Wow! I couldn’t put this one down! I love the idea of how they were all picked because of the traumatic events they survived. I thought it was a really unique story and I really liked all the characters. The setting was really cool. The scene where Milo is sitting right in front of her in the dark was very disturbing.

I am a huge fan of Kate Alice Marshall so I jumped at the chance to read this one. It was written in her normal style and was gripping and suspenseful. I did not realize it was YA until partway through and it is definitely Kate Alice Marshall lite but overall a good read.

This felt like every other novel that has a reality tv setting and a mystery/murder theme. It wasn't bad as such, but just didn't stand out from the crowd. It didn't help that there was no option to download it to kindle, which made the reading process frustrating.

I really enjoy this author! This one was a little too YA for me, but overall I still liked it! I love the twists and the story line was good. 3/5 stars for me!

i don't read a lot of YA but this to me didn't read like one. I was totally engrossed and was very entertained. I totally recommend this book if you like her other books.

This is my fourth Kate Alice Marshall book, and I like her so much that when I saw this on NetGalley, I took advantage of being able to read it early. Like all of her books, it left me completely unable to guess where it was going to go, which is a quality I appreciate when I've read as many books as I have. It really seems like it is going to start off with a reality show survival game plot, but it very quickly zig zags and goes off in a different direction. It also does a nice job of tackling Nice Guy syndrome, including having the main character grapple with the fact that she didn't recognize that she was playing a role in perpetuating it.

Part reality show, part psychological survival game, this is the kind of book that keeps your pulse pounding until the final page.

Mercy Gray just wants to disappear. Once a national hero after stopping a mall shooting, she's now a traumatized shadow of her former self — physically injured, emotionally raw, and drowning in medical debt. When charismatic billionaire-turned-TV-host Damien Dare invites her to join the cast of his latest reality competition, a survivalist-style series with a massive cash prize, she reluctantly agrees. It's supposed to be her fresh start.

But the moment Mercy arrives on set, she knows something is wrong. The “set” is completely barren. No crew. No cameras. Just other contestants — and a chilling silence. Then the gates lock behind them. Without warning. Without explanation.

This isn’t a show. It’s a trap.
And not all of them will make it out alive.

WE WON'T ALL SURVIVE by Kate Alice Marshall

Thank you Netgalley and PenguinTeen for the earc (Jul 29)

8 survivalist. 1 tv show, 1 abandoned town.
Mercy is a hero---two years ago she saved lives during mall sho*ting. Now, she's been invited to compete in a tv show. When she and the other contestants arrive, something doesn't seem right. Then the d*aths start happening.
I loved this book. It was so good and has instantly become my favorite read of the month---perhaps the whole year. WE WON'T ALL SURVIVE is easily devourable and kept me intrigued. I was on the edge of my seat as this thriller progressed, and there was never a dull moment which made it all the more thrilling. The whodunit wasn't as surprising as I had hoped, but there was so many more surprises that made up for this.
WE WON'T ALL SURVIVE is a mix of thrills and chills and survival. There an ample amount of drama, and there's even plenty of secrets to go around. Chef's kiss.

Kate Alice Marshall put together a really good thriller. Thank you netgalley for this ARC.
Mercy enters herself into this new TV reality show in order to get money to send her sister off to college. Mercy’s mom spent all the money they had from an inheritance to save her life when she was shot. Mercy shows up to this ghost town with seven other individuals. Once the gate closes they are on their own to act like a team to survive, but they slowly drop like flies. After getting shot, Mercy has trust issues and doesn’t know who she can count on in the group.

While this didn't pull me in immediately, I was thoroughly hooked by the halfway point! It's a high stakes thriller about teens on a survival reality show that turns dark almost right away. The pace was fast enough to keep my attention. There was just enough information given about each character. Big things kept happening one right after another and really kept me guessing on how it would end. Even though the "big bad guy" of the story wasn't hard to figure out, there were plenty of surprising twists otherwise. Book endings often disappoint me and this one did not. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a thriller that keeps you engaged and guessing until the very end!

Thank you to Penguin Group and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book!

The characters are deep and well developed, you feel like you’re there with them. The plot twists were unexpected and truly had you gasping out loud. I really enjoyed this book and i’m DEFINITELY going to be reading more by Kate Marshall.

If you like fast paced Young Adult thrillers then this is the book for you. I never wanted it to end because I was so engrossed with the plot and the characters.

It's rare that a book has so much to say about how our world is today without losing any of the excitement of the plot. Mercy Gray is chosen to be part of a survival reality show. When she arrives, she discovers that she was chosen - like the other contestants - for her past trauma. This is a story about privelige and obsession, and trying to survive in a world that exaggerates the wrong thing.

We Won’t All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thrilling. Tense. Impossible to put down.

Kate Alice Marshall delivers another pulse-pounding thriller with We Won’t All Survive—a high-stakes survival story meets murder mystery that fans of Karen M. McManus and Holly Jackson will devour.

Mercy Gray, still recovering from the trauma of surviving a mall shooting, enters a reality show in hopes of securing a better future for her sister. But the competition turns deadly when contestants start dropping one by one, and the cameras aren’t rolling anymore.

