Sweet, charming, and full of heart! This small-town romance is a feel-good read with lovable characters and witty banter. Jenny Proctor nails the friends-to-lovers vibe with warmth and sincerity.

I have loved the Appies series, and I think this book was a great way to finish it. This book has the “best-friends, brother” trope but it felt a little different from the usual version and I liked that (no more details to avoid spoilers). I really loved Alec’s character; he is such a responsible, caring individual and there was nothing about him I didn’t like. Evie’s story is very heavily focused on being a single mom. I felt like she was very level-headed in her decision making and focus on changing her trajectory. Alec and Evie had very good dialogue and everything about their relationship felt very real and honest. There are plenty of appearances from other Appies, and their ladies, throughout the book which was great and some fun new characters that made the story even better. Again, a great ending to the series, highly recommend all six books romance lovers! Thank you NetGalley for the copy of this book.

If this is really the Ending of the Appies, I want it! But if it is not, it was still a Great ending! I mean the Captain and Evie, what more is there to not want! All the Appies all the family members the couples the children the neighbors! I mean literally everything about this whole series was chefs kiss! And even if I don't want them to end this was a great(maybe)ending! 😉😁

I think this is my third sweater weather novel and now I need to read the rest of the series! It’s still ‘sweater weather’ where I live, so maybe I can squeeze it in 😉
I really enjoyed this book. Loved the slow burn, still loving the hockey theme and small town vibe.
This story centres around hockey-pro, Alec and his sister’s best friend, Evie. She’s moved to town with her young baby and finds herself crashing at Alec’s house after she finds her rental flooded. With Evie being recently divorced, the unexpected chemistry between the new roommates is a tricky predicament to be in.
As we head into hockey playoff season, this is the perfect book to add to your list! 📚

Loved it I was in need for a sweet and serious romance and this one didn't disappoint. I loved the characters and their dynamic, I loved how they handled their problems, and I have to admit, every woman would want an Alex in her life :).
Big thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an e-copy of a book in exchange of my honest opinion.

Easily one of the best Appies books yet. The way Proctor portrays motherhood here with Evie, being a freshly postpartum, breast-feeding mom, newly divorced and trying to figure it out is such a beautiful picture of what real life looks like. And Alec enters her orbit, and their lives intersect, sparks fly, and the chemistry leaps off the page.

You are always rooting for the characters in a romcom to get together, but sometimes you have to wait a long time. This book towed the line of will they/won't they contrasted with you enjoying them being in a relationship so beautifully. Plus the tension they have to go through, that third act conflict, makes sense for where these two people are in their lives.

I loved this book. I love the Appies series. It is definitely a series I will go back to if I need the perfect little snack of a romcom to read. Could not love this series more.
_____
Content Note from the Author: This story contains themes of divorce and single parenthood; it includes a narcissistic ex-husband, mentions of past emotional abuse, and candid conversations about pregnancy and breastfeeding. Also, there’s kissing. Lots and lots of kissing.

This is a closed door, kisses only rom com. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.

Thanks to the author for the gifted book. All opinions are my own.

I really don’t have words to say other than: ADORABLE. SWOON. I LOVED IT! Before I even read Jenny’s books, I know it’ll be a five-star read. She’s just that good!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Jenny Proctor for the opportunity to read this novel. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Jenny has done it again! The perfect cozy, sweet romance series to settle down with. Evie is all set to move in when disaster strikes, luckily her best friends pro hockey star brother lets her in when times are tough.
Alec & Evies story is the perfect ending to this series, we get a well round story of chapters closing, finding happiness in our new reality and a love that so deep you can’t help but giggle and kick your feet. The entire set of characters will warm your heart, the chemistry, the absolute swoon worthy book boyfriends and character development is unmatched while still being closed door to gather a large audience of readers.

When Alec Met Evie by Jenny Proctor is #6 in the Appies series, but also works well as a standalone book.

This book is told from a dual point of view between Alex and Evie.

Shortly after her 4 month old daughter, Juno is born, Evie sees her dream job in North Carolina. Recently divorced she decides to go for it, even though she doesn't know anyone there. Well except for Alex which is her best friend's older brother. She rented a house, but due to unforeseen circumstances she is left without a place to stay. Thankfully Alec steps up and offers her a place to stay.

Evie has countless reasons why starting a new relationship would not be a good idea. For one, Alec is her best friend's much older brother. She has a 4 month old daughter who barely leaves time for herself and three, she is recently divorced. But Alec feels like home and is doing all the right things, does age matter when it comes to matters of the heart?

This is the first book in this series and I cannot wait to read the rest. I would say about a 1 on the spice level but it was a great book just the same. Special thank you to Jenny Proctor for working with NetGalley. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I love hockey romance and this one was delightful. Best friend’s brother and forced proximity are two tropes that were well done in this story. This is the last book in a series, I didn’t know that and this is the only book I’ve read, I can say this can definitely be read as a standalone. I definitely recommend this fun read.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author Jenny Proctor and the publishers for letting me read this advanced copy along with letting me review it. This is a four star hockey romance read that is the last novel in the Appies book series.
Evie moves to a new small town called Harvest Hollow being newly single she's hoping for a fresh start for herself and her daughter Juno. Her brother also lives in this which enters Alec her brothers best friend and the male main character.. Evie ends up living with Alec who plays hockey and is a cinnamon roll. This is a cute love story

“I follow after her, keenly aware that for the first time, this too-big house full of furniture I didn’t buy feels a lot like home.”

