This is a beautifully illustrated picture book. The illustrations are so colorful and detailed, definitely our favorite part. The words share the story of climate change and the effects on the planet. There wasn’t really a plot or true story line, just the lyrics of a song over and over. The end of the book shows chords for the song in case you’d like to play and hear how it’s actually written. Climate change books aren’t always my favorite, so this was the same. I’m all about saving the planet, it’s just hard to write that into a children’s book that is enjoyable.

A great book to introduce and include children in the environmental movement. The book includes a music score to sing the anthem that gave its name to the book, and a pdf online explains in more detail what kids can do to help the climate movement at their own scale.

This book encourages children to join the climate movement in their own scale, and shows concerned children they aren't alone. It shows them how to connect with nature and their community

The book also shows a wide variety of people of all ages and skin colours, including native people and mobility aids users.

A supplemental pdf gives resources and ideas to support the climate movement at their own scale

This picture book is a beautiful and engaging introduction to climate change for young children. The story is set to the lyrical song "The Tide Is Rising" by Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman and Yotam Schacter, and the illustrations are bright, multicultural-focused, and dynamic to look at. The message of the book is clear and important: we must all work together to protect our planet.

I recommend this book to parents and educators of young children. It is a valuable resource for teaching children about climate change and inspiring them to take action.

Multicultural, interfaith, and hopeful. This is a story based on a song that emphasizes our interconnectedness through the environment, faith, and activism. I love the song and lyrics, and will enjoy reading this to my children. My current choice of resistance is through reading, and this book is a gentle resistance that takes an important stand.

The Tide Is Rising, So Are We is an important book about peaceful protest and using one's voice to communicate about climate change. It is our individual responsibility to demand changes locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. The message was loud and clear with a sweet song about what we must do for our fellow man and creatures that inhabit our earth. The illustrations are bright a colorful, conveying clear messages about our role in society. This is an important picture book for not only children but adults as well.

"The Tide Is Rising, So Are We" is a moving book for kids and people of all ages. Rabbi Shoshana empowers the reader through her movement song, and Kiki Kita helps us imagine a better world and future. My 4yo and I love this book!

This is an excellent picture book about the hope present in climate activism. It would be appropriate for kindergartners and older (the content is absolutely fine for younger children, but they may not be ready for the length/amount of words on each page). The illustrations by Kiki Kita are lovely. There are diverse representations across all the illustrations, including the representation of people of different religions. The illustrations will give readers a lot to stop, notice, and talk about.

The rhyming text is pleasant to read and will keep listeners engaged. The text conveys the importance of working together to respond to what the earth is telling us, that it needs us to pay attention and respond to the climate crisis. The text is also full of hope.

The author's note at the end of the book would be great to read with children after reading the book. Knowing about the climate crisis can be scary, but it's important for children (and adults!) to realize that this (and other struggles) is not something we can or should face on our own; there's a whole community of people doing work that they (we) can plug into and there's hope! This is what the author's note gets across.

I LOVED this book, this would be a great share during women's history month, Earth day, and really any day given the times we live in. The book flows so well. It is easy to create the melody as you read it.

This caught my eye as a progressive children’s book. I loved the illustrations and the message of inclusivity and climate justice. I didn’t know the author is a rabbi, how cool.

This is a phenomenal book for kids and families that want to make a difference when it comes to climate change and protecting our world. The emphasis on community and a movement helps to remove some of the anxieties around being one person and wanting to make a difference. I absolutely loved the illustrations- the pictures were colorful, meaningful, and full of diverse people. I also did not know when I picked this up that the author is Autistic.

As an Autistic person concerned for our world and wanting to teach my child about how we are a part of a a bigger movement, I will definitely be reading this with her!

I was not familiar with the song this book is based on, but I love how the song and the book make it so easy to tie faith into climate justice work. Because we see the earth as a holy gift from God, fighting to protect it is holy work. The pictures show a lot of different ways to participate in activism. In my experience, kids care a lot about taking care of the earth, so books like this always resonate. One thing I have been thinking about is that it is helpful to support kids in raising their voices while also letting them find what is important to them. We talk about the many injustices of the world and how they are intertwined. It is important also to note that we cannot fight everything all the time. This book makes a point of showcasing the joy and power of picking one topic to focus on and also linking with others to stand for that topic. A good message for our kiddos (and for all of us).

Dramatic illustrations of climate tragedies, grassroot protests, and visions of what the world could be with climate action illuminate the words of Friedman's song. I would recommend this for young readers and families looking for a book about the power of people-led movements.

Please note that the text against dark colored illustrations is extremely hard to read.

i think this is great for 1st graders to understand the climate changes and seeing people not only take care of our world (the usual books depict recycling etc.) but to have voices and stand up for what matters
the pictures are beautiful and captivating
my daughter in preschool kept repeating 'the tide is rising and so are we' when i read it to her but it did go over her head.. i think first grades would be the perfect audience as it depicts current events

This book is a call to all environmentalists who care about our earth. The book is a celebration of the song "The Tide is Rising" by Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman. Words from the song are used throughout the book to encourage all of us that "The Tide is Rising, and so are we. And this is where we are called to be." This book reminds us that the planet is speaking to us, and we should listen. Using the link to the song found at the end of the book is a great way to bring the book and the song together. Beautiful, vibrant illustrations add to the important message that is shared throughout the book.

Honest yet hopeful, The Tide Is Rising, So Are We! serves as a great introduction to the climate movement for kiddos. With vibrant illustrations throughout, this book helps the reader to not only visualize our world as a whole, but to see the many changes - good and bad - happening as a result of the climate crisis. It's not too dire or stressful, but also not too sugarcoated. Perhaps most importantly, it beautifully shows the power of many against seemingly insurmountable (at first!) odds.
