Did you read Nita Prose’s The Maid, The Mystery Guest, and The Mistletoe Mystery? Then you’ll love The Maid’s Secret. It lives up to the hype of the previous books and is a fitting end to the series.
If you haven’t read the previous books, what are you waiting for?!

This was ok - and although at first I was enjoying Grandma’s story, it just felt like it dragged on - also seemed very predictable. The fun in the first two books was having Molly solve the mystery… this book was just cheesy and really all the answers were in grandma’s diary …

When the Regency Grand is taken over by the reality television show Hidden Treasures, Molly finds herself bringing in items for appraisal. She discovers that she is in possession of an artifact worth millions, and instantly becomes a TV sensation. It is not long before the artifact vanishes into thin air and we welcome back our favourite detective to lead the case.
We dive into Molly’s late Gran’s world through her diary entries. We explore the love and losses along the way. With alternating chapters of past and present, the story kept us on our toes. How will Gran’s past connect with the case at hand?
I loved every second of this book. If you’re a fan of Molly, you will enjoy the third instalment. I have the biggest smile on my face after finishing this one. A cozy mystery that will keep you turning the page AND warm your heart. Prose actually brought a tear to my eye at the end of this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Nita Prose has sone it again! I love reading about Molly and her group of friends and family. It was so nice to learn more about Gran's past, too. Well done.

This is book three in the Maid series and we find all is well at the Regency Grand. Molly has been promoted but she remains indubitably Molly.
The characters; Mr Preston, Juan, Mr Snow, Detective Stark, Angela, the other maid's are well rounded and have continued to grow and flourish.
This novel's format deviated from the previous novels by the author's use of dividing the storyline between Molly and her gran in alternate chapters. I think Prose managed this technique with skill. The two storylines were easy to follow. I found that knowing more about gran's life clarifed some of the decisions she had made in the previous novels.
All in all, I enjoyed this book. It flowed well and kept me interested. Thank you to Penquin /Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

The Maid's Secret is the last instalment in the series about Molly the Maid and I wish it wasn't going to end.
I absolutely loved this book and cried happy tears at the ending which was Molly and Juan's wedding along with all her friends and family.
The mystery involves some trinkets that Molly brings to the taping of a TV show, "Hidden Treasures" which is being taped at the Regency Grand Hotel. Lo and behold, her life is thrown into shambles when she discovers that the Faberge egg that belonged to her beloved Gran is actually worth millions. The egg is stolen and Detective Stark and all the staff at the Regency Grand begin a hunt for this valuable piece of art.
Along the way, we read from Gran's diary her whole backstory and how this egg came to be in her possession.
While some people may feel it detracts from Molly's story, I felt that it enhanced it and made the whole meaning of Molly and her life more interesting.
While I am sad that I no longer will be able to read about Molly and her antics with her Regency Grand family, I was left feeling satisfied with the ending. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC and in return I am leaving my honest review.

Advanced Book Review! Thank you @penguinrandomca and @netgalley for sending me this book for review. Opinions are mine.
“When a daring art heist takes place at the Regency Grand, Molly’s life is threatened. The question is who’s out to get her, and why?”
I was so excited to see another Maid novel. I really enjoy being in Molly’s world at the Regency Grand Hotel and with rest of the staff. I loved the first novel where we get to meet Molly and all the characters, but The Maid’s Secret might be my new favourite of the series. I think the holiday novella from last year provided the opportunity for Molly’s personal life to move forward enough that when we start The Maid’s Secret, we find Molly in a new stage, ready take the next step in her relationship with Juan Manuel.
This time, Molly is caught up in a mystery that is more personal than ever, and the book flips back and forth between Molly’s present and her grandmother’s past as told to Molly through a diary she left behind.
I love the Antiques Roadshow type plot with Molly bringing a few of her Gran’s things to be appraised live on TV by a pair of famous art appraisers. I think we had a sense from the previous books that Molly had an object of value that she wasn’t aware of, and this proves it. Overnight, Molly’s life turns upside down as she goes from rags-to-riches in the public eye. But when the priceless item is stolen right out from under her, and Molly’s life is threatened, she teams up again with her friend Detective Stark and her allies at the Regency Grand, and turns to her Gran’s diary for answers.
With each book, we see Molly’s character continue to grow, and in this one, she’s more sure of herself than ever. I appreciated how this book deepened Molly’s backstory and one of the things I loved most is that Molly isn’t just solving another crime; she’s also uncovering truths about herself.
I’m not sure if Nita Prose is planning to write more books about Molly, but if she does, I’ll definitely be reading them. Molly’s world keeps expanding and I’d love to see what’s next for her.

Received an ARC via NetGalley; with thanks to the author and publisher.
The latest adventures of Molly the Maid gives a substantial look into her familial history, in a way that still allows for the solving of a contemporary mystery. The resolution of some aspects keeps the flow going, without denying the genealogical arc to continue for the next segment.
The main plot line retains the balance between feasible and incredible, as Molly and Juan face yet another highly unlikely scenario that requires their immediate attention. Obviously the crime is all solved with a nice and neat bow prior to the last chapter of the book (and the next chapter of the characters’ lives.

