just bored.. the plot was monotonous and the main characters had zero chemistry. Adam was very wooden and Rosie’s dialogue was cringey in places.

Duckers and Zeddie got their happy ending which I’m so glad for.

What a delightful read! The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam is a charming and heartfelt story that blends humor with real-life struggles in such a beautiful way. Megan Bannen captures the awkwardness and sweetness of relationships perfectly, while also exploring deeper themes of self-discovery and growth. The chemistry between Rosie and Adam is undeniable, and I couldn’t help but root for them the whole way through. A perfect book for anyone who loves smart, emotional romance with a touch of wit!

Thank you endlessly to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this e-arc!

I loved the Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, and I ADORED The Undermining of Twyla and Frank, and somehow my heart has grown 3x its size to make way for The Undercutting of Rose and Adam because this is my favorite book in the series now.

The world of Tanria is expanded so much more in this book, being back in this world feels like a warm hug. I love the pink grass and purple skies, the meeping dragons and the talking animals who deliver mail and sometimes commit mob crimes, they are all so special to me. Mary Georgina deserves the world.

Rosie and Adam's love story was wholesome and sweet. Like that feeling when you first develop a crush on someone and you want to be around them all the time and making them smile makes your heart race. Rosie is an immortal demi-god, tired of her life and constantly losing everyone she loves, the price that comes with immortality. Adam is the inventor of the portals to Tanria, and is sent to repair them when they start malfunctioning due to a mysterious vine growing inside of them. Rosie and Adam have to work together to fix the portals when they are trapped inside Tanria together, and boy do we love a forced proximity opposites attract romance.

I was also so happy for the return of Penny-D and Zeddie, and of course seeing Hart and Mercy and Twyla and Frank. You definitely need to read the first two books in the series to read this one, you don't get the full experience of all of these wonderful side characters without them, and they're fantastic books!

I am so sad to leave the world of Tanria, but this is a series I will definitely return to and reread over and over in the future. Megan Bannen is added to my auto-buy author list now and I cannot wait to see what worlds she creates next.

Firstly, I want to thank NetGalley, Megan Bannen, and Orbit/Hachette Book Group for getting to read this eCopy ARC of The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam. Having been a HUGE Stan of the first two books in this series and a Kansas City native myself (like the author) I was SOOO excited to get my hands on this.

Firstly, as Megan is excellent at doing, a lot of our old favorites make cameos in this book, like Mercy, Hart, Twyla, Frank, Mary Georgina (🐉), annnnd of course Penrose Duckers!!! Duckers has been a series staple, but him and Zeddie are almost a second set of main characters in this book, so get excited!

This story is SO fun, as it follows Rosie Fox whose immortality is discussed in the previous books of the series but someone we don’t get a ton of time with until this book. This book is STEEPED in the Old and New God lore, more so than ever before and takes place about 10 years after the other books in the series.

Rosie and Duckers are now partners and there is a huge problem that erupts with the portals into Tanria. In comes Dr. Lee (Adam) who is a pocket sized genius that’s easy on the eyes. Let’s just say there’s a plant-shaped mystery to solve and love blooms along the way.

The dragons play a fun role in this book and the toll of immortality does, as well. This is the sweetest story and may be a new favorite for me. Hart and Mercy are hard to beat for me, but Rosie and Adam may have done it or at least tied.

I love ALL three books in this series and Megan has knocked it out of the park again. Idk if we get more books in this world or series, but I sure hope so. Folks are going to eat this book up, when released. SO good. Can’t wait for everyone to meet the newest nimkilim either! He is awesome. He reminds me of the water buffalo from Zootopia who runs the Yoga shop, but is even cooler in his unique way (also not a water buffalo).

Thank you for the ARC. It was a privilege to read this treasure.

Rosie is an immortal demi-god who is tired of patrolling Tanria for decades and life in general really. Adam is the portal's creator and uptight and grumpy. They must work together when all the portals break down at once.

Another entertaining and charming book in his series. Love the first two books and this one is terrific too. I like that the characters aren't teenagers or adults who act like teenagers. Wonderfully fun and sweet. So much fun. Love the cameos by characters in the earlier books too.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

This series! All three books have been so much fun and I'm sad to see it come to a close, but so happy to have gotten Rosie and Adam's story! Rosie Fox is an immortal demi-god working as a Tanrian Marshall. When the portals to Tanria go on the fritz, Adam Lee, inventor of said portals, is called in to do repairs. When the repairs go awry and Rosie and Adam are stuck together, it becomes clear there is more to the inventor than meets the eye and they're going to need to work together to get out of this mess.

I know people were pulling for a Duckers/Zeddie book in this series, but I think there's just enough of their story in this book to make everyone happy! Rosie and Adam were, in my opinion, the stronger option to root this this book because there was so much to explore in their histories and characters. I can't wait to see what Megan Bannen does next, because I just know it's going to be a good time.

Even though the books in this series could probably be read as interconnected standalones, I highly recommend starting from the beginning to get the most out of the cameos and updates in this book!

Thank you so much to Orbit and NetGalley for the eARC and opportunity to provide an early review.
