✨ forced proximity
✨ one bed trope
✨ jealousy scenes
✨ tension & yearning
✨workplace romance
✨ spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
✨ 3rd act drama

Quick Thoughts:

I loved the Spanish Love Deceptionwhen it came out, it made me realize at the time that workplace romance were top notch for rom coms. This book made me fall in love with workplace romance yet again. I was obsessed with the banter, headstrong FMC and the little forced proximity moments in the book. Please please please Nisha, keep writing in this world.

I loved:

Light Plot
The main “plot” is the relationship which I will talk about, but the secondary plot is Tris finding herself and leaving a toxic environment. I loved that Nisha was realistic in the nepo moments, the struggle for women in male fields and how women can be villains too. I was hopeful for Tris, and I was excited for how Tris handled the situations that were thrown at her.

Tris
I loved Tris. Give me another book of Tris. I love an independent girl with struggles that she is willing to admit. Tris knew she wasn't perfect, but she also knew she was good at her job and deserved more. I loved how she stood up for herself as well both towards Rafe and towards the company .

Friendship
I really enjoyed that added element of friendship in this book. From Molly back home who checked in constantly and was in the end chapters with Tris being home, to her finding friendship at the retreat. I feel like this gave Tris a more rounded character, and her development wasn't just focused on love.

The thing I disliked

Rafe
I know this is WILD because I genuinely enjoyed the book so much,so how do I not like the MMC? I should say, I am more neutral about him. I felt Rafe didn't have a strong personality to me other than how he looks. I know he likes to bake, and go to the gym but other than that nothing stood out to me. Yeah he had some good banter with Tris, but to be honest he was a bit forgettable. The Hannah drama could have made him more interesting, but it wasn't that detailed so yet again it left me very neutral. The ending was cute, but I didn't see enough of Rafe’s personality to really care about him.

Overall, I am buying this book when it comes out. I genuinely enjoyed Tris and her story too much to not have a physical copy.

I just finished this and it is easily one of my all time favourite reads for this style of romance. Rafe and Tris were adorable and scorching...the yearning, tension and banter was top tier. And the spice? Absolutely, amazingly top notch.

But the way Nisha dealt with the microaggressions of being a woman, especially one of colour, was absolutely spot on. I work in STEM, I personally have been fortunate that I work with really great people, but this take was everything. I loved that she showed the layers, the ways that it can be as simple as assuming you will be the one to take notes (or organize birthday cards 🙄). It isn't always overtly sexual, but it is insidious and present, and there is still a lot of work to be done. I also really appreciated how Rafe supported Tris, acknowledging the "caveman" attitude is not always helpful, that she needed someone to make her feel safe so that SHE could be brave. That letter at the end made me want to cheer out loud....I almost did!

I haven't purchased a lot of physical books recently, but THIS one I will be. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

Rival engineers Trishara and Rafe end up in Hawaii for a leadership retreat. A mistake has them struck sharing the honeymoon suite. They end up falling for each other.

Love the snappy dialogue. Trishara and Rafe are interesting characters. Love their chemistry together. Terrific romance. I love how the reality of being a woman and especially a woman of colour at work is woven into the love story without taking away the fun and romance.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I absolutely adored this book! As a long-time fan of Nisha's Romantasy books, this was such a refreshing and fun read from her. This book was a workplace romance that delivered tension, witty banter, and a sharp critique of toxic corporate culture. Trishara, a fierce and ambitious woman navigates the challenges of microaggressions, sexism, and racism while constantly butting heads with her coworker, Rafe—a cocky, very attractive son of the company’s executive. When both are selected for an exclusive three-week leadership retreat in Hawaii, their professional rivalry collides with undeniable chemistry, leading to a battle of wills, banter, and some wonderfully steamy moments.

I absolutely loved the tropes in this book—workplace rivals, enemies to lovers, the iconic one-bed situation, and yes, the forearms (a crucial detail!). Trishara’s strength and resilience were so refreshing, and the BIPOC representation was seamlessly woven into the story. Nisha J. Tuli also throws in subtle nods to her other books, which was such a treat for longtime readers of her Romantasy genres. And the spice? Top-tier. 🔥

If you love workplace drama with smart, fierce banter and undeniable chemistry, this book is a must-read!

Not Safe for Work was absolutely delightful in all the best ways. Tris was such a pleasure to read and I ate up every bit of the tension between her and Rafe. The bed situation made me weak. Her personality made me root for her from the very beginning, but I especially loved the way that she grew through her experiences. This story made me squeal and cheer in equal measure. As a woman in a male dominated workplace, I felt that her story was especially valid during this particular day and time. I will read anything at all that Nisha writes, but I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about her maiden voyage into contemporary romance.

