This second book in the Ladies of Seduction series was a captivating, unique, and well written romance. This story was very engaging, with so many plot twists, dramas, deaths, betrayals, insecurities, secrets, a troubled childhood, suicide, and most of all, a lot of emotional issues that overshadowed everything. The sisterly bond was lovely. The passionate and steamy attraction was delicious, but it isn't everything a relationship needs to make it work. I enjoyed how the characters' emotional growth changed everything. I was delighted with love finding its way in the end. I absolutely adored Jack. The ending already had me needing to read the next book. I highly recommend reading!

A volatile marriage fraught with tension, but not without desire for one another, makes this a rather sad novel. I found it difficult to read the story due to the continual accusations and spats between the main characters. It takes one small incident in the greater scheme of things to bring them to their senses, forcing them to recognize the truth between them. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A very emotional historical romance that gives us two extremely volatile characters. Blazing passion can bring heartbreak as easily as lasting happiness if its not balanced.
Neither of our characters have had a happy life so far and have many difficulties to face.
The story goes back to the past occasionally to the things that caused the problems facing them in the present. Will they be able to save their marriage or is it doomed?
A steamy read that really shows us their characters hearts.
Very exciting.

There isn't any mystery or history in this story yet it doesn't lesson the overall impact. Pride goes before a fall is the bases for what takes place between Katherine and William, that and a series of poignant events that take two very stubborn people time to discern. So incredibly written it caused some heartfelt tears. Told through a past and present narrative, a truly moving story of deep love and commitment.

The Lady Courts A Marquess - Jillian Eaton
Book: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥(open door multiple scenes, very central to the romance)
Plot: 💫💫💫💫
World-Building: 🍁🍁🍁🍁
Description: 💐💐💐

I liked this book I feel like if you read the series and liked the one before this book is for you. I found the resolution very rushed and quite forced in how it came about.

The characters had great backstories and it was rather emotional for me about their lives and I got really invested I just couldn’t get over how they made up for me. The wor;d felt very involved especially with the links to the other characters and how nice it was to see the character development between them blossom. The romance just didn’t feel natural.

Would recommend to anyone who likes spicy historical romance with characters with traumatic backstories.

I received this book through NetGalley and voluntarily read it ALL opinions expressed are my own.

I wanted to resonate more with this book...

But Kitty and William are all about arguing or f-ing and no communication. They are both brittle, fragile, insecure people who do not talk to each other unless they are fighting. They have zero relationship skills but plenty of sizzle in the bedroom. I wish they both had break throughs on how to be better partners with common goals, but that was not to be in this particular book. But they did excel at being adversaries.

This is such a difficult review for me! I love Jillian Eaton, but this book wasn’t for me.
This is one of those stories that the message is loud and clear and I hear it with all my heart, but the massagers were hard to swallow. I was not a fan of Kitty. She was mean, petty and selfish. Her back story is really really hard and I can see why she is like that, but I couldn’t connect with her. William was easier to care for, but he frustrated me to no end.
Both of them acted like little children with secrets, hard feelings and resentment.
I adored Jack and the story is absolutely addictive. I read in one sitting. Give it a try, I’m sure that many people are going to enjoy a lot of things about this book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5 Stars
It was desire at first sight when Lady Katherine “Kitty” Holden and William Colborne, Earl of Radcliffe, met. The stars aligned in their favour for a brief, shining moment before tragedy struck and the heavens came crashing down. Now Kitty is desperate to escape her loveless marriage to William and she’s willing to do anything, even divorce, to free herself from the cold, handsome husband who refuses to let her go. William has never met a woman that infuriates him more than Kitty or makes his blood burn as hot.
I’m on the fence with this book, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. It was well written, the characters had some depth but I didn’t connect with them, I thought they were in lust but I couldn’t feel love between them. I found Kitty to be very shallow & I didn’t warm to her at all. I did like William but he was very much the strong silent type. I did love Jack & she saved the book
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

II enjoy a well done marriage in trouble trope and liked this one.

*miscommunication
*passion
*they’re fighting or f**king
*both MCs have demons

I didn’t really get Jack’s character - I would have enjoyed more of an actual story for her. As it was, it just never made sense to me.

I did like this otherwise and will read more of the author’s work.

