Zomromcom follows Edie, who jumps in to save her human neighbor during a sudden zombie breach, only to find out he’s actually a grumpy, centuries-old vampire named Max. He insists on keeping her safe in his bunker, but Edie refuses to sit back while others are in danger. As they work together to stop a sinister plot behind the zombie attacks, they find unexpected allies and even more unexpected feelings. Amid all the chaos, Edie and Max’s connection grows, forcing them to face whether love is worth the risk in such a dangerous world. This was such a good book and kept me engaged the whole way through. It was a super cute romance with a fun and different setting that made it so entertaining to read. So fun!

I always enjoy Olivia Dade’s romances, and this is no exception! It’s an action-packed zombie-slaying romance, and Dade does a great job of combining the supernatural horror and romcom elements to make an engaging story. Definitely be aware that there are lots of zombies, and a fare amount of danger and gore, so it’s not going to be for everyone. But Dade is so good at crafting romances, I could totally buy into Edie and her handsome and seemingly vapid neighbor falling for one another once they get thrust into a very scary zombie attack.
The book has a satisfying ending, while also giving us a good sett up for the next in the series — I’m definitely looking forward to it! Recommended for fans of paranormal romance, as well as those new to the genre.

The thing I love about every Olivia Dade book is the authenticity. You can tell she has fun writing and really loves every book she writes. With this one in particular, it was such a fun, campy ode to paranormal romance. I think Dade managed to throw together just about every single paranormal romance trope in one big I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-falafel melting pot, which might not be everybody’s jam, but I loved it. I do think the quirkiness of the characters might have been a bit much at times- fighting off zombies with a burrito, hiding out from zombies in an abandoned pottery barn, the main character frequently bursts into song to tease the love interest, and the love interest has an underground batcave-esque lair. It can be a lot, but that’s part of the fun. The plot and action scenes were a bit choppy, but I really admire Dade for her ambitiousness with her first paranormal romance, and I’m looking forward to a potential sequel! Grateful to Olivia Dade & NetGalley for the eARC!

I couldn't get past the writing style. I really wanted to enjoy this book, I just couldn't get into it.

ZomRomCom by Olivia Dade is a fun, silly, and cozy paranormal romcom that leans all the way into its title. Right from the first chapter, you’re dropped into a post–zombie apocalypse world and introduced to Edie—a burrito-wielding pacifist who accidentally saves her super-bro-y neighbor “Chad” from a zombie attack. What follows is an unlikely team-up as Edie enlists Chad’s help to warn other zones about a potential zombie breakthrough.
The banter between Edie and Chad is hilarious and brings a lot of levity to a plot that, on paper, is all about saving people from a zombie invasion. Their dynamic plays with a quasi-grumpy-meets-sunshine trope, and I was definitely into it. We love an elder vamp who wants nothing more than to protect their human obsession— hello Edward Cullen vibes!
Edie and the zany supporting cast of supernatural characters were easily my favorite part. The plot gets increasingly ridiculous in the best way possible, and the world-building is totally vibes-based, but for a fluffy paranormal romcom, that worked for me. You just have to be ready to go along for the ride and not take it too seriously. Also, based on the ending, I think this will be a series, which is fun!
Overall, this was a fun read, even if it wasn’t a personal favorite. If you’re new to Olivia Dade’s work, I highly recommend checking out her Spoiler Alert series. I'm obsessed with all three of the FMCs in those books! I think what Olivia Dade does best is mix romance with nerdiness, so if you're into that, you'll love her writing.
Thank you to Netgalley and Berkeley Publishing for the Advanced reader copy!

This book was, in a word, just plain fun. I didn't know what to expect with a PNR from an author widely known and loved for her contemporary romances but this was, in typical Olivia Dade fashion, witty and fun, engaging and joyful and imbued with her trademark warmth and humor even as it made some pretty interesting social commentary regarding a fictional world filled with supernatural beings that felt oddly parallel to our real world.
I adored the two MCs, Edie had a really traumatic backstory and was desperate to find meaning in her parents' sacrifice, not realizing that she herself was the meaning and reason and legacy. And Max, er, Gaston, or Chad, whatever he chooses to go by, was truly one of a kind, an egotistical vampire with a secret soft heart that solely beat for Edie. I adored their banter and romance and the way they were all too willing to put themselves repeatedly in harms way to protect the other.
I really enjoyed the world Olivia built in this first book and the cast of characters she introduced and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds in the next book.

