Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc

This is a wonderful story of a fictional kind of dinosaur that teaches children about dinosaurs and STEM. (science, technology, engineering and math)
I loved how vibrant the illustrations were, and I think this would be a fun book for children of any age.

Dinosaur books are always a hit in our house and this story was perfect for my 6 year old son. He appreciated a lead character that loves math (just like him) and approaches questions with a lot of curiosity. The illustrations were full of bright colors and little details and they complimented the text well. Neither of us could predict how this would end and while it is a bit fanciful, isn’t that what children’s books are meant to be?

Thank you to Andrew Root, Two Lions publishing and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cute little children's book about a math-loving dinosaur who saves his friends. Great art too.
I really enjoyed it.

Stemosaurus was a quick, and fun read. Parents will enjoy reading this cute story to their littles. Delightfully illustrated, with pages full of vibrant colors, and adorable characters. The book was great at describing each character, however the story line felt slightly rushed. The ending is abrupt, but still very cute. Spike saves the day, just as the description explains.

Great story to teach children about how to work together and how other people's strengths can fill our weaknesses. However I can see parents stumbling over some of the words and having to deal with "what does _______ mean??" - including "stemosaurous"! I know some young Dino experts who will be quick to point out "that's not a real thing!" 😆

I honestly think this was super cute and I would read it to my son who is five and loves dinosaurs. Do I know if this is an actual dinosaur? No, I don't. Does it make me want to do research to see if it is? Yes. I will say that the ending was kind of a little abrupt, but it would make a great read for parents with their kids OR for little minds who love to read. :) Also, I love the concept of some dinosaurs making it out of extinction.

This story follows Spike the dinosaur that isn't like the rest of them, he's all about STEM! It's a unique take tying in dinosaurs and smarts. It reminds us as adults we can see things from a different perspective and gives us a way to teach kiddos its not all about looks and athletics!

Meet Spike the Stemosaurus: he’s curious, great with numbers, and about to save the day!

Not everyone has heard of Spike, the Stemosaurus. Unlike the other dinosaurs, he’s small, quiet, and rather weak. But Spike has boundless curiosity. He loves math, making inventions, and discovering new things about the world around him. Which is why the other dinosaurs come to him when they discover something LARGE heading right toward the earth. It’s a giant meteor!

What’s a STEM-loving dinosaur to do? Save his friends, that’s what! Spike is about to come up with the invention of a lifetime…