I could NOT put this down- it captivated me right from the start! Such an easy-to-read, delightful book. I loved the representation of all walks of life throughout the book, and so appreciated the character growth.

This is not just another work-place romance. The depth in this story is so much more than I was expecting.

Highly recommend to anyone interested in STEM, Romance, and just good reading!

I am obsessed with this book! Tris and Rafe get chosen to represent their company’s branch on a work retreat. They get to the hotel and discover that they have to room together with only one bed is one of my favorite tropes. I loved how this book didn’t shy away from real world problems. Tris having to deal with the micro-aggressions due to her race and gender and having to work through those, while awful, she realizes her worth and strength throughout the book. The tension between the two characters was absolutely perfect. They were both so into each other and didn’t know how to go forward till the fuck it moment, which was so good! I loved the female side characters. They provided comic relief and I love a book with good, strong female friendships.

Overall, I LOVED this book! Rafe coming back in the end to cook for her and share her with all his followers to show her that he was really in it with her was such a cute moment!!

I’m a huge fan of Nisha already, and Not Safe for Work was the perfect book for her to write after 2 amazing romantasies! Absolutely loved and can’t wait for more!!

After reading Nisha J Tuli's newest novel Not Safe for Work, I need a vacation, a dessert, and an orgasm in that order. I really enjoyed our kickass FMC, Tris who has been held back in a male dominated field. The casual misogyny displayed is spot on from every office I've ever been in.
I wanted to like the MMC Rafe and his sexy forearms more but he came off a little flat. I started to root for him when we learned more about his personality but it took awhile.
Enjoyed their story, happy for no third act breakup up because our pair are adults and communicated (mostly) to resolve things. Love a HEA.

I've been so excited for this book, and Not Safe For Work did not disappoint! Devoured this within like less than 5 hours?? Absolutely couldn't put it down.

Tris and Rafe had very palpable tension and yearning throughout the book (I am a forearm girlie too) and the banter was cute, even if it was immature at times. They were at least smart enough to realize it and discuss it properly later. And the spice from the tension build up... I was screaming and kicking my feet the moment that rubber band snapped.

While this is a fluffy workplace rom-com with a one bed trope, there is an underlying impactful story of how BIPOC women in STEM (and other male dominated fields) face issues with sexism and racism in the workplace. Nisha said some parts of the book was inspired by her personal experiences in her career and it definitely felt real and believable in the story. I also personally relate to this book which is why I was so excited to read it.

Rafe honestly surprised me with his direction in life (his dream). But definitely in a good way. Love that for him!!

Thank you Forever and NetGalley for the eARC!!

Oft I did not like this book, plain and simple. The characters were extremely juvenile with a big dose of insta love and miscommunication… nope nope not for me 🙅🏻‍♀️

Okay I loved this! I don’t typically read romance books but I love Nisha J. Tuli so I knew I had to read it. And wow I can’t believe how much I loved this! This was such a fun read but also focuses on some major workplace problems for women and people of color. As a woman in STEM I can relate to this so much. I really liked how Nisha incorporated these problems into a fun, spicy, rivals to lovers rom com.

The setting was perfect. I mean who doesn’t want a Hawaii work retreat??? AND you’re stuck sharing a room with your very attractive workplace rival. The main and side characters were great! I loved Tris and Rafe’s start as rivals. Seeing their relationship change and grow throughout the book was great. Plus their banter was so fun. I also loved Tris’ friend group grow from Molly to include Lan and Gabrielle. They are a great group!

My favorite part of the book has to be seeing Tris and Rafe stand up for themselves and begin doing what they love. They each had ongoing problems with their work and personal lives so it was very interesting to see them work through it. Overall I loved this book and highly recommend to everyone who wants a fun new romance book!

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Forever publishing!

Nisha could write instructions for my microwave and I'd eat up every second of it. The banter? *chefs kiss* Trishara is so relatable in how she thinks about Rafe and I was completely sucked into every word. Im not usually a rom-com girlie but this was an absolute delight for me and I cant wait to get a copy for my bookshelf!

huge thanks to Nisha and Netgalley for the ARC!

I don’t even know where to start this book was amazing! I absolutely loved it! This is a slow burn, workplace romcom with such delicious tension. It’s also about how women and women of color are treated in the workplace, especially in a male dominated field. Sadly, this topic is still so relevant for women and the way the author navigated through this in the book was so well done. It also hurts my heart that the author stated some of the things written are real life inspired from her time working as an engineer. Not saying all men are like this, but hey, let’s all do better! From writing fantasy to a rom com @nishajtwrites you killed it. I’m so happy I had the opportunity get an early copy and provide a review for you guys. This book is released on May 20th. So don’t forget to add it to your tbr!!

