After finishing the Audiobook for When I Disappear, I can't wait to hear more from this author. The narrator of this audiobook did a great job with the flow and distinguishing voices for the different characters.
The interesting dynamic between Sylvia, whose mother was murdered 20 years ago and Rhett the man convicted of doing it is an interesting one. There were several times that I thought I knew where this story was going, but then it took un unexpected turn leaving saying "what?" out loud!
I am a big fan of Frieda McFadden and when this book was compared to her books I knew I needed to have a listen.
The only part I didn't care for was the pause between chapters while listening - however this could have been caused by my app. However it didn't stop me from staying tuned all the way to the end finishing the book in 2 days time. I would recommend this book to McFadden fans - with all the twists and turns.

The story was interesting. Although I guessed the plot twist, the story was decent enough to listen til the end.

Amanda McKinney crafts an atmospheric mystery filled with tension as Sylvia Stone is forced to confront the past she thought she understood. The pacing is strong, and the twists keep you engaged, though some moments feel a bit predictable. Still, the emotional depth of the characters and the eerie small-town setting add layers to the intrigue.

This book had a really interesting storyline. I enjoyed the pace of it and the twists. Tha audio was amazing too! Def reccomend for your next thriller read! 🪟

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
Amanda McKinney's "When I Disappear" is a chilling audio experience.
Narrated with intensity by Elise Roth, this psychological thriller is a masterclass in suspense.
From the first chilling whisper to the final, breath-stealing twist, Roth's narration perfectly captures the paranoia and dread that permeates the story.
Her voice, by turns seductive and menacing, draws the listener deep into the protagonist's mind, making the descent into madness feel eerily real.
McKinney masterfully crafts a story that twists and turns with each passing chapter, keeping the listener constantly off-guard. The plot unfolds at a breakneck pace, leaving little room to breathe as the protagonist grapples with a terrifying conspiracy that threatens to unravel her life.
"When I Disappear" is a poignant exploration of identity, trust, and the fragility of sanity. McKinney's characters are complex and compelling, their motivations shrouded in mystery. Roth's nuanced performance brings these characters to life, making their struggles and fears deeply relatable.
"When I Disappear" is a must-listen for fans of psychological thrillers.

Sylvia Stone wakes at 2:00 a.m. to find an anonymous letter suggesting that Rhett Cohen, the man convicted of her mother’s murder 20 years ago, is innocent. As more letters arrive, revealing details only the real killer would know, Sylvia begins to doubt her past testimony. When Rhett is released from prison, a final letter warns, "You’re next," and Sylvia vanishes.
I will be getting a physical/e-copy of this book to reread as the narrator made it difficult to get fully invested into the story, and I'm sure I missed key parts of the story. The story was an interesting concept, but the flatness of the narrator made it difficult to follow.

I enjoyed the narrators for this audiobook. I was able to distinguish who they were throughout the book.
Very captivating storyline and it kept me engaged the entire time! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book or listening to it I should say!
Well done!

I got about 60% through this one and was done. Story seemed to just keep going in circles without much progress. Unfortunately, this one was not for me.

This is the first book that I have read by @amandamckinneyauthor but I will be diving into her backlist soon!
When I Disappear is Amanda’s newest novel and it is a twisty, page turner! The thriller follows main character, Sylvia whose mother was murdered twenty years prior. As the convicted murderer is coming up on parole, Sylvia begins to receive threats. Was the wrong man convicted or will his parole mean that she is his next victim?!
I highly recommend the audiobook version of this novel. It is well narrated and kept my attention! I just wanted to keep listening to find out what would happen next. The ending completely surprised me!

Loved the ending of this and the way it kept me
Guessing throughout. Great narration. Sylvia had me
Fooled !

solid 3.5- voted up.
Very decent thriller with a twist end. Anyone wo knows me knows I usually hate the ending. NOT WITH THIS ONE. Very good thriller- became a little predictable... but not in a bad way.

'He spent twenty years in prison; she spent twenty years living a lie..."
Was definitely hooked from start to finish, & genuinely didn't expect that plot twist.

