I was cleaning out my kindle and stumbled across this book. I remember when it came out, really wanting to read it, but I must have somehow let it slip through the cracks. I'm so glad I found it! It was really good!

Joss and Matt meet when they are in college and decide to have a friend with benefits type of relationship, which only occurs when one of them breaks up with someone. They refer to it as sorbet (to cleanse the palate). They continue this relationship for 7 years and eventually Joss realizes she is in love with Matt, but she's not sure if Matt feels the same way.

Definitely pick this one up!

This just wasn't for me. A butt load of flashbacks of them getting it on because a relationship/hook up didn't work out and then 7 years later they decide they have the feels. And when they do finally get together we don't even really get to see it. That's not romantic, it's just kinda boring.

According to goodreads I read this book in February 2015 but for whatever reason I never reviewed it....although judging from my reactions as I read it I didn't like it very much so that might be why i didn't review it. Negative reviews are sometimes harder to write then positive ones. All I know is I rated it 2 stars.

For some reason, the friends-to-lover trope is usually too angsty for me (no clue why; I'm a nerd!), but this one was light-hearted and fun. I liked the disjointed, back-and-forth narrative style because it capitalized on the pair's chemistry and underscored their friendship.

For a movie comparison, think (loosely) No Strings Attached, 2011.

I really should have known that a book that centers pretty much ONLY around 7 years of sex and rebound sex would not be my thing, but I've loved every Ellie Cahill book that I've read so far. It was important to me that I start reading her backlist. If I had read this synopsis from any other author I would have not given it a chance. I guess that's what I should have done in this case.

If you're looking for a quick, fun read When Joss Met Matt is the one. Fantastically cliché, brilliant characters and fun banter. I've reread it several times already!

This is my first book by this author. And to say I loved it is very mild. I fell in love with the story. Even the sorbet part. I kind of figured it out what would happen at the end, but I still enjoyed it. This author knows how to make it dramatic and keep you interested. The sorbet part was so dramatic and I really enjoyed it because I have not read any book that has something like that in it. I cannot wait to read her other books. And see what surprises are in store for those. But this story gets an A+ to me. It kept me focused and I enjoyed it immensely. I really truly enjoyed it.

Jocelyn is a college student who recently got her heart broken. She is taking the worst decisions ever, well they aren’t so bad but you get the picture, right?

Matt is a college student too, he is a nice guy, maybe too nice for Jocelyn’s taste. He has bad lucky in love departament too.

One fine night Joss and Mat had a great idea, start a sorbet sex. What the hell is that?

A really good version of friends with benefits thing. They’re going to be like a bridge between bad relationships you know? The sorbet has the intention of clean the bad taste or vibes.

Eight wonderful, sexy years later, one of them, maybe, want to break the pact.

My Impressions

I really really enjoyed this book. I can’t even put my finger in something wrong about ir. Really!

Love was knowing someone, truly knowing him, and still wanting to be with him . Love was caring so much about another person that you willingly put his needs before your own. Love was sharing passion, history, trust. All of that, plus a fearless belief that life is better with your love than without. That everything that comes next will be made easier, happier, richer by his inclusion

Joss and Matt are pretty fascinating characters, they portrayed very well the college years and experiences. I liked both. I did laugh out loud with their adventures and nonsenses. My heart ached when Matt was sad (can’t tell you why) and I felt sooo relatable with Joss’ feelings and concerns.

I smiled, glad not to know his answer and glad he didn’t know mine. I’d been honest about one thing: I didn’t believe I’d had the best sex of my life yet. I never wanted to achieve that mark, because everything after would pale in comparison. I wanted someone who would set a personal best as often as possible, and constantly compete to outdo himself.

The storyline is so good. The author tells the story between flashbacks and present moments, but all of them are so necessary for understand them. They become in adults together and it’s remarkable the way of their relationship`develops.

1. Romance does not equal love.
2. Princes are usually spoiled brats.
3. Chemistry is a requirement.
4. Guilt is no reason to stay with anyone.
5. If a minor flaw feels like a deal-breaker early on, it’s only going to get worse

This is the first NA Book of the author and in spite she doesn’t write really hot scenes it isn’t boring you know? This only proves you can read an awesome NA story without too much sex on it.

One thing was clear: romance does not equal trust, caring, and a healthy relationship. So, it seemed to me the next step was to find someone who was none of those things