Marshall masterfully blends suspense, emotion, and twisty plotting in a story where trusting the wrong person could be your last mistake. The wilderness setting is atmospheric and claustrophobic, and Mercy is a gritty, layered heroine you’ll root for from start to finish.

This one has it all: secrets, betrayal, survival, and a mystery that kept me guessing until the final page.

Highly recommended for fans of fast-paced YA thrillers with heart.

I’d honestly join a fan club just to read Kate Alice Marshall’s grocery lists—I'm that hooked on her writing. I especially adore her gripping adult mysteries and supernatural YA thrillers, which I usually tear through in one sitting. So when I got the chance to read an ARC of her newest book, I didn’t even bother reading the synopsis. I dove right in, eager to see what twists she had in store.

This one stands apart from her recent work, feeling more in line with something Holly Jackson might write. The premise? A high-stakes survival reality show, hosted by eccentric tech mogul and TV personality Damien Dare (such a great name, right?). Eight contestants, each having survived a real-life disaster—think mountain survival, train wrecks, boat accidents—are selected to compete for a life-changing cash prize.

Enter Mercedes Gray. She’s lived through a horrific mall shooting, where a gunman obsessed with her sister, Jamie, opened fire. Mercedes saved lives, including Jamie’s, but was shot herself. The aftermath left her with chronic pain and massive medical bills, draining Jamie’s college fund. Hoping to give her sister a fresh start, Mercedes applies to the show, despite her doubts.

From the start, though, something’s wrong. There’s no welcoming crew, just vague video instructions, constant surveillance, and an eerie lack of rules. Among her fellow contestants are Harrison, a walking crime encyclopedia with a podcast, and Milo, a friendly Canadian with questionable vibes. After they fail their first challenge, the danger becomes terrifyingly real—someone ends up dead, and the killer is among them.

As Mercedes fights to survive, she must figure out who to trust, uncover what’s really going on, and confront the secrets her fellow contestants are hiding. One of them is far more dangerous than anyone suspects—and time is running out.

My Thoughts:
While I didn’t love this quite as much as Marshall’s earlier books, I still enjoyed the ride. I figured out the killer pretty early, and parts of the plot felt a bit predictable. But what really worked for me were the characters. So often, survival thrillers give us paper-thin archetypes. Here, the characters have depth and genuinely compelling backstories, which made me care about their fates.

I’m rounding my 3.5-star rating up to 4. It’s a fast-paced, suspenseful story with a satisfying ending and some strong emotional beats. If you're a fan of Kate Alice Marshall or love survival thrillers with a psychological edge, this one’s definitely worth the read.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group | Viking Books for Young Readers for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the best kind of thriller. We Won't All Survive is full of action, well-plotted, and full of characters who are pivot between suspicious and refreshing.
Mercy wants to win Who Survives for her sister. She's desperate enough to ignore her sister's warnings about the new reality tv show.
As Mercy finds out, the show isn't just eight young people in the setting of a ghost town. It's really a ghost town, with no one there but the other contestants and the desert. With only the competition's cryptic clues for survival, someone isn't playing fair. Someone is murdering off the other contestants. It's a constant guessing game of who to trust, because they need each other to live through this and escape.
Part reality show, part survival story. it's completely a fast-paced read. Five stars.

I love Kate Alice Marshall books, she has become an autobuy author. This is the first young adult book I have read from her. I read this in less than two days. The story kept me engaged and guessing. Everytime I thought I knew the killer, i was wrong, right until the end when it all fell together I was wowed! I could no put the story down and the characters and backstories kept you interested and debating each chapter who did it! Can't wait to read more of her YA titles. Beyond excited for the chance to read this early!!

Going to a ghost town to participate in a game contest.. to me sounds creepy as is but with the turn of events that follow, I would have done whatever I could have as well to survive/escape! This book is captivating, once you start thinking you might know what’s going on or who’s doing what… BOOM! A plot twist that leaves you guessing and has you wanting even more.

I was skeptical at first because it was kind of a slow start but I did appreciate a lot of what this book had to offer. It was written very well and all of the characters had their own personalities and most were easy to remember. I do feel like it dragged on in spots but not enough to not recommend reading it. It was a very good concept for a book and not something that's been repeated a million times. Even though the characters are mostly teenagers, they all are written so mature that you forget they even are. Highly recommend for young adult readers but honestly, for any reader!

Thanks to NetGalley & Penguin Young Readers Group for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is my first Kate Alice Marshall book, but it won’t be my last. This book was just the right amount of suspense in it. You knew people were going to die throughout the book, but you didn’t know who or how they would die. I loved that the chapters were separated into short sections making it easy to come back later and read here and there. The main character, Mercy, is very likable & the hero of the story, even though she doesn’t consider herself to be. I liked most of the other characters as well with the exception of a couple of them that seemed shady from the beginning. I figured out the twist at the end but that’s only because I’ve read a lot of thrillers lately & I’m getting better at figuring out who the killer is at the end. Overall, I enjoyed it & would recommend it to people who like suspense stories.