She brought a burrito to a zombie fight.
He brought three centuries of repressed desire.
Together?
Apocalypse’s hottest disaster duo.
Zomromcom is undead perfection—sharp, steamy, and laugh-out-loud funny. Olivia Dade delivers a delightfully unhinged paranormal romance that balances laugh-out-loud moments with emotional depth and sizzling open-door chemistry.
Edie is the ultimate heroine: plus-size, prickly, and full of chaotic heart, while Max (a.k.a. Gaston, a.k.a. Chad) is a brooding vampire who’s equal parts lethal and lovesick. From tablecloth cuddles in abandoned malls to lye-based zombie traps and blood-soaked sacrifices, this book is a wild, romantic ride.
If Warm Bodies and Spoiler Alert had a very spicy baby raised by What We Do in the Shadows, it would be Zomromcom. I need book two yesterday.

✨ Review ✨ Zomromcom by Olivia Dade
Thanks to Berkley and #netgalley for the gifted advanced copy/ies of this book!
This was such a delightfully fun, campy zombie-vampire adventure. I laughed so much - Edie’s processed foods, Max’s modeling clothes, the many iterations of the Gaston song - so ridiculously funny and unserious!
The story centers on Edie and her neighbor Max ("Gaston") and their attempts to flee from a zombie breech and seek help. It was a little long and meandering, but I still loved it all. To top it off, in classic Dade fashion, she provides us with an epic plus-size FMC, and Edie’s the plus-size loveable zombie-hunter of my dreams.
If you love paranormal romance that doesn't take itself too seriously, give this one a whirl!

Thank you, Netgalley and Berkley Publishing, for the chance to read and go on this fun ah adventure.
There was so much going on and so much happening. In a good way. This kept me thoroughly entertained.
First: PLUS SIZE FMC FTW. I love reading about fmcs that are my size. 😊
The banter in this was excellent, IMO. I loved the silliness and the back and forth between the two. After all...NO...ONE...(*Max screeching in the background*).
This world is...different. It seems confusing at first, but things get explained as you read, and things make more sense as you go.
The plot was a fun mix of things. Apocalypse, Supernatural, Action, Romance, Comedy, even a little Found Family.
And Edie and Max's romance? I fell in love with them. I want to be their third, that's how much I love them.

From the moment the burrito-wielding heroine launches herself at an attacking zombie, this steamy speculative rom com delivers! The banter sparkles, the sexy blood-drinking sizzles, and the grounded character motivations keep this novel as relatable and resonant as Dade's non-speculative work. The open ending that hints at a sequel is icing on the cake. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a hilariously spicy fall read!

Read This Book If…Shaun of the Dead is your favorite movie!

Zomromcom by Olivia Date
Genre: paranormal romance
Series: Supernatural Entanglements # 1
Spice Level: 4/5🌶, 3-4 explicit scenes
Setting: compound in Northern Virginia
POV: single, 3rd person, past tense
Tropes: grumpy/sunshine, hurt/comfort
My Thoughts:
This was a fun, if forgettable, read!
The world-building was interesting (but a little overwhelming) and there was some great rep throughout. I really enjoyed the FMC being a little older (38) as well as plus-sized.
Our sunshine soap-maker and grumpy vampire neighbor made for quite the duo! I liked their banter and silliness, but the romantic relationship felt like it came out of nowhere. The steamy scenes were great, though!
Overall, this was very silly and a little cringey, with only a little emotional depth.
Memorable Quote: “When I finally get inside you, you’ll burn me alive, my Edie.” “And you’ll thank me for it.”
Thank you to the publisher for my advance copy!

This book was just so much fun! Our heroine, Evie attempts to save her gym-bro neighbor from an zombie attack believing he can't defend himself, only to find out that he is a lethal vampire who is more than able to defend himself. He also has the nerve to get angry at Evie for attempting to save him (admittedly, throwing a burrito at a charging zombie, is not super effective, but it was all she had at the moment). The duo then sets out to try to figure out why the zombies were released from their prison and how to save their neighbors from attack. Evie and Max's banter and chemistry were excellent and the book was overall just a really enjoyable read.

This book was a huge surprise - Olivia Dade is one talented author. She injected humour, romance and spice into a zombie apocalypse. This book was funny, sweet, laugh out loud good. The continual Gaston puns were elite. I would say it’s quite a long read in parts, but overall very enjoyable.

