In this book continuing the Purgatory series we have Connor protecting the late Senators daughter Chloe, however things never go simply in these kinds of stories.

Chloe hates her father, a man that subjected her to all sorts of tests and probing after she was attacked by werewolves when she was 16. A life that she hated although she never really knew what the man was up to.

Connor is a hybrid, half werewolf and half vampire and is very dangerous, he does not let his beast out completely to play anymore as it is so dangerous. But there is something about Chloe. Something that brings out another side of him and something he has to protect no matter what. She also connects with his about things he could never imagine.

Chloe is sick of being afraid and starts to stand up for herself and those she cares about, Connor is one of those and Chloe shows more of a backbone in this book.

I really enjoyed this instalment and at the end it certainly sets up nicely for the start of the next book for Eric and Ella, the female vampire they rescue.

I didn't care for the heroine much, I thought she was too childish and besides the weird scent thing she didn't really have anything going for her.