I’ve been a fan of Molly the Maid since book 1, and was excited to read this. Molly needing to find a missing heirloom, mixed in with a fictional Antiques Roadshow sounded like the perfect recipe for a cozy Molly mystery.
I am not, however, the biggest fan of dual timelines, so the alternating chapters with Gran’s diary were less inviting. I loved the Maid books for Molly’s voice, and there wasn’t enough of it in this instalment.
3.5*, rounded up.

Thank you to NetGalley, Nita Prose and Penguin Random House Canada for providing me a digital copy of this story in exchange for my honest review.
This is the third installment in the 'Molly the Maid' series and while I don't know this for a fact, it reads like it might be the last. Told through alternating chapters, we catch up with Molly and Juan Manual as they prepare for their upcoming wedding and also learn more about Molly's beloved grandmother through her diary entries. There is so much that Molly does not know about her Gran's story and this book fills in most of those gaps.
It wouldn't be a Molly story however without a crime to solve. When Molly brings a few of her Gran's treasured objects to be assessed by celebrity art appraisers, she is shocked to learn that one of them is extremely valuable. As she prepares to auction off the valuable item, it suddenly goes missing in the middle of a live broadcast. As Molly learns more about her Gran's past, the mystery of who stole the priceless treasure and her Gran's connection to it converge.
I love the character of Molly Gray. Her neurodivergence gives her a directness that is refreshing and as a solver of mysteries, she is one of my favourite amateur sleuths. The first book in the series was fabulous but the second felt like a bit of a rerun in my opinion and I wasn't sure that I wanted to continue on with the series. I am so glad that I gave it another try!
This book is published in April and if you enjoy a cozy mystery with a poignant backstory and an unconventional sleuth, I highly recommend you pick this up.

Thanks to Net Galley and Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC of The Maid’s Secret. A dual timeline. It was nice to meet Flora (Molly’s Gran) through her diary, as it helped fill in the story of the Gray family. There is always something going on at the Grand, and this time it involved a Faberge egg. A whimsical story with some great characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for permitting me to read the ARC of The Maid's Secret. The publication date is set for April 8/2025. I have enjoyed the first two books about Molly the Maid by Nita Prose, plus the novella The Mistletoe Mystery. These books focus on the adorable, quirky Molly, Head Maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. She delights in her work, keeping all rooms neat and sparkly clean and polished to perfection. She now has the additional title of Special Events Manager. She and Juan are deliriously happy as their wedding is approaching in two months.
We don't see or hear as much from Molly in this book, and her quirkiness seems reduced. Some readers have been disappointed that an additional story shortens the drama surrounding Molly. Much time is spent on the story of Gran's early life, as derived from her diary. Gran imparted many famous sayings about life and love to Molly. Her wit and wisdom influenced Molly to be kind and positive, which is how Molly reacted to any situation. I enjoyed Gran's early story.
Born into privilege, Gran adopted her parent's snobbishness, looking down on anyone considered 'lower class.' When her parents were threatened with losing their wealth and position in society, a way out was a merger with the man responsible for their potential loss by having Gran (Flora) marry his son to establish a business deal. Flora reluctantly agreed but broke her engagement to follow her heart with a man they considered below their high standards. Her true love is a man who is a great friend to Molly.
A popular TV show by art appraisers Brown and Bragle will film live at the Regency Grand Hotel. Molly brings a shoebox full of Gran's old items and trinkets to be appraised. Much to everyone's shock and surprise, one of Molly's items is a much sought-after treasure worth millions. She and Juan decide to auction it and imagine what they can purchase in the future. Following a multi-million dollar offer, they are shocked and dismayed to find their treasure has been stolen. This does not affect their love and excitement over their upcoming wedding ceremony, which must be plain and simple. Meantime, Molly has become a media darling, with fans and reporters clamouring for her attention. This makes her extremely uncomfortable. Worse, notes are threatening her life.
Many people try to help Molly by protecting her and finding out who is responsible for the daring heist. Molly believes that clues may be found in Gran's diary. This can be read as a standalone, and fans of Molly the Maid should not miss it. 3.5 stars.

This book came along just at the right time. I greatly enjoy Molly Gray, as her character deeply resonates with me as well and her adventures are fun as she always finds herself caught up in some high-stakes crime. The writing blends a clever whodunnit with a romantic journey of love as Molly learns of her Gran`s past while trying to solve the crime with the help of her colleagues and friends. The dual timeline helps keep the reader engaged and enjoy this heartfelt story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada (Adult) | Viking for this ARC. This is my honest review.