I have read of all of Olivia Dade's contemporary romances, so I was really looking forward to this one. I had zero idea what to expect from a zombie book, but the supernatural beings was definitely a surprise. I think some parts were realistic such as having zones of containment and so on. However, I had a hard time believing certain parts (that I will not explain due to spoilers). I did enjoy the development of the romance, even though there were some parts such as the car in the river that were really gross. I can't wait to get a copy to add to my shelves.

No one slays like Gaston… Zombies? ✔. Romcom? ✔. Puns? ✔✔✔
Edie keeps us going with a fantastic intro featuring quite the nonsensical weapon while she's trying to save her hot neighbor Gaston/Max wearing an equally nonsensical outfit from brain-eating zombies. Prepare to giggle, chuckle, and gasp your way through this one.
For a humorous take on the post-apocalyptic tale, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Some parts felt a little tedious buuuut most of it was quite a fun read filled with silly moments and a bit of tension around the characters' building relationship. The banter was really cute and I definitely would read more written in this zombie-verse!
What I enjoyed:
- The banter and witty retorts.
- The characters' interactions with each other.
- It was different from most zombie books since it revolved around the romcom aspects.
- The romance was predictable in a good way, light and fluffy. You kind of knew what to expect.
- Decently smutty without taking away from the plot!
4/5 stars. I didn't expect all the other supernatural guest involvement, and I liked it, but at times it felt like they were being introduced without a good reason or just to add fluff to the story. Maybe there's some future reasoning to that?! Overall, it's a cute romcom with some gore included! Perfect for the fantasy reader that doesn't want to read straight horror.
Thanks to Netgalley, Berkley Publishing Group, and Olivia Dade for sending me an ARC of Zomromcom in exchange for an honest review.

If we just focused on the Gaston puns: A+
I've enjoyed Dade's romances in the past and was really excited for this dive into the supernatural, but it almost felt a little too campy for me. The world building almost felt silly? Not quite fleshed out? I honestly just wanted the book to take place in his zombie shelter while the world happened around them. I think it was riding the line between romance and an action/adventure and needed to tip one way or the other.
I still think this would be a fun read for those who like cozy fantasy. That's just not me, as much as I keep trying.

This rom-com is a wildly entertaining surprise, set in the most unexpected containment zone. Somehow, amid the chaos and undead drama(trauma?), the Olivia Dade manages to deliver a hilarious, heartwarming, love story that had me laughing out loud! The quirky characters and perfect blend of romance and zombie-infested mayhem makes this such a fun read. The book has it all - humor, heart, and a healthy dose of the unexpected

Post-apocalyptic books, romance or not, always make me hesitate, but this being an Olivia Dade book, I knew I had to read it. She hasn't let me down yet! I am so glad I gave this one a go, because despite the zombie apocalypse of it all, it was still infused with plenty of romance, humour, and most importantly hope. What a delight. I can't wait to see more from this world!

Only Olivia Dade could make zombies, vampires, and an apocalypse bunker feel like the start of a swoony, hilarious love story. ZomRomCom is exactly what it promises: laugh-out-loud funny, a little bloody, and unexpectedly tender in the middle of all the mayhem. Edie is the kind of character you instantly root for—big-hearted, brave, and absolutely determined to help people, even in the middle of a zombie outbreak. And Max? He’s her grumpy vampire neighbor (yes, his name is actually Gaston), and somehow he’s both intimidating and kind of a softie, with a stash of snacks and a ridiculously big sword. Their dynamic is hilarious and a little chaotic in the best way, and even with all the zombie mayhem, their connection really sneaks up on you. It’s funny, weirdly cozy, and way more emotional than I expected. Honestly, it’s the perfect mix of romance, action, and just enough heart to make you care between all the undead nonsense.

I am not positive what I was expecting from this book, but it wasn’t exactly what I got. I wasn’t expecting so much supernatural, but the world building was well done. I liked most of the humor (I’ll admit the Gaston songs were pretty amazing) and the romance was super predictable but fun. I’m curious what more will come from this series, but I won’t need to rush to pre-order the next one, especially since her last series fell for me after the first book. The government made zombies to kill the supernaturals and of course they went feral and endangered all of man kind. Life seems mostly normal except for the walls and moats keeping the zombies out until Edie and her neighbor Chad stumble upon a few in their neighborhood. But Chad has been keeping secrets and as they venture out to try to save humanity Edie is determined to learn them all.