This book was exactly what I needed from a romcom. It was perfectly paced, kept me entertained the entire time! It felt like sitting on the couch and watching a classic funny romantic movie on a Friday night with some takeout and snacks. I enjoyed the whole time I was reading it. If I ever wrote a book, I’d only hope to produce something this fun.

Not Safe for Work tells the story of Tris and Rafe, two rival co-workers/workplace enemies, who find themselves in a company retreat in close quarters. Sparks fly and there might be feelings beside hate floating in the resort. With plenty of delightful tropes like one bed, close proximity and assumptions that might not be the entire reality, it's such a fun story and I had a really good time reading it.

I found the characters interesting and the more I got to know both Tris and Rafe, the more they revealed about themselves. I loved that it was told from her POV and that really gave me a sense of who Tris is and where her insecurities arise from. And the banter between the characters, that was top notch! Some moments had me truly giggling out loud.

The pacing of the book is good, the story moves quite fast but there are good, quiet moments as well. The spice is written well and they were really good. Like really, really good. Nisha absolutely can write good spice. I would've wished for a little more emotional development too in their relationship but overall I found the romance a delight. Also I have to comment that I feel Nisha wrote about workplace sexism, racisim and microaggressions respectfully and I feel they elevated the book.

I also love the little Easter egg about the Ouranos series and I was so happy to see it here! Yay!

YES YES YES PLEASE READ THISSS. I devoured this book in like one sitting. I feel like rom coms can be too cheesy for me at times but when I tell you that this one was PERFECTION, I meant it. It’s enemies to lovers, forced proximity, one bed, forbidden love, but also the most scrumptious protective MMC. This is the same author that wrote the trial of the sun queen series(artefacts of Ouranos) and I LOVED them but I swear like I do not hear enough people talking about her. Nisha’s writing style is SO GOOD!! She includes so much detail and depth and really breaks down who the MC is + what’s going on in their head. Plus the fact that this FMC is of color just had me giddy in the best way possible. She’s such a bada** in what she wants for her career but we also get to see the vulnerability that makes us love her just that much more. Also I am SAT for Rafe.🧎🏽‍♀️It’s giving big cinnamon roll but possessive MC in the best way possible.

Without giving too much away I LOVED that it wasn’t just the FMC following her dream in the end it was the MMC and ugh the ending was just perfect. If you love rom coms and you haven’t put this on your TBR what are you doing???

It’s hard for me to give a book 5 stars let alone a rom com but this right here takes the cake!

Arc Review

Not safe for work
By Nisha J. tuli
Publish date: May 25 2025

I absolutely love Nishas writing and love all her fantasy books. So when I opened my email to see I was selected to read her first contemporary romance I screamed! I dove right in and read this book in one sitting.

Rom-com meet STEM yes please!! This was the perfect light hearted romance with real issues talked about! Especially for women in a male dominated career. I absolutely loved how nisha dived into this topic.

I loved the tension between Rafe and Tris and their banter was chef kiss perfect!

Nisha continues to amaze me with her writing style and her quick wit. Officially on my auto buy list!

OMG! Literally perfect in every way ✨

Where do I even begin?? I’ve only read fantasy novels by Nisha, and I was so excited to find out that she was writing a rom-com. Needless to say, she freaking nailed it with this one. Literally knocked it out of the park. I didn’t think a book could be more perfect since Tale of the Heart Queen.

Plot: Trishara and Rafe are coworkers, who are stuck on a three week long training program in Hawaii. Plot twist, they have to share a room the entire time. Trishara is a baddie engineer, who is trying to make a name for herself and climb the ladder in a male dominated field. Rafe is the son of the boss, who surprises us in more ways than one during this journey. We see them go from hating each other, to way more in this epic slow burn.

My Thoughts: Trishara is literally a queen, and I’m obsessed with the fact that she was reading The Artefacts of Ouranos (if you know you know). Rafe is the brooding, dark villain with a surprisingly interesting hobby that made his character 10x better! The banter between the two is top 10, and the spicy scenes were perfection! We are told by the author herself that it’s a slooooow burn, and she was not kidding but it was so worth it! I’m sad the rest of the world has to wait until May for this book to come out.

Thank you Forever Publishing and Netgalley for an advanced e-copy of the book on exchange for an honest review.

3.5-3.75/5 Stars | So hard to put down!

What I liked: This book was so easy to read, so bingeable, so fun and fast paced! I think the slow-burn, enemies/rivals to lovers is where Nisha J. Tuli really shines! I loved the nod to Trial of the Sun Queen in this. The characters and the premise were so interesting!

What I didn't like: All of the HR violations in this totally took me out of the story. I haven't read a workplace romance in years, but I wanted to try again because I genuinely like Tuli's writing! I just can't do workplace romance--it's a trope issue for me and not the writing in any way! If you can get past this trope, this is a must-read!

Thanks to NetGalley and Forever for an advance copy of this read!
