SO CUTE. I love the illustrations and how the narration is mixed with the arrows and handwriting style of words as well. I like that it also shows everyone is different, and maybe you feel like you want to be those things, but you have your specialties that are great, and sometimes using what you have with your friends can make something amazing! Such a great idea.

This story was a dream for my six year old dinosaur-obsessed son.
The Stemosaurus is hardly the king of the jungle… he isn’t strong like Tyrannosaurus rex, or athletic like the brontosaurus. Little and clever, The Stemosaurus is finding it difficult to find his place in the world… until a ball of fire appears in the sky!
My little boy is very clever, careful and a bit of a worrier. It was so lovely seeing his eyes light up as he related to this book! A celebration of loving learning and being your own wonderful self, this book should be read in classrooms everywhere.

I found this book to be a little more advanced for the indícate age group of 4-8 years. The words used were more suitable for older children. Other than that, my son and I enjoyed it. The illustrations were fantastic! Very engaging and detailed. I loved that a few different dinosaurs were characterized in the book. Overall, a great read!

Stemosaurus by Andrew Root is a delightful dino adventure that blends friendship, fun, and STEM!🦕✨

As the dinos play and grow together, Spike spends his time reading 📖, solving math problems ➕➗, and building cool gadgets 🛠️ to try and fit in. But everything changes when a GIGANTIC meteor ☄️ threatens to crash their prehistoric party!
Will Spike use his scientific superpowers to save the day? 🧪🚀 Or will he hide in the shadows? 👀
This story is a dino-mite way to show kids how STEM is cool 🤓 and that everyone has their own unique gifts to share with the world 🌍💞. Me and my kiddo absolutely LOVED it! 🥰👩👦
Perfect for inspiring little scientists and inventors everywhere! 🔍🧬🎉

Stemosaurus is a charming and clever picture book that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and the power of STEM. Young readers will love Spike—a small, quiet dinosaur with a big imagination—who uses his love of science and invention to help his dino friends when danger comes their way. With playful illustrations and an inspiring message, this story shows that brains can save the day, and even the smallest dino can make a huge difference. A fun and empowering read for budding inventors and dino lovers alike!

Stemosaurus is a cute, fun story to encourage and expose kids to STEM but I feel like it missed the mark for me. It might be a personal preference, but I really struggle when multiple speech bubbles are present throughout the book that don't flow directly into the story. This tactic really takes away from the reading and then I'm trying to figure out which to read first to my son, the captions or the print. Speech bubbles were on every single page in the book but also added plot points that needed to be read for the overall story so you couldn't skip them, just had to figure out if they should be read before, during, or after the usual text....the flow also changed on every page on when this should be read. Overall, I thought it was a really cute premise that would engage kids if it were done in a different manner.

It's no secret that kids LOVE dinosaurs, so it's no question that many kids will absolutely ADORE this book. Additionally, this book brings something new to the realm of kids' books about dinosaurs: a nerdy dino! It's awesome that the author decided to create a lovable dinosaur that goes against the norm of big, strong, and scary. I believe that the Stemosaurus character will allow little ones that don't fit into the norm to feel seen and valued, just as Spike did. Lastly, the plot was well-organized, and clearly well-thought-out. The story flowed flawlessly, and every bit of it was just so, so clever. Bravo!

I really like how colorful the artwork is! I was impressed with how simple, but effective the storyline is. I also really liked that it had lots of bigger words that could open up a conversation about them and then could lead to science topics.

This was very cute! It had a great message about everyone’s different strengths, and of course, featured dinosaurs!
I think this would also be a great vocabulary builder book!

Netgalley ARC - 3.5 stars. A quick and relatively simple story that aims to showcase our main characters curiousity and talents in STEM. I think it was missing an element of the story or maybe just a bit of pizzazz.

This book is the cutest thing I have seen. My dinosaur obsessed son LOVED this! The illustrations are super cute, it was informative and super fun to read!

I wanted to like this book because it sounded fun and celebrating STEM. However, for a book about STEM, I feel like it completely misses the point by having a fantasy ending and falling hard into stereotypes.
Of course the Stemosaurus small nerdy and weak (big stereotypes here). His friends are not mentioned by pronouns but are called guys and are more masculine coded. So great a book about STEM that seems to be without any women or girls (but at least they can be made up).
Parents and educators might recognise some equations, pulleys, and other scientific inventions the Stemosaurus creates and can discuss them with kids. However they aren't explained in the book. Spike the Stemosaurus creates a time machine to escape the meteor collision which is a fun ending but not plausible at all, which I find disappointing in a book about STEM.
When they land in our present we see humans of different skin tones, girls in the playground, and a kid in a wheelchair so at least there is a bit of diversity shown there.
The ebook displays well on my tablet except that it shows two page spreads in landscape mode so it requires some zooming manipulation to read properly. The font is well legible to me.

I love how they used Spikes "weaknesses" to the advantage of the dinosaurs. It was just a heartfelt story about an odd dinosaur that ended up saving his friends.

There are so many great lessons in this book! From demonstrating teamwork, to explaining dinosaur history to showing how everyone has a skill, this book is so well rounded. I loved all the colors and diagrams included in this book as well! Overall, this was such.a fun time!

STEM-o-saurus saves the day in this cute and funny, well illustrated book about a dinosaur who uses his skills to save the species.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

More than Mundane Dinosaurs
Dual meanings hit home with this book. It addresses part of dinosaur history along with everyone having different skills to contribute and round out a group. This drives home accomplishing a goal as a group
The illustrations make me feel like I stepped into an approachable dinosaur environment. Colorful and carefully crafted in it’s whimsical layout
This story gives a group dynamic element and discussion. I think it could also work well 1:1 at home.
I received a copy of this book from Andrew Root. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

A kids book not only about dinosaurs but also teaching them about science. The illustrations and format of this book was so vibrant and jovial, If I were a kid I would have loved this.

I won't lie... I will pick up any book with a dinosaur on the cover. But a dinosaur in STEM is rare indeed! I enjoyed the illustrations in this book and the spunky characterization of each different dino. The plot twist was great too - if only some dinos could have escaped this way!

Kids love dinosaurs. Even older kid adore them. Stemosaurus celebrates the littlest dinosaur, Spike, that doesn’t have any particular skill, until a meteor is set to hit earth. Knowledge of STEM has given Spike a way to survive a catastrophic event. And survive they do 64 million years later.
This book is cute and wonderfully illustrated. I love the brilliant colors and art

Stemosaurus was adorable and I will definitely be picking up a copy for my 3 and 1 year old boys.
In addition to teaching about dinosaurs, it has a wonderful message about knowing and valuing your strengths. As a group, the dinosaurs come together as a team to solve a difficult problem. Their solution utilizes each individual’s strengths and they work together to reach a desired outcome. Spike, self conscious of his high intelligence, proves pivotal to the group. Spike shows the reader that brains are just as important as brawn.
The illustrations were super cute and engaging. The speech bubbles were a little excessive and made the main text feel choppy and disrupted the flow. It was difficult to decipher in what order I should read the page.
I will definitely be recommending Stemosaurus to my mom friends with dino loving toddlers!
Thank you to NetGalley, Two Lions, and Andrew Root for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
