When I want an escapist, hot romantic suspense I turn to Lisa Marie Rice. Dangerous Secrets is one of my favorite romantic fantasy tropes--the quiet (but beautiful) small town librarian and the dangerous, hard edged Delta Force operative. Nick Ireland is under cover and his assignment means he must seduce the innocent Charity Prewitt. Is it realistic? Not really, but it is intense and suspenseful. The sex is hot, but more importantly is the emotional intensity that provides the extra steam. Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Charity, a librarian in a small town mets Nick, an undercover agent who told Charity he was an entrepreneur looking for a place to invest his money but was actually out to capture a vicious criminal living in the same town. He knew Charity was a friend of Vassily and went to his house to musical soirées.
Vassily had befriended her and treated her very well because she was the splitting image of his dead lover.
Nick managed to “attach” himself to Charity hoping to know more about Vassily to assist in his capture. Little did he realize how Charity would change his life. There is a lot of intense romance which for me was a little over the top, but for some could be what they enjoy reading. I had difficulty deciding between a 3.5 and a 4.

Book 3 of the of the ‘Dangerous’ Trilogy by Lisa Marie Rice. As usual, a bad guy who is only bad until the love of the right woman turns his life around. Nick Ames/Sinclair moves to Parker's Ridge to pursue a Russian mobster working with a known terrorist. In order to get close to Vassily, the mobster, Nick must get close to his best friend, Cloe Prewitt.

Thus creating the crux in the story, for me that is. In order to get close to Cloe, Nick must deceive her in almost all ways. He lies about his name, profession, past, and various elements of his personality. They of course fall in love and he never tells her the truth. In fact, he has every intention of leaving her when his part of the mission is over. Good read as always, but reminded me quite a bit of Midnight Man, one of LMR’s early works.

This book is full of action while keeping the steamy scenes alive. Great read and highly recommended.

I've enjoyed Lisa Marie Rice's books for years now, and always look forward to a new one of hers. When I saw this available on NetGalley, I was happy to grab it, not realizing that I already had read it in paperback a long time ago! However, I enjoyed rereading it once again, and indeed, then had to reread the two others in the trilogy! She creates exciting characters and storylines, though some edge towards the far-reached. They do offer a good dose of fantasy for a sometimes humdrum life!

I've read and enjoyed several of Ms. Rice's books in the past and this was no exception. The plot was suspenseful and well-paced with just the right amount of action and heat. Nick and Charity were a good couple.

Dangerous Secrets by Lisa Marie Rice is a racy story with an actual plot that warms the heart. It is a romance at heart. Vassily Worontzoff had been a good man, a poet, until he was arrested at the end of the Soviet era in Russia. He was sent to a prison camp along with this girl friend, Katya. He survived but he had to listen as Katya was abused by man after man until she died. He came out a broken man and now many years later was smuggling nuclear material. To most of the outside world he was a gentle and cultured man who had settled in Vermont where he talked literature and sponsored musical events. He had honed in on librarian, Charity Prewitt, because she looked just like his Katya. In this, he was mixing reality with memory. Nick Ireland, aka Nicholas Ames, had arrived in Parker’s Ridge to take Vassily and his network down. He had been a soldier and now he worked for the government. In this case, he broke a rule. He fell in love.

Rice’s books are spicy, no doubt, but they also have a plot and are filled with human interaction and emotion. Nick, The Iceman, was a good agent and he swore to follow this until they end. They had good intel and when an assassin tried to kill him, he turned the tables on him. Hence, he was watching his own funeral in real time and it was breaking what was left of his heart. He was a good character, well written and easy to identify with. Charity seemed almost too good to be true. And Vassily was the ideal villain, until he wasn’t. It was a fast-paced and interesting read. I have just come upon Rice’s books and I love them.

I was invited to read Dangerous Secrets by Book Whisperer. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #BookWhisperer #LisaMarieRice #DangerousSecrets

This was a great thriller/suspense book with a lot of spice. I really enjoyed the plot and found the main characters to be very likeable and believable. I liked that even though you knew what was going to happen, you still didn't quite know and had to keep reading. The ending was absolutely perfect too.

