I received an E-Arc from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review! Thank you.
Isn't the cover pretty?
I'm so glad I read this cute rom com and adventurous story. I could not put this book down because the main characters, Noah and Sadie along with their D&D characters grabbed my attention the entire time. I had to know what was going to happen. Don't worry real life did poke at me to interrupt me.
FYI: I know what D&D is but I don't play it. I just knew I had to read this book because D&D and storytelling! It's epic. I still do not understand how the dice work. (Sorry!)
But I love the journey that Noah and Sadie go on. They both find what they are looking for. It's just a super sweet and fun read. I may have to add a physical copy of this book to my collection when it comes out in July.
Add this one on your to read list to try something sweet and unique!

Thank you Dell for the ARC! <3
While I don’t personally play D&D, I was totally enchanted by this story. It was easy to follow along, and I loved how the magical world of D&D was woven into the romantic plot. Sadie, burned out and laid off from the corporate world, moves from NYC to a small Texas town with her best friend. To pass the time, she joins their D&D campaign. That’s when she meets Noah, and as their characters Jaylie and Loren fall for each other in the game, Sadie finds herself slowly falling for Noah in real life too. Plus we love a lumberjack-esque man!
This book is a super cute rom-com with a unique and magical twist. It’s got all the cozy, feel good vibes I love, perfect mix of romantic storytelling with a bit of fantasy from the D&D story. The characters’ development was just so sweet, and I fell for Sadie and Noah's love story. The balance between the D&D world and their real lives kept me hooked, and I had the best time reading it!

I think I might not like DnD enough to truly enjoy this book as I got frustrated at how much DnD there was rather than the actual on-page romance. The characters felt a little too stereotypical and I just wanted more from this book.

As a D&D player I absolutely loved this book. It’s a fun and nerdy romance filled with sweet moments and amazing friendships. I really enjoyed experiencing the character development and blooming romance between Sadie and Noah’s characters, Jaylie and Loren during their gameplay and how that reflected their real life relationship.

"Roll for Romance" by Lenora Woods is a fun and heartwarming story that mixes romance with a bit of fantasy. After losing her job in New York, Sadie heads to Texas to stay with her best friend and ends up joining a Dungeons & Dragons group. There, she meets Noah, and their romance unfolds both in real life and through their D&D characters. The book does a great job of blending the real-world romance with the fantasy game, making it an enjoyable read. While it starts a bit slow, it picks up once the D&D sessions begin, adding a unique twist. Sadie's journey of finding herself and the sweet chemistry with Noah make this a feel-good story.

the book is just like the cover: cute, sweet, and adorable. this was a fun, quick romance read and i’m excited to see more by this author

This book was very cute, but I had a very hard time getting into it. It might be a “me problem” though as contemporary romance is very hit or miss for me. As a DnD nerd I was really hoping to be able to get into this more than I did.
I would still recommend this to others though.

This book was so stinking cute! I had such a good time and loved the back and forth between the story and the D&D campaign.

Roll For Romance by Lenora Woods
Sadie thought she had the dream job she always wanted in NYC, but then she looses it. When her best friend Liam offers her refuge at his home in Texas, she jumps at the chance for a small break from life in the big city…and finally says yes to playing Dungeons and Dragons with him after years of him offering and assuring her she will like it.
The table is comprised of new players like her, and Sadie feels drawn to Noah which is soon reflected in their characters, much to the tables delight. Through her character, Jaylee, Sadie learns things about herself and the life she wants, all she needs to do is roll for it. With advantage.
Watching Sadie and Noah fall for each other in their real lives and as their characters was so cute and so well done, my teeth were aching at the sweetness. Lenora does something that, honestly, can be tricky to pull off, and it’s telling a campaign in a way that’s part flowing story and part seeing the action at the table without it ever feeling jarring or too one of the other.
This book is perfect for readers who have never played dungeons and dragons a day in their LIFE (I’m 99% confident about this but as I do play this is a biased take lol), and also players who have played once or one hundred times or players who have been promoted to forever DMs. So basically anyone who likes to read in the romance genre. And even if you don’t and prefer fantasy instead. *slaps the book* this baby can fit so many genres in it (it’s two, but the meme)

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sadie is a corporate marketing consultant in NYC who is recently laid off and completely burnt out. She takes a break from the city and stays with her BFF, Liam, in Heller, Texas for the summer. Liam is a D&D DM and ropes Sadie into joining his group of all newbie D&D players, which includes Noah - a nomadic bartender/brewer who is also new to town.
The story then intertwines between Sadie and Noah’s budding friendship and romance with their D&D campaign.
The pacing was a bit slow in the beginning. Once the D&D gameplay started, I didn’t feel like the story did the best job in introducing the individual characters separate from their D&D characters, so I struggled with knowing who was who and who they were playing as. After maybe the third round of gameplay, I was able to keep up. It helped immensely when Sadie started to have interactions with the other players (other than Noah) outside of playing D&D. I do wish we got more interactions with the players outside of the game. They were all so interesting and I wanted to know more.
As a fantasy book girlie, I found myself more invested in the D&D storyline than the main romantic plot. This may be due, in part, to my overall feelings that Sadie and Noah just aren’t a great match. They certainly had potential, but I didn’t really connect to them together or feel a fire between them - but certainly did with their D&D characters!
That being said, I did enjoy Sadie’s overall arc of finding her own path and doing what makes her happy instead of what is expected.
The D&D plot line ends on a cliffhanger and the epilogue introduces what could make for a good pairing for book two. If the author chose to continue the story, I would for sure pick it up!

