I loved this book. Written from servant's point of view, its set at the time restaurants were becoming popular. Biddy the narrator is forced to go with her mistress to Italy. Biddy has a sharp eye for what she sees and keeps the recipes she discovers written in her diary and to top it off there is a mystery to solve.

This book was not what I expected, but in a good way. There were interesting character developments and I loved the recipes between the chapters.
