A Fresh Start for the Country Nurse introduces us to Lara, a district nurse from Liverpool who requested transfer to the country after a traumatic event.
Lara struggles to deal with starting off on the wrong foot in a tight-knit community, all while overcoming her a bad relationship and a crash that left her with both physical and emotional scars.
This book features delightful world-building, and Kate Eastham brings a remarkable level of real-life experience to the medical happenings and struggles of each character.
This is a delightful world, and I would love to get to know it better in future books.

Laura Flynn leaves Liverpool desperate for a new start. She takes the job of district nurse in the village of Ingleside.
She has an idyllic scene in her head of what that entails but is soon brought down to earth with a crash when she realises it’s not what she was expecting.
She faces the ire of the village when they think she’s not up to her job and she has a tough time getting them onside. She’s hoping the community in time will stop seeing her as a city girl but the brilliant nurse that some of the families know that she is.
Brilliant start to what seems to be a fantastic series. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

What a refreshing read! When nurse Lara Flynn decides to relocate from the city to a country village to escape painful memories, it doesn’t quite live up to the picture that she has in mind. The senior doctor comes across as gruff, younger dr Angus Fitzwilliam as carefree and the other nurse Marion Wright as happy & friendly. The housekeeper Mrs Hewitt at first seems stern, but it’s soon evident that she mothers & cares for them all. The biggest problem Lara has is that she has big shoes to fill as her predecessor nurse Beecham appears to have been liked and trusted by all. Lara starts to win them round on her first day of visits when she attends her first birth, although her second is slightly different from the norm.
Will she settle in to the country living?
Such a true to life look at village life, certainly the one I live in. When I moved here from the city I was told “you may not know anyone but rest assured they all know who you are”, this was evident in the book. I enjoyed the way Mrs Hewitt cared for them all. My favourite character was mr Makepeace, he had a lovely thing to say to Lara no matter how he was feeling. Least favourite was Vic Taylor, just a bully.

In this book we follow Lara a City nurse , wanting a New start on life. And how she is trying to fit in at a rural tight knit community. I loved the Main characters, and i fell in love with the rurale community, with all their quirks, opinions and strength. Some you Will love with all your heart, sime you Will dislike with all your heart. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to netgalley.com for letting me tesd this e arc, my opinion is my own

After an unexpected heartbreak and a nasty accident on a busy Liverpool street, Lara Flynn is desperate to start afresh and leave painful memories behind her. She takes on a new job as a district nurse and midwife at a country practice, in the remote Lancashire village of Ingleside.....
A Fresh Start for the Country Nurse was the breath of wholesome fresh air I had been searching for all summer - it was like sitting down with a cup of tea and an old friend. I loved the characters, the medical setting and the historical accuracy. Little snippets of drama, Lara trying to settle in to a small town and a possible love interest. Can't fault it.
Great for fans of Downton Abbey or Call the Midwife.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm new to this author and am looking forward to reading more in this series. This is a well developed story with each of the characters being distinct and most of them likeable. If you enjoy UK countryside books that are humorous and yet have a dark part to them, this is the book for you.

A fantastic start for this new series. Lara has moved from Liverpool to begin her new post as a country nurse. She has many obstacles to overcome due to the local community not wanting to accept a city girl. As time go on, she becomes accepted and is proud to work in and amongst the local people. Can’t wait for the new chapter.

I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. It did have similarities to All Creature Great and Small, but enough was different that I still liked it. I liked Lara, and how she kept on going through her .adversities. I will be looking forward to the next book in the series. Finding out that the author had been a nurse and midwife, convinced me she knows of what she writes. Definitely. recommend!

Noooooo it finished I didn't want it to.
It's so good.
Makes you proud of our district nurses back then.
They where good and strong when needed and sweet and kind as well.
Omgosh when the accident happened my heart was in my mouth but I'm glad that both are ok.
The housekeeper sounds amazing like everyones mum Angus is kinda pushing his luck though.
Thank you thank you for a brilliant book.