I hadn’t read a Lisa Marie Rice in over a year but had always enjoyed her books and writing, so was doubly impressed by the fact that this romantic suspense was an “edge of your seat” story. It sucked me in almost immediately and did not let go! Charity was a small town librarian who falls for Nick, an undercover agent for homeland security. He has a made up persona, but somehow falls for her too. She is friends with a Russian mafia guy, but doesn’t know that either and the Russian thinks she is his wife come back from the dead. I know the premise seems wild, but the story was believable enough for me that I couldn’t read this book fast enough. Romance was really good, but the storyline was even better. Am going to have to start reading her books again.

I loved this book!

The action & spice were top tier! Gotta love the cold heartless hero that melts for the heroine. This book is gripping from the beginning and I just could not put it down. Nick is one of my favorite heroes ever! :)

I read everything LMR publishes and this title did not disappoint. I LOVE a sexy, alpha male and of course, being a librarian, swoon! It was great in all of the best ways and can't wait to see what's next!

The first chapter of this book was such a hook up, I read almost the whole book waiting to see how the story got there.

This is the last book in the series and it continues the very heightened doze of passion and danger the first 2 featured. I feel with this book LMR made her own version of insta love, when the characters just meet and go directly to the hot stuff. There's not much space for deep talks, though there is a big proof of love when the hero takes charge on a family matter.

I am grateful to have received this book in order to share my view on it, my one star is missing from this rating because it was not an easy read for me, that darkness hit close home (geographically speaking) and I needed more intimacy than raw passion between the characters. However, this is very well written, and it has a lot of suspense and a lot of passion. I think any reader of the LMR's book will appreciate this.

The major players? Charity, Nick, and Vassily. Charity is a charming small town librarian. She doesn’t have many friends and is tethered to a small Vermont town by her remaining family members. Nick is an undercover agent of the Unit and master at gathering information. Vassily is a famous Russian writer, also known as a major crime boss. He lost his true love, Katya, when they were captured by the KGB. The mission? Nick aims to get close to Charity in order to gain more knowledge about Vassily and ultimately take him down. Nick and Charity have chemistry that is off the charts! He’s normally very focused during an op, but Charity scrambles his brain immediately. The complicated plot and backstory I feel took away from the romantic side of the book. However, there definitely was not a lack of action and suspense.

A strong heroine and an alpha male stayed one step ahead of the explosive action and secrets that could be deadly. This was the first time I have read this author and I definitely recommend her!

This was a trip down Memory Lane. I read this years ago, and while there are subtle updates, I don’t remember any substantial differences.

Insta-love abounds between a pensive introvert and an alpha man.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

I like the dangerous theme to this book and the romantic suspense part of the book. It was little unbelievable at times including some of the spicy scenes but some may be more interested in those aspects however I thought the dangerous/suspense aspect was my favorite part.

Powerfully beautiful! This is a romance for romantics!
I absolutely love the characters in Ms. Rice's stories, so relatable yet also larger than life.
The connection between Charity and Nick is much like her other books.... almost a love at first sight, but the story was fresh and compelling. I absolutely loved the resolution to the story and the epilogue.
This was a Netgalley read, and I'd love to read more from the author!

Lots of suspense in this story. It is a whirlwind romance. Charity is instantly attracted to Nick and can't believe how quickly her feelings for him changed. Nick falls just as quickly for Charity, but he has some secrets. If she finds out, it will mean the end of their relationship. There is a Russian man in Charity's town that befriended her. She thinks that he is just a nice old man. The truth is, he is a ruthless mobster, and she happens to look like the woman he loved a long time ago. He thinks she is his love that has come back to life. The Russian is the reason that Nick is in town. When danger stalks Charity, Nick will do anything to protect her. Even blow up his career. Will they survive this?
