This was well researched, and the author did an excellent job describing definitions and making sure he was being clear. I just had a hard time following what the ultimate point of it was, I understand it's a history but I want to know the why and the conclusion.

Lower than the Angels is an audacious deep dive into the tangled history of sex and Christianity, peeling back centuries of dogma, contradiction, and shifting moral tides. With razor-sharp insight and a gift for storytelling, Diarmaid MacCulloch unearths the forces that have shaped religious views on intimacy, desire, and the body itself. This book doesn’t just recount history—it challenges us to rethink everything we thought we knew about how faith and sexuality have danced, clashed, and evolved over time. Thought-provoking, impeccably researched, and utterly gripping, this is a must-read for anyone willing to question, explore, and engage with the past to better understand the present.
