Having recently read Marc Reisner's "Cadillac Desert" for the first time, water is on my mind. I have been looking to develop our library's young adult nonfiction collection, and took a peek at Stuart Kallen's "Running Dry" in hopes of finding an accessible take on this subject for young adults. And I found it! This is a beautifully designed and printed book, with beautifully glossy images as well as detailed and thorough information suitable for teens writing reports on this subject. The lexile level may make it less digestible for middle schoolers. Unfortunately, our library has since backtracked on developing its nonfiction collections for junior and young adult readers in respect to subjects on the environment, but such are the times.