The last in the Appies Hockey Series. I was so excited to receive an arc of this one! The Appies is a series of closed door hockey romances - perfect for anyone who wants to read sweet romcom esque sports romance. Each book centres around a different member of the team - this one is Alecs story.

Up till this point I think Van’s story was my favourite - but Alec was such an interesting character I couldn’t wait to read his book! As the title suggests, this book focuses on Evie and Alec. Evie is a recently divorced single mom and Alec is her best friend’s older brother - who also happens to be her childhood crush. When she moves to town and her house floods before she can even move in, she moves in with Alec - as he’s the only person she knows there and he insists that’s what he’d do for his sister (that’s what she’s like to him). However, forced proximity always reveals chemistry - which is tricky when she’s still recovering after her divorce and she doesn’t know Alec’s stance on being a father, when she’s been warned he’s not the type to settle down. Can she avoid heartbreak?

Alec is the ‘older’ guy on the team, feels out of place with the single rookies when all his friends are settling down. He’s at a crossroads, struggling with an injury and not knowing what his future holds.

Evie is divorced with a 4 month old baby and has some trust issues after the way she was treated by her ex. When she compares Alec to Devon and it just highlights how self centred her ex was.

When old crushes emerge and new feelings kickstart - Alec must consider whether a hockey career is his only route for the future, and Evie must decide whether she’s ready to let someone into her heart again.

I was so invested in their relationship! The fact she moved in and made his house more of a home. The fact that he was so good with Juno! They just made the cutest little family 🥺 I just really liked this book - by far my favourite one of the series!

The Appies are one of my favorite series and this book, the final one in the series, may be my new favorite. Evie moves to Harvest Hollow with her four month old daughter Juno, for an apprenticeship. After discovering a huge water leak in the rental she is supposed to live in, Alec, her best friends older brother, tells her to come stay at his house while it is fixed. As they spend time together, Alec realizes that despite their nine year age gap, he really likes Evie and also really enjoys Juno, although he's never been around a baby before. I loved seeing the growth of their relationship and the personal growth of each character. The last couple chapters had me tearing up. 100% recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

This author is new to me, but I will be keeping an eye out for anything else they publish. I loved the story and the characters. The pacing of the story was great and the characters were relatable.

Evie is a divorced single mother to a four-month-old Juno. A job opportunity brings her back to Harvest Hallow. Her best friend ask her brother, Alec, to help Evie move into her rental house. Unfortunately, at the day of the move she discovers that her new home has been flooded. Alec proposes that Evie and Juno stay at his place while the other house gets repaired.

I mean, what an adorable story! Like every single book in this series, that is sadly coming to an end with this one.

The relationship between Alec and Evie is just so sweet. It felt so real, so down-to-earth. Its progression felt natural. Even with a close door aspect of the romance, it's not at all lacking any tension and chemistry. It's so swoon worthy. They are just meant for each other, what can I say.

And gosh, both of their character developments! Evie is trying to find herself in this new situation, with a recent divorce, an infant, going back to work. I feel a lot of moms will relate to it! Plus, Alec's struggles with hockey. All so well represented.

And don't even get me started on Alec and Juno 😍

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. This was a sweet romance book with nicely developed characters. I'm a bigger fan of a good storyline, versus heavy romance. I would be very comfortable recommending this to patrons.

I love this series and seeing the other characters from the other books in this series. They are both pretty much the ultimate book boyfriend and girlfriend as individuals but together, they’re magic. I loved their fresh and fun romance.

When Alec Met Evie by Jenny Proctor is the kind of book that wraps around you like a cozy blanket on a chilly afternoon—warm, comforting, and utterly delightful. It’s a swoon-worthy, slow-burn romance with just the right amount of heart, humor, and charm to keep you turning the pages with a smile on your face.

Alec and Evie’s story is the perfect blend of fate and timing, with their connection feeling both natural and electric. Their chemistry? Absolutely undeniable. Their banter? Top-tier. Proctor masterfully builds their relationship with depth and authenticity, making every interaction between them feel meaningful and real.

One of the things I loved most about this book was how well it balanced sweet romance with genuine emotional depth. Alec and Evie aren’t just falling in love; they’re growing, learning, and navigating life’s unexpected turns together. Their journey is filled with heartfelt moments, a touch of angst, and enough swoon-worthy scenes to make any romance lover’s heart race.

If you love clean romance with compelling characters, witty dialogue, and a love story that makes you believe in serendipity, When Alec Met Evie is an absolute must-read. Jenny Proctor has a way of making you feel every flutter, every stolen glance, and every heartfelt confession.

Highly recommend for fans of wholesome, feel-good romance with a dash of fate!

Evie and her infant daughter move to the South to a mountain town where her best friend's brother, Alec, plays semi-professional hockey for the Appies. Alec's sister offers his help to move them in, and a water leak leads to him inviting them to move into his house temporarily. The tension sizzles as Alec recognizes Evie as a grown up now, and the attraction is strong. Can Evie open her heart to love again? Can Alec get to know her without scaring her away? And could Evie love Alec even if his career is near its end? Loved this one, highly recommend!
