Lauren Street’s Come Back To Me merges elements of mystery and emotional drama. I have read other books in this series and really enjoyed them. However, I had a difficult time with Come Back To Me. I didn’t like Rileigh in this story for some reason. She had a brashness to her that I didn’t like. The story revolves around Rileigh Bishop and her partner Mitch as they investigate a murder that leads to the unexpected arrival of Michaela, a woman searching for her birth mother.
The narrative tends to feel disjointed, with abrupt transitions that leave me feeling lost. Key plot points are rushed, and the initial intrigue surrounding the murder investigation dissipates as the story veers into increasingly convoluted territory.
Character development is another area where the story falters. Rileigh’s emotional struggles are superficially sketched and fail to resonate on a meaningful level. Similarly, Michaela, the survivor at the center of the mystery, appears as a one-dimensional character driven more by the plot than by genuine motivations or growth. The relationships between characters often feel contrived in this story.
Overall, Come Back To Me was not my favorite of this series, unfortunately. I will read the next book and more from this author, though.

Are you a mystery fan? If so, check out Come Back to Me by Lauren Street. This was a twisty turny book that kept me turning pages.

This is my first read from Lauren Street. I really enjoyed this book. Overall, I found the characters to be well developed and the writing top notch. I look forward to going back and reading others in the series.

A woman named Michaela or Mickey arrives in Black Bear Forge looking for Lily Bishop. An old man was stabbed in the bus station restroom and then a young woman stumbles out of the woods with stab wounds. Mickey sent off her DNA and got results back in common with Lily, Rileigh and Jillian’s mother. Jillian had to give her up when she had her. Now a man from Jillian’s past wants to kill both Jillian and Mickey. But someone is also after Mickey and hiding in the woods might not be the best place for them.
This was good but where it’s an ARC there were lots of mistakes and it totally confused me. Mitch and Rileigh are back to solve another mystery. Jillian reveals a secret. Pulse pounding action.

A long lost daughter. A remote cabin. A deadly mistake. Rileigh Bishop and Mitch are called to investigate the murder of an old man at a bus station. They’re prepared for blood and death. They’re not prepared for a survivor a woman named Michaela. She says she’s looking for the woman who gave her up for adoption: Rileigh’s sister, Jillian Bishop! Great book and series! It can definitely be read as a stand alone but it’s great to see old characters from previous books! This book had great suspense, mystery, intriguing, gruesome murders, fantastic characters, a great who done it and some wild twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting! A long lost daughter. A remote cabin. A deadly mistake. Rileigh Bishop and Mitch are called to investigate the murder of an old man at a bus station. They’re prepared for blood and death. They’re not prepared for a survivor – a woman named Michaela. She says she’s looking for the woman who gave her up for adoption: Rileigh’s sister, Jillian Bishop. But while Michaela is looking for Jillian, someone is looking for Michaela. And they’ve got a lot of reasons to want her – and Rileigh – dead. Come Back to Me is the 11th novel in the Bishop Smoky Mountain Thrillers series by Lauren Street.