When I Disappear by Amanda McKinney and narrated by Elise Roth was a gripping psychological thriller that was packed with brilliant twist and turns throughout that will have you gripped from the beginning till the very end.
"He spent twenty years in prison. She spent twenty years living a lie."
At 2:00 a.m. Sylvia Stone awakens to a letter on her doorstep suggesting the handsome carpenter, Rhett Cohen, who was convicted of murdering her mother twenty years earlier, is innocent. The anonymous letters continue, each one revealing details only the true killer would know, making Sylvia question her testimony years ago.
But as Rhett is released from prison, the fourth and final letter arrives with one chilling message: You’re next.
Then Sylvia disappears.
You may think you know how this story ends. . . . . . . . . . Think again.
WoW. . . . . . . I really enjoyed this book and the ending was excellent
One thing I loved about this book it had short chapters which I found great and it did not drag when you were reading or listening it to this audiobook.
The narrated by Elise Roth was excellent and great voice for When I disappear.
I highly recommend this audiobook.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing me with this ARC.

Oh my dear! this was one just to my taste!
Sylvia Stone's mother was murdered long time ago. Now Rhett Cohen, who was convicted of the crime is about to be released again.
Things turn crazy when nonymous letters arrive claiming that Rhett wasn't the killer at all.
And to top it up: Rhett arrives at Silvia's doorstep after twenty years!
This was twisted and I didn't see the final conclusion coming at all!
Elise Roth did a great performance in narrating this audiobook!
Thank you #NetGalley #Dreamscape Select and Storm Publishing for this advanced audiobook

This was my first book by Amanda McKinney and I enjoyed it.
Rhett Cohen was recently released from prison for a murder he says he did not commit. He is determined to find the real killer. Fast paced with many twists and turns, right up to a jaw dropping ending. Loved it!

When I Disappear was previously released as The Stone Secret. Fast paced with short chapters, this psychological thriller was a wild ride with clever twists.

When I Disappear starts off with an intriguing premise—Sylvia Stone gets letters suggesting the man convicted of her mother’s murder, Rhett Cohen, is innocent. As more letters arrive, revealing details only the real killer could know, Sylvia begins questioning everything she once believed. It’s a twisty psychological thriller with a lot of potential, and while it definitely keeps you turning the pages, I found myself a little mixed by the end.
On the plus side, the writing is fast-paced, and there are plenty of moments that made me want to keep reading. But, the story veers a little too much into "too many twists" territory, where it feels like things are being thrown at you to shock, even when it doesn’t always make sense.
The characters, especially Sylvia, didn’t always feel as fleshed out as I’d hoped, and I ended up struggling with some of their motivations. I saw the final twist coming from a mile away, and while it was fun to read, I felt like it was trying a bit too hard to be mind-blowing. Still, it’s a decent read for fans of dark thrillers, even if it doesn’t totally nail the landing.
I really enjoyed the narration; I think it added a lot to my reading experience. Definitely recommend listening to this one on audio.

A big thank you to Netgalley, Amanda McKinney, and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook. Narrated brilliantly by Elise Roth, this was an incredible listen! The story took me on an emotional rollercoaster—what initially seemed like a tale of forbidden love quickly transformed into a bit of a cringy crush, and by the end, my mind was reeling and my jaw dropped! Definitely a must-read!

Admittedly the first 35% of the book I was a bit lukewarm but I pressed on and I’m so glad I did. The action picked up and trying to figure out all the different aspects was fun and engaging. But the cherry on the cake was the ending as while I figured it out, it was satisfying!
The narrator Elise Roth did a good job handling all the different characters although they tended to be subtle in their differences at times.
If you’re a thriller lover this is one to put on your TBR as it’s chock full of subplots that you want to see resolved.
I am thankful to have gotten the ALC for free from Dreamscape Select and Storm Publishing through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

I’m going to have to agree with the blurb for “When I Disappear” - if you’re a fan of Freida and Jeneva’s work, this one is certainly for you. It’s fast-paced, easy to digest, and... predictable. The multiple POVs were a nice touch, but it would’ve been great if each one had a different narrator to really bring the audio to life. It’s the kind of audiobook that you can casually listen to while doing something else, but don’t expect any shocking twists or deep revelations.
