Usually, I love a cosy contemporary romance. However, this was not for me. The entire storyline was extremely confusing and hard to understand at most points. Betty and Miles had the worst dialogue. Every time they talked, it felt like they had no connection and were extremely boring together. The beginning of the plot, with them meeting through Betty’s sister and husband, Miles best friend, was okay. And it was quite funny with how they met. However, it went downhill from there. I really didn’t understand what exactly they were doing or why. Near the beginning, Betty is said to have experienced some kind of trauma with a man and expresses guilt, however it’s never really talked about after that or given context to how it affects her later on.

As for the sister and her husband, they clearly had PROBLEMS, as shown but it was never really fully explained as to how it happened and I feel like that could have been a way better addition to the plot. I get that Miles and Betty were kind of in opposite ends with Miles being the husband, Tates, friend and Scarlet being Betty’s sister, but it was just really off.

Overall, I just couldn’t get into it. It wasn’t for me at all. It felt like there were a lot of holes in the plot that needed to be rectified to make it more readable.

This was a cute and sweet read with all the spring vibes to it. I really enjoyed how this book was set up and the little village it was in. The characters were adorable and i really enjoyed their growth throughout the book! The romance was realistic and cute and the setting was warm and comforting in their village. Also the mentions of food in this book made me so hungry! Betsey was a cutie pie and i strive to be like her!

Betty moves into the Boathouse cottage that belongs to her sister scarlett when she needs room for her and there late mums horse Pumpkin.
she thought she would have the place to herself but soon finds out that her sisters husband has been letting his friend stay there.
Miles appleton let her down at her sisters wedding by messing about with seating plan and regreted it.

Miles is the last person she wants to share the house with.
But there is a spark between them that betty trys her hardest to ignore this is the last thing she wants.

This is a follow on book from jane Linfoot i havn't read any over the others but will look out for them as this was a lovley book.

A lovely story of overcoming the past to move forward. I loved Miles and Betsy and the way both move beyond past trauma with time, conversation and patience. Really lovely. And the tasty food made me want to try baking! Really enjoyable story.

This was so cute! This book was so beautifully set up and it made me want to live in cosy Cornish village. I loved the characters and I loved how heartwarming it is. The romance is realistic and gradual, and I liked how all the elements of baking, beach walks, and friendly neighbours made the book so charming!

Betty heads to Boathouse Cottage with her pony, hoping for a peaceful escape, but instead gets caught up in her sister’s marital troubles. To complicate things further, Miles—her brother-in-law’s best friend and someone she’d rather avoid—is also around. The problem? He bakes irresistible treats, and despite their history, Betty finds it hard to keep her distance.

This was a charming, easy read—perfect for a cozy afternoon. The seaside setting was lovely, and I especially enjoyed the unique touch of having a pony as a pet. A sweet story with just the right amount of drama and heart.

Such a joy to be back in St Aidans. Lovely to catch up with the mermaids and see how they are getting on. The beach and surrounding areas were delightful as usual. I loved reading about Betsey and her boho ways and the delicious sounding Milo. Coupled with Pumpkin the pony and his exploits. This book was a joy from start to finish.

A beautiful Cornish village on the coast, an adorable animal, a hunky guy and lots of baked goods. What's not to like about this book! The first and only time Betty met Miles was at her sister's wedding where he spent the day blanking her so he is the last person with whom she wants to spend a whole summer in a one bedroom cottage but what can she do. When a landlord says he allows pets he doesn't mean a Shetland pony. This "will they ever get it together" romance is witten in Jane Linfoot's inimitable style with lots of fun along with some heartstring tugging emotion. I can't wait for her next book.

I was invited by the publisher to review this book. Betty goes to Boathouse Cottage with her pony in order to re-charge, but instead finds herself embroiled in a fight - that is, her sister's fight within her marriage. To make matters worse, Miles, the best friend of Betty's brother-in-law, is in the mix - and that is a history that Betty does not want to re-visit. The problem is, Miles bakes delicious items, and Betty can't stay away from them, or him, even though they are supposed to be on opposite sides of the ending marriage.

This was a sweet, simple read; a good choice for a crisp spring day. Also, I really loved the book cover - it is inviting and definitely cozy! I also loved that the pet in this book was actually a pony - I love dogs and cats, but it was nice to get a different perspective with the pony.