I absolutely adored Roll for Romance! This book had everything I love—sweet and swoony romance, lovable characters, and just the right amount of nerdy charm. The chemistry between the main characters was perfection, and I loved how their relationship developed so naturally. The D&D elements were woven in so well, making the story feel extra fun and unique. If you’re looking for a feel-good romance with heart, humor, and a dash of adventure, this one is a must-read!

Thank you to Random House - Ballantine and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of Roll for Romance by Lenora Woods.
Sadie loses her marking job in New York which is what brings her to small-town Texas where her best friend is. Her best friend has a weekly Dungeons & Dragons campaign which Sadie joins. This is where she meets Noah and the two start falling for each other.
I so enjoyed Sadie and Noah and this story is so fun. I have basic knowledge of D&D which was helpful while reading the book. One of my favorite aspects of the book was how it would switch between the story and the story within the D&D campaign. It’s such a fun way to combine contemporary romance and romantasy in one story. I also really appreciated Sadie’s story, where she is in life and what led her to leave New York.
If you enjoy a small town romance and D&D then you should check out this book!

A quick read romance perfect for dnd and romance fans. There is a bit of smut not not overly done. This is one sweet book.

This was a cute read! I don't know much about Dungeons & Dragons. Luckily, that was not the sole focus of the book. I like that this was a book about someone just trying to find there place in the world. I thought the romance was cute. There was nothing life changing about this book. But it was a fun cute read. I am interested in reading more books by this author.
Thank you, Lenora Woods, Dell Romance, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. This comes out on July 15.

This romance was just okay for me. The D&D twist brought a lot of fun to the book. But honestly the female character came of daft and self absorbed at times. I didn’t totally dislike the book but wish there were more rom-com vibes outside the board game
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. A solid 3 star read

As someone who is just beginning to delve into D&D, I am obsessed with Roll for Romance! I loved how the characters in-game story was interwoven with the main storyline. It was so unique and executed perfectly. If you’re looking for a cozy and nerdy, Roll for Romance is perfect for you!

For this review, I receieved an E-ARC through NetGalley. Thank you!
What happens when a small town romance meets a the excitement and pure joy of a group of new D&D nerds learning the game? Roll for Romance by Lenora Woods, that's what!
This story follows Sadie as she moves briefly to Texas to live with her best friend while she figures out where to take her life next. Part of that transitional period is joining her best friend's new D&D campaign for new players - which includes the charming and effortlessly handsome Noah as the campaign's bard, Loren. The chemistry is immediate, but the burn is just slow enough to feel satisfying, without dragging the burn on for ages. Woods has found a beautiful balance of it being "just right." This is a story wherein both the FMC and MMC are both genuinely relatable and likable, which is no small feat for an author to make you understand them so thoroughly, yet giving them enough flaws to feel real. Similarly, I can say the very same about the cast of characters for the story's campaign. Woods does a phenomenal job of fleshing them all out enough to make them feel more than one note side pieces both in and out of game. The fact that I came away caring about all the major players says something about the skill of the author; it's rare that I want the best for ALL characters in a story, not just our leads.
Something I didn't anticipate was that the story is both told from Sadie's point of view as she navigates finding herself in a world after leaving life in New York City AND in gameplay, from Jaylie's point of view as she adventures off with the rest of her party to seek what they promised to return from the man who hired them. It was so unique to read the real world and then flip a page and find myself nestled neatly back into the fantasy. Often in books, when D&D is mentioned, it is an afterthought, a way to suggest that "haha, these people are dorks" and leave it at that. But Woods shows that D&D is for everyone, from all walks of life, and all skill levels.
My hope is that this can introduce the game to those who didn't know that it's not just nerds who enjoy it - although, we certainly do - but that it can be enjoyed by anyone willing to give themselves into fantasy and fun, And dice, so many pairs of dice. I truly hope Woods continues the story for this cohort of friends - both in and out of character!

This was a really a cute and unique read. In all honesty it took me a lot longer to get through as I typically exclusively read via audiobooks. I thought telling the romance along side the DND campaign was such an interesting idea. I loved how real these characters felt, it was like dropping by a friends house and getting to seamlessly intertwine with a new group of people. I will definitely check this one out again in audiobook form when I can!

Oh my goodness this book was so cute and so much fun to read! I honestly don’t know much about DND but my nephew helped me out with a few things. This book was so sweet

As someone who had never dabbled in DND, I absolutely loved this story.
Did I have to google an absurd amount of things to make sure I knew what was going on?
Yes, thanks aphantasia. 🙄
BUT, this was such a good time I don't even care about that!
Sadie and Noah are such a good fit for each other, they actually remind me a lot of my own spouse and I.
It's a slow burn and the slow was slowing, but when it got to burning, it was BURNING UP.
I really really enjoyed the book within a book aspect, where LW actually wrote the DND game like its own fantasy novel instead of just writing dialogue between the tabletop players.
It's cozy with a hint of intrigue and a plot that keeps you coming back for more.
Thanks to NetGalley and Lenora Woods for the ARC!
