Rescue on the Farm: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance is book 30 in the K-9 Companions series by Allie Pleiter. Narrated by Britta Cole.
Grant is a grumpy police officer who is home at his mom’s on forced leave. He thinks his mother is being foolish opening an animal rescue with her sister’s on her land. Meg is a widow with 2 young daughters who runs a cafe and is struggling.
In the beginning, I found Grant to be very condescending towards his mother and her plans for what to do with her time on her property. Fortunately, he is redeemed as the story goes on. This was a sweet story with two wounded people healing and coming together. The way Grant was with the girls was adorable, especially after an incident with the puppies. I plan to read or listen to other books in this series.
I thought the narrator did a good job. I was able to listen without being distracted by her. It was like listening to a show on TV. For me, if I’m noticing the narrator, that is not good.
Thank you to the author, Love Inspired, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Grant Emerson is on temporarily leave from his job as a police officer. He decides to help his mother sell the family farm. However, his mother and sisters – Barb and Peggy plan to open a Rescue Farm.
Meg Kettering is a widow with two young daughters- Sadie and Tabatha. Meg owns the Sundial Diner; however is struggling to make ends meet. She lives next door to Cay Emerson and knows about the upcoming plans to open “The Three Sister’s Rescue Farm’. The sister already found adorable puppies that need to be rescued!
Grant is sure his mom and aunts cannot make an animal sanctuary work, he believes it would be too much for them.
When Meg’s daughters meet 6ft 5 Grant they call him ‘Big’ and when they thought he was out of hearing range mention it was also “grumpy’. They also believe that his “smile is broken’ and they have a plan to fix it!
This was such an enjoyable read. Not exactly a Valentine’s Day story but one that can work every day. Glad I found it just in time to read for Valentine’s Day!