I am so sorry Molly the Maid but this one just didn’t do it for me. I honestly had little interest in anything that happened in this story. Finding out about Gran’s past was a little interesting but the pace of this one was too slow. 2.5 stars rounded to 3
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the DRC of The Maid’s Secret. All opinions in this review are my own.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for a free copy of this ARC and the opportunity to express my views.
The third installment in the delightful Molly (I’m just a maid’) series finds the intrepid main character at her beloved job at the Regency Grand Hotel, where she is now working as an events manager, but keeping her head maid role as well. She is grieving the passing of her beloved Gran, who was her only true family. But she has her recently found grandfather around for loving support, as well as her wonderful fiancé, the chef Juan Manuel. They share Gran’s modest apartment, Molly’s only home, and plan to marry soon.
Their peaceful lives turn upside down when the Regency Grand hosts an episode of a wildly popular ‘Antiques Roadshow’ type of TV show, hosted by a male couple who are meant to be superbly entertaining, if stereotypically over-the-top. Molly brings an item she inherited from Gran that she had always jokingly called ‘the Faberge egg’ for assessment. Unbelievably , it is exactly that, and worth millions. For all that they need the money, Molly and Juan Manuel would prefer to avoid the sudden non-stop public scrutiny their new fame and fortune brings. And then the egg disappears and the mystery (finally) unfolds.
There are elements of this story that I loved, notably the writing and character development, with all the old familiar characters on the scene, as well as a few intriguing new ones. It has some truly funny moments and some truly poignant ones as well. When it’s focussed on the title character, it zips along. But this volume, unlike the others, has a dual timeline in which Molly’s present alternates with Gran’s past in the form of letters that Gran had left for Molly, along with the ‘key to my heart’ that would open the box containing them after her death.
I usually love dual timelines but this one did not work for me.
The letters have Gran recount, in detail and somewhat repetitiously, an origin story that reveals the wealth, status and snobbery of her parents. Molly knew nothing about Gran’s background, which she managed to hide impressively. Briefly, we (and Molly) learn how Gran fell from grace and was left earning her way as a maid, and ultimately raising her abandoned granddaughter to follow her footsteps. This part seems to be a pretty typical ‘poor little rich girl’ story and just doesn’t fit the image of Gran that was built up over two volumes, in which none of it is ever alluded to. We do discover why the impoverished Gran had a genuine Faberge in her possession. Even the writing style strikes me as odd. Gran was writing as an elderly woman in contemporary times. The youthful years she describes are the 1950s-1960s. Yet she writes in a florid, overblown way better suited to the Victorian Romantics a century before. This books isn’t really about the maid’s secret, it’s about Gran’s secret.
When the focus returns to the question of who stole the Faberge, and why, Molly again returns to center stage and puts her sleuthing skills to effective use. As usual, the Grand Regency staff help immeasurably, bringing a rather disappointing Molly story to a good conclusion and what is a fitting ending to the Molly mystery series. She will be missed.

This book was such a fun read I loved it! If you've been following Molly the Maid this book is the next in the series but if you're new to the Maid's secret you won't feel lost. Molly's character is endearing I want to hug her. I recommend this a fun read you won't be disappointed

This was a bittersweet read for me. I have been a big fan of the maid so for this to be the final novel I was sad. I really enjoyed part 3 of the maid series. I loved learning more about Gram’s story and Grand- dad’s story. This was my favourite part of this novel. I always laugh the novel mixes Molly with the current day. This was a really good engaging read.

Thoughts
This book was part Mystery part origin story. Through Grans (Floras) diary and a Dual POV and timeline we learn about how the egg came to be in Mollys possession and who might be responsible for the heist, we also learn more about who Gran was. I think I preferred Mollys storyline more to Gran’s diary entry’s -which felt like a romance story- but these were essential to the overall plot.
Overall
This is a Quick cozy read filled with the fun puns, humour, and friendship readers have come to expect and love from the series.
A perfect ending to Molly’s tale but I did wonder if maybe Angela’s was beginning???
Thanks to the publisher, @netgalley and the author for my digital ARC in return for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own.

Molly the MAiD is a delightful and quirky character who is easy to get behind and cheer for. Nina Prose has done a lovely job of crafting 3 Molly tales that make for enjoyable reads. They are not overly challenging or gripping in anyway but rather cozy reads that you will be happy you engaged with. This third tale does not disappoint and grants its reader what we have come to expect - a warm hearted read with a satisfying conclusion. Curl up in a cozy space and get on board with Molly’s latest adventure. Thank you Nina Prose, Penguin Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars out of 5
The latest addition to the heartwarming "Maid" series by Nita Prose is here, and it's every bit as good as we have come to expect from the author.
Molly the Maid is back and is unknowingly in posession of a priceless artifact. When it goes missing, will they find out who is to blame? Will she and her long-time love Juan finally get to tie the knot? Told in a dual-narrative format set in both present day and in the past as we find out more about Molly's beloved gran, I loved both narratives equally and only hoped for the happy ending that we have come to anticipate when reading about Molly the Maid. I'm grateful for the time that we got to spend with the quirky Molly and all of her supporting characters and I look forward to reading whatever Nita Prose comes up with next.