Unfortunately, the storyline is weak. Essentially, they argue and have sex, and that's about it. The characters are very superficial, and it's unclear why Jack plays a role and why she was even included.

Their marriage is in trouble but then it started with neither of them being honest with each other. Kitty wants a divorce and through a return to the beginning of their relationship you find the reasons for their discord. Kitty doesn’t want a ghost in her marriage, is unhappy and despises the fact that she cannot resist William in the bedroom. Whilst William through his childhood experiences and guilt believes himself incapable of giving Kitty what she needs but refuses to let her go. A heavier book than most Regency romances but not too angst riddled and eventually with a HEA.

I started this review searching for synonyms of "miserable." Because everyone in this book is miserable, or, "wretchedly unhappy." Sorrowful, depressed, desolate. William and Kitty have a miserable marriage, told in miserable flashbacks. Kitty is vain and unlikeable while William is standoffish and considers himself unlovable. They both have horrible parents. Physical abuse, suicide, mental illness, murder, and suffering abound. Periodically they can't keep their hands off each other and then immediately go back to not speaking. Another spin would be two damaged people don't know how to open themselves to being loved.

My favorite trope in historical romance is the second chance at marriage, where I hope to see the couple making progress towards earning each other's love once again. However, in this book, I felt the focus was too much on reliving past problems rather than building a path to a HEA. The journey to rebuild their relationship felt pressed and not particularly joyful.

The instant desire between Lady Katherine "Kitty" Holden and William Colborne, Earl of Radcliffe, is evident from their first meeting. Their passion sizzles off the pages. However, when the past raises its ugly head, secrets threaten to extinguish the fire of their relationship, though never their passion. Kitty wants out of the marriage that is making them both miserable, but William refuses to grant her a divorce.

Despite the heavy focus on past troubles, I enjoyed the addition of Jack, the street urchin and Kitty's sister, Mara, who brought humor and love into the story. Overall, while the book was well-written, the structure detracted from my enjoyment. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am having a hard time reviewing this story. Jillian’s writing is always superb. I loved the first book in this series but this book fell short for me. I did not like Kitty. She was superficial but I did understand her feelings regarding William and her father. Willian on the other hand, even though he was hurting, he was a sweetheart. Also, I think the title does not match the story. There is very little courting if you can call it courting.

Such a steamy, twisted tale of two people with troubled pasts. Each has so many secrets they can't reveal that limit their belief that they deserve live. The story uses flashbacks to reveal the past and explain the pain they both feel in their troubled marriage. Bit by bit the reader learns their stories and wonders if they will be able to find their happily ever after.

William and Kitty have to fight for their happily ever after. A passion and emotion driven romance. I enjoyed the drama, secrets and passionate story.

This was well written. I did not personally care for it. I read a lot of this genre, and i don't mind an occasional sex scene. This story, however, had three explicit ones in the first thirty pages. I want more of a story.

This book left me feeling conflicted. On one hand, Jillian Eaton’s writing is undeniably strong, but on the other, the volatile relationship between the main characters made it a tough read. Kitty and William’s constant bickering and lack of emotional connection outside the bedroom were exhausting to follow. Instead of feeling romantic, their relationship felt more draining, and the frequent use of flashbacks did little to help build the emotional depth I was craving.

As a fan of "marriage in trouble" stories, this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The couple is already deeply unhappy from the start, which was a bit of a letdown. I much prefer watching couples navigate their journey to love rather than reading about an already strained relationship. While their path to reconciliation was rocky, it often felt more depressing than uplifting.

Jack and Mara provided some much-needed heart to the story, and I found myself wishing for more moments of Kitty and William actually communicating, like they did towards the end. A bit more emotional connection and courtship earlier on would have made a world of difference.

Despite my disappointment with the central romance, I can still appreciate Eaton’s talent as a writer. That's why I'm giving this book 1.5 ⭐.

I always enjoy Jillian's books, they're always a pleasure to read, but this one fell a bit short.
I didn't like either character, all they did was sleep together and fight, neither willing to cut the other some slack or try to bridge this gap that now exists in their relationship.
The resolution at the end felt super fake, and I honestly didn't see that great of a chemistry between them.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kitty has survived an abusive father. William has survived a reckless and uncaring father. Both scarred by their pasts, they attempt to accept more than just the passion between them. Neither is really sure what love looks like, but eventually they realize that is needed to make their marriage successful. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
